During this time period bands had to be able to perform live and sound as good as their records. There wasn’t a big production with pyrotechnics or fancy lighting or auto tune. Tickets were cheap (I paid $7.50 to see Bad Company!) so a lot of us got to see live performances. What a time to live through 💜👵🏼✌🏼🌻

In the 70's-80's I earned a lot of money, most of it spent on cars, women, music, concerts and always dining at the best restaurants with whoever I was with. This song in my 68 Camaro with "Danita" (6' blonde) has sweet memories

Aw...this gives me elementary school slow dance song flashbacks. Can picture it now: standing in a gym w/ my arms on the guy's shoulders & his hands on my waist---with about 2.5 feet of space between us while we both just rock back & forth from foot to foot--bc we were in elementary school & didn't know how to dance + touching boys/girls was still icky then. 🤣

I think you’d love his solo single “Oh Sherry”. He gave up touring and songwriting for over two decades before he got back into music. (Edited to get my facts correct)
@aprilroy64378 ай бұрын
Steve Perry never married. He and Sherry broke up. She is still alive. Steve only found out he had a daughter when she was around 13 years old. He gave up music because he was not feeling it in his soul anymore. His mom passed away and that affected him greatly.

Back then as previously stated they sounded like the records. It was because they could sing without computers, not like today. You go to shows nowadays they don't sound like the record. I work at an amphitheater see about 20 shows a season. Can tell the difference from older groups to the present day groups.

Steve Perry’s vocals are great, and he deserves all the praise he gets, but don't overlook the guitar player, Neal Schon, the heart and soul of the band. When they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Steve Perry said (paraphrasing), Neal's not just a guitar player, he's an entire string section. I went to school with him, so I'm prejudiced. I remember when he dropped out of school at 16 and turned down Clapton's offer to join Derek and the Dominos because he'd already committed to tour with Santana.
