Dr. Jefferson, I hope when you go home, you have a hobby or an outlet to help keep your mind off of your work. It’s got to be very difficult seeing so many neglected feet, working on difficult cases and hearing all your patient’s health and personal problems. God bless you for what you do as it must be so taxing by the end of the day. This from just a voyeur thinking and praying for your health and well being. Thanks for letting us into your professional world.

She sounds so detached, just barely answering questions. I have major depression and anxiety, t2 diabetic w/neuropathy. I went through this and occasionally still do,the detachment. My feet are no where near this state, but it hard sometimes because it hurts. She not only needs physical care,she needs emotional and mental care. Diabetes is hard to deal with daily.

At first Dr Jefferson’s low key demeanor came across to me as uncaring, however, I realize that he is much more inquisitive than any primary care doctors. Obtaining this extra information helps the Dr treat the patient as a whole and not just the section below ankles. Would highly recommend the Dr!

Dr. You are an angel to this poor woman. She also, from the look of things, needs to take an active role in her care, unless she isn't able to, due to living conditions and finances. In Canada, we don't have coverage for foot doctors, unless under coverages from where people work and unfortunately they are being dropped more and more. You were explaining so wonderfully for her and showing the way...... if only all people could have this heavenly foot care, especially as we age. I'm always amazed at your before and afters.....if our feet hurt, our whole body is "off", and this lucky lady is feeling pretty fine right now! Keep up your amazing work and kind but stern instructions as to patients following up with their foot care and further appointments if they are able! Our feet rock and we only get one set, look after them folks! 😵😨😷👍😆💙 Thanks Doctor for another great video

As a parent with a 28 year old daughter with type 1 IDDM, I know first hand than it doesn’t matter which type of Diabetes you have with education, different medical clinicians, & a strong support group Diabetes can easily become overwhelming and sometimes patients give up or refuse to take of their disease. It’s often easy for outsiders looking in to say what they will or won’t do. However, just imagine being told that you have a disease that can affect every system of your body. That same disease doesn’t allow for a day off. Oh and btw any damage done to a system or organ can’t be reversed. It’s enough to make a strong person weak!!!

Not only is this doctor very good at his profession, but he has such a good spirit. Obviously no one would ever let their feet get like that if they knew how to perform proper care. Some people may not be in a good mental or emotional state as well. This doctor helps them to restore health, and does it in a way that is informative/empowering for self-care, and does not attack their dignity.

It's hard to believe that in this country, there are people walking around with this problem. It's not like we are in a 3rd world country where there's no access to Doctors. But then, in this "great" country, the "under privileged" cannot afford insurance to get healthcare.. It's so very sad.
@littlemisseatscrispsforbre5353
@littlemisseatscrispsforbre5353 4 жыл бұрын
It's incredibly sad. If that happened here in my country someone is going to jail for neglect. We have a system where the unemployed or people earning a low wage, children and maternity is all paid for. That includes dental, glasses and for people with illnesses, foot and nail care. Most jobs with good wages offer full medical care as work packages or you can get your own. The district nurse goes out to check people who can't get out of the house. So like I said if someone who is ill registered with a doctor who has feet like this, someone is getting prosecuted.

Having grown up in an area with a lot of impoverished people, I find that education is almost as important as having access to healthcare. So many people do not understand how preventive care is needed. Too many rely on physicians only after a problem presents and may be well advanced. I’ve seen this in rural as well as urban areas. We must somehow not only make health care accessible, but also educate people as to the value of primary care and self care at home. I appreciate your caring attitude as you work with patients, many of whom don’t seem to have an understanding of their needs. And I too am learning much about caring for my own diabetic feet watching you care for others. Thank you for your educational videos.

My podiatrist here in Singapore managed to stop a callous from recurring on the sole of my right foot after my big right toe had been amputated in 2016. I'm diabetic. After about a year, the second toe started to 'claw' as it took over the duty of the big toe. A callous formed too. My podiatrist made mould imprints of my 2 soles n had shoe insoles made to those moulds. She then cut out a piece where the callous was. By doing that, my body weight was spread over the insoles but not on the callous. After debriding the callous a couple of times, it has not returned. 😊

As a nurse I feel for patients in this shape and understand often living situations play a part to their condition but I also get so upset when a patient doesn't do their part in taking care of their body and health as they are told. He nails should have never gotten this long and the wound should have been taken care of long before. She is obviously aware of her diabetic health and yet as I see many do, think they can go about life as always and they'll be OK. It's the mindset of it'll never happen to me and they end up losing limbs or ability to walk. It's heartbreaking and there should be someone put in place to make certain she gets to doctor visits and gets the medication and medical treatments she needs. I pray you got through to her at this visit and her condition improves. Admire your kindness and work no matter how frustrating times can get.

Doc you’re The Best.....you took your time, educated her the importance of her feet. Yes you could sense she wasn’t telling complete truth but again I think she was more embarrassed. But you made her feel sooo much better because you care about your patients. Many people don’t know that you’re supposed to put your moisturizers on while your skin is still wet after bathing and in between. I pray she listens to you and you can get her feet looking much healthier. She sounds like a very loving woman. Once she saw how much you cared, she felt more comfortable. Great Dr. Jefferson 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙏🏼💯

I loved the caption between the left foot nail trimming and the calluses. It made my day. Thank you so much for sharing vids with us all and for educating us about footcare. I’ve learned so much!

Rosalind Jimenez It makes a big difference as far comfort is concerned. My Podiatrist had the old type that had no water and caused it too heat up. After using the new one with water, let me tell you, what a difference. No more hot foot.

My mother was in a 16,000 dollars a month nursing home. After watching you , I repeatedly ask to have a podiatrist come check her feet. Didn't happen. I finally argue it out with state of Connecticut, brought her home, had her teeth look at and feet. Thank god for your channel. She got home, lived for 8 months in joy, before a massive stroke.

Just a minute, 16K A MONTH for a nursing home? In Canada, it’s roughly 2000-2500 a month. What do they do at that nursing home? I’m going to say not very much since you took your mum back home. Our elders should be treated like kings and queens. It’s a shame we bring our loved ones to a nursing home expecting them to get the care they need and so deserve only to be let down. How do I know this? I am an RN working in long term care, and it’s not the best here in many of the homes. So sorry to hear, but glad she was happy in her final months with family 🤗

Thank heavens this woman came in to see you. I know a man who had a sore like that and lost his leg below the knee because of it. I know you will do all you can to see she gets wound care. 💕 I hope she understands better and get better follow up with her PCP.
