Climate change is causing issues for many people in many areas. The winter before last Minneapolis MN got a record of 182 inches of snow. This last winter we had another record of only 20 inches of snow. With all of the weather extremes it's hard to determine was average means anywhere anymore.

Lester, I really feel for you. I know all the subdivisions have a lot to do with the flooding. I am willing to bet up river there are more, each one changes how the land can handle the water, less green space to soak up the rains, plus all their drainage. My family's house is in a zone with similar issues.My paws house was a total rebuild job.Months of field and fences have been fixed . It's so costly with your labour, hired and materials. Another flood is forcast to hit worse. I ask my paw when is it time to give up. Sell and move on. His response was never. Lester, you're right. Improper water distributation is the reason for of all your flooding. Pawpaw lived there his whole life. Never before was there a poblem. Did I hear someone say it was a wet lands prior to building? Should not have been developed for that reason alone.

Wow, those fences have so much gunk on them, fence repair on both sides, and that huge tree to get cut up and removed. When I had a pond, we had mosquito fish delivered every year. In Oregon, it is a free service. It helped so much. The fences really took a licking from the flood current and all that gunk attached to them. I can see it will take a few months to get them back.

Thank the Lord you & Jami saw the writing on the wall & sought other solutions by acquiring the other two Properties for the good of your precious animals. Thank you for making this video! Being what I would call a seasoned viewer - I understood that this clean up is going to take a while ( and exactly how long that is can not be determined - too many factors). Also, Morrow Hill in itself is much larger than what it can appear to be on our phone, tablet or TV screens. Everyone on the Hill has been working their tails off trying to get back to normal. Will the Sanctuary ever be like what it used to be? Probably not (unfortunately) because each flood leaves behind some damage that just cannot be fixed. And you Lester are a perfect example of how hard y'all have been working. Jami said in a video this morning that the 2 of you were to go over to the J&L together, but you fell asleep early. I'm so sorry that y'all have keep going through events like this 😔! I have my own belief as to what may be causing it - but I'm choosing not to say what it is. It's not even summer yet, and you're ready for autumn right? I don't blame you. I'm going to end this with a quote that I saw earlier today on Facebook - this person was reminded of a sacred truth: Never doubt that thousands of invisible hands are helping you at all times. There is a lot of work to do , but between you all, it will get done. My suggestion is that you do one section at a time. e.g start with the pond area and do all the fencing and re-building that you need to. Once that is done, some of the animals can be moved into there and then you start on the next one.

🤔 Is that a thing? I didn't realize that was something that was done in the rivers. I've heard of dredging a pond or maybe a local stream but not a river. Rivers that flow directly into the ocean are constantly changing in depth and structure. The amount of rainfall that's received locally + the swiftness of the upstream runoff from the northern states are constantly shifting the earth beneath the waterways. Another consideration is the direction of the ocean's tide when the rainfall flows into the rivers.

As bad as the fence was after the flooding, it should be comfting to know ut slowed down the flooding for yours as well as other oeople's properties. The added ponds are useful resevoirs as well. You have done a great job decreasing the potential damage. I think your county could use some levees to take the pressure off your fencing. It us not your responsibility to protect everyone. I would bring in some civil engineering projects.
