I was in the choir for this performance. One of the best moments of my life. Some fun facts: * Jason Bonham being on drums was a surprise to EVERYONE. He had told Led Zeppelin that he had a prior commitment and couldn't make it to the ceremony, and Dave Grohl had been on drums for all the rehearsals, including the live dress rehearsal. * This broadcast version has footage from both the dress rehearsal and the final performance * Nancy Wilson is super nice in person * Stephen Colbert came up to me and some other choir members after the show to tell us we did a great job * We rehearsed every day for 2 or 3 weeks for this performance. * When only the small choir is shown, the full choir is still singing, just behind the curtains

Which "real" band does use auto-tune ? Is this maybe just a US thing ? Else there is also nothing wrong when backing tracks are used the right way. Its in the end even mor challenging for the band because that means they have to play on point with the right speed the whole time. But of course here i also mean only "real" bands and not just some hip-hopper or whatever americans have in their mind when they make these comments. Some examples are : Lovebites "Swan Song" where the piano comes at some point from a backing track since Miyako can't really play piano and guitar at the same time, even though she can do that one handed on both instruments. Ad Infinitum on songs where Melissa uses her clear vocals over underlying growling from herself, what she of course also can't do both live. Nightwish using some orchestra tracks for example at "Ghost Love Score"
@neilpatrickhairless Жыл бұрын
Almost every band that has recorded music in the past 50 years has used pitch correction of some form or another in studio, whether they admit it or even know it or not. There are a lot of things that go into music production. As for backing tracks, yeah, Kennedy Center can afford backing vocalists for the band Heart to cover Led Zeppelin
@neilpatrickhairless Жыл бұрын
Infact, I was just sitting with a very well known mixing engineer and live sound tech not long ago watching a video on Instagram from a very well known vocalist of a very popular band (won't name names) who was ranting about backing tracks and click tracks. The engineer was like, "what is this guy talking about? we have used backing tracks live for this guy since 2002... if anyone actually heard this guy's actual singing voice, he would have never sold a single copy of an album" - the guy was ranting about personal involvement in music and doesn't even know that people are only hearing about 12% of his actual voice in a live context.
@YerpDerp17 Жыл бұрын
@@beldin2987 This is what I think everytime I see this comment under literally every reaction video. lol Like no great singers use auto tune, it's what makes them great. There is greatness and beautiful voices in every generation. And you don't have to like them, but we can't just ignore them like they don't exist. lol You are allowed to prefer a certain time period or genre, but doesn't mean you should belittle everything else, simply because you don't prefer it, or you don't know they exist. The only genres that really use auto tune is a subgenre of hip hop and a lot of radio pop. But there are plenty of amazing voices that exist today. And to be all the way honest, I like when artist experiment with sounds. Many bands in the 60's and 70's started experiementing with the new technology. To name a couple popular out of the MANY, you have the Beatles and Pink Floyd. But the list is almost endless. Auto tune can be used by an artist, even those with a pretty voice. But there is a different in using something to achieve a specific sound or feeling, and an artist simply relying on it. I really feel bad for people who are so closed off to so much fantastic music.

i consider Heart's tribute to Led Zeppelin one of the finest live performances ever. its just so wonderful in every way. Another is "Procol Harum - A Whiter Shade of Pale, live in Denmark 2006". its another live performance with an orchestra. its a song ive been in love with my entire life and this performance is just, magical edit: dont forget the kleenex if you give it a listen. lol

Nights in White Satin as well for this effect. Recently watched a show where the band wasn't all that impressed by the song, one of them went out and brought back some instrument and along with that and multiple tracks of their voices, it becomes something special

Hi Stacey, every time I watch this the tears flow. LZ was my favorite band that I saw in concert in 1970, my ticket was $5.00. My tears flowed even more so watching it with you and your reaction. Robert Plant was emotion as well, teary eyed. Robert Plant and John Bonham were friends that joined Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones to form LZ. It took several times watching this, that the black hats worn by the choir and everyone else, was the same hat that John Bonham used to wear. I suggest you watch the David Letterman show with his guests being the three members of LZ after that night of being honored. David Letterman was also honored and was sitting next to Jimmy Page. It is a rather funny exchange and will lighten your heart. I'll keep watching your reactions, that are so genuine. You are quite attractive with a lovely smile and I enjoyed sharing the emotions and tears.

Heart is a legendary rock band from the 70's (formed in 73) and 80's they still tour and their last studio album was released in 2016 (this one had 2 new songs the rest were re-interpretations of previous works), in 2012 they released an album of entirely new work.

Seriously? Nancy is nowhere near the best acoustic guitarist ever. She is a good guitarist. She is not great. She wasn't even the second best guitarist in Heart - that was Howard Leese with the great Roger Fisher far and away #1.

@gene6690 Greetings from Germany. Well, I don't like to make comparisons, and who can say who is the "best"? I'll put it this way: for my taste, for me personally, Floor Jansen is the only true metal queen. Followed by our German Metal Queen named Doro Pesch. And in terms of genre, I would classify 'Heart' as pop/rock or rock. Otherwise, I agree with you completely.

@@stefanstock953 Greetings from South Africa. Yes you are correct with the distinction of Heart as a rock group. I was introduced to Nightwish and Floor during the beginning of the lockdown period in 2020 particularly Storytime from the Wacken 2013 show. I was totally blown away by the combination of the beautiful Tuomas compositions and this tall Godlike front women with an angelic voice known as Floor. She and Nightwish had such an impact on me that i booked and flew with my wife from South Africa to Gelsenkirchen, Germany to go watch them perform live. i was just worried that the pregnant Floor might succumb to some performance pressures and thank goodness nothing happened. That was pure luck as she actually cancelled her show a couple weeks later. Feel just sorry for those fans. Rock on mate 😇

I was able to hold my tears until they unveiled the choir, right after the guitar solo. Like you said, that was just overwhelming! By the way, Jason Bonham became like a son for the band, especially for Robert Plant after his father passed away. The band invited him to be there that night but Jason said that he couldn't be there because he already had something else to do that night. This was a lie. It was a total surprise for the band when Jason was introduced just before the song and you can see the band's reaction when they saw him: _"You?!! You liar!"_

Thank you Stacy. Loved so much your reaction to this tribute rendition of Stairway. Ive seen seen this video countless times and love it every time. Its certainly an emotive event as you have demonstrated so richly. ❤ Zep was my first ever concert in '69, a week after Woodstock in a large club-type venue in Schenectady, NY called Aerodrome. I think it may have been on their first American tour after the release of their debut album earlier that year. They werent playing many arenas yet, but everyone knew they were special. Ive seen Heart a couple times and they always included a Zep and/or Who song to their mix. Love them!

I'm not sure on what you like but I would love to see you react to Led Zeppelin, "The Ocean" Which is a song dedicated to his daughter while she was four years old at the time. It's my personal favorite. I think that's why I like the Beastie Boys first album because they use a couple Led Zeppelin songs as they do their old-school 1986 hip-hop. And I think Puff Daddy did the song, Kashmir for some movie, I believe it to be Godzilla, but I'm not sure. Many hip-hop artists use John Bonham's heavy hitting drums. That's a testament to their greatness because other genres use Led Zeppelin's riffs and drum beats. Have a great weekend Stacey. 😃😃 I hope you are feeling better after your surgery.

Yes my dear, this tribute video does it to everyone who sees/hears this, they are blown away. It is such a classy version, the Wilson sisters are off the charts, you have no clue about how incredible the rabbit hole you just tumbled into is. 🤘 I saw Heart with Jason Bonham's band opening some time after the Kennedy Center Honors doing a Led Zeppelin tribute tour, Jason opened with and plus of Led Zeppelin classics, the Heart did an hour plus of their stuff and lastly both bands came out for another hour of Led Zeppelin's very best songs. Stairway to Heaven was the last encore and everyone was crying and then we gave the ensemble an extended standing ovation, the entire place was electric. Led Zeppelin's music is eternal. Has been for me since 1969. Heart is a great band, a pioneering one with female leads that inspired and influenced other such bands since (my personal faves right now are Halestorm, Dorothy & Plush). Try the studio Magic Man and Barracuda as perfect openers as to what Heart is all about, those ladies flat out rocked and had the backing band to make their own version of utterly classic rock. I saw them 4 times, including the one above and they always left you saying 'WOW' at the end. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎹🎶
