Johnny and June Carter Cash were the picture of 'soul mates' ... Married for over 35+ years. After Junes passing, we lost Johnny 4 months later. He was completely lost without her. That's true love. RIP John & June

I'm with you Donna, I remember "The Johnny Cash Show" back in the 60's My family watched it every week. The Man In Black always opened the show at the mic with "Hello, I'm Johnny Cash"

Good to see the "lightbulb" go on. Lulu knows the history behind John and June from the movie.

In the UK, we only heard the Nancy Sinatra/Lee Hazlewood version which was a follow on to her James Bond song 'You only live Twice' from the movie of the same name. I only heard this version when I got his greatest hits album.

Thanks for the reaction video - and to be honest: I'm happy to see the "3rd generation" feels the Cash's vibe as well - from what I can tell when watching her reaction to some lyric passages... :) All of you three are great, really amazing to watch. Greetings from Germany!

One of my favorites from John and June. When they made the movie ‘Walk the line’, Reese and Joaquin did a fantastic job of covering it.

Johnny's show is essential viewing. A lot of people dropped by--Joni Mitchell and Johnny's buddy Bob Dylan, to name a couple.

I don't remember the show ever being in reruns either . But back then , they used to film more episodes per season than they do now . They also used to make shows for the summer months instead of doing reruns . How many times can anyone watch I Love Lucy or Gilligan's Island ?

Mother Maybelle Carter was an Addington before she married. She is a cousin of mine. I also live right across the mountain from their home place, the Carter Fold.

My favourite Johnny and June Carter duet is “Far Side Banks of Jordan” which is an eerie song when you consider the order in which Johnny and June Carter both left this world. My favourite Johnny Cash song is “Man in White”. For a bit of fun have a listen to the Andrews Sisters singing “Don’t Bring Lulu”.

Think the very beginning of AM radio. Maybelle's first generation of the Carter family goes back that far. That is their significance. Maybe the first country, folk and gospel to ever go out over the airwaves.

On the topic of the Carter family, it started with A.P. Carter, his wife Sarah and her cousin Maybelle. After that band broke up in '43, Maybelle continued to perform with her daughters Helena, June and Anita. There's some truth to the statement that June didn't feel she could perform like her sisters, as Anita was always the best singer and Helena the best instrumentalist (excepting their mother). When June and Johnny got married, it was kind of a big scandal at the time, as the Carter family was something akin to royalty in the American music scene, while Cash was considered something of an uncouth drunk. Especially since Mother Maybelle had put an end to both Elvis Presley and Hank Williams courtships of her younger sister Anita. But apparently Maybelle really liked Johnny. What made Maybelle famous was her guitar teqnique, like in this performance from '61: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIbFkqSwid-sbKc My personal favourite is a June-heavy song called It's My Lazy Day: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aaupo3ihe65jopo
