Love your honesty. I know some have commented about you banging on about the prices, but it is important in this day & age. I don't only want to know if something tastes nice, i want to know if it's a rip off too! I think you've got the balance just right. EVERYTHINGS overpriced in this day and age i just came in from néw butchers who opened beside ny local tescos said I'd pop in, support him as butchers are disappearing rapidly in our town. Bought 2 lbs stewing beef and was absolutely gobsmacked at the price almost €18!!! I queried it but he said price was correct sane amount of stewing beef in Tescos would have been €12, so sorry but he's had his first and last business out of me. I understand its small, independent shop, rising rents, electricity costs etc but come on now there also comes a point when it's just price gouging. Also very easy for them to CLAIM "ooooh the landlord increased my rent"blah blah blah but how do we KNOW?? A lot of lies going on to justify price hikes they REALLY wanted to charge in first place but couldn't have got away with before this cost of living BS. I give him 6-+2 months there if he keeps this up. Was chatting to next door neighbour on way home and she's noticed his price gouging too. Says she's taking her business to a wholesale butcher

I hadn't had McDonalds for 42 years until we moved house and on a busy day we dropped in to get a burger. Wasn't bad (we were a bit hungry) and I'll certainly look forward to another one in 42 years. Glad you have a crumb catcher today - cheers!

The first time I encountered McD's was in Toronto in 1972 when I was visiting my sister. It tasted like cardboard even then. I also went to a Canadian burger joint called Harvey's. Wow! Charbroiled, thicker burgers and you could pick your own toppings. That blew me away...

It looked half good, but then I realised just how small it is. I won’t be rushing to buy one. I’m looking more towards the frozen sections in Lidl and Aldi and Rustlers etc at the moment. Defrost at home and add in whatever you like. Cheese slices, gherkin slices, onion etc I’m quite pleased with myself for trying this new route out. Double burgers for about £3? And deals sometimes where you get 2 for £3!!!! Chuck a few chips in the oven, sorted? Better than McD and you didn’t have to go and queue for it.

This popped up in my email inbox from McDonald's...thought of you Gaz, wondered if you would be reviewing it and here you are ! Just about every time I go to a Maccy's the food is luke warm and as for getting a delivery, no chance, expensive and even being delivered from a restaurant just over a mile away you know it's going to be almost cold. The advert makes me laugh, lots of people all going, McDelivery !! yeah, right, if you like your food stone cold and get charged four quid to have it delivered. I think the problem is, they are trying to cover all bases, the car parks are always chocca with delivery drivers from uber, deliveroo, just eat etc and they get priority over customers that are actually there in person ordering !! Saying all that, I might give it a go.

Cheers Gaz, well, I stopped by Maccys on the outskirts of Market Harborough on the way home about an hour ago and ordered a Philly Cheese Stack meal. I thought the size was ok, perhaps a tad on the small side. I don't think I'd buy it again, not a fan of the runny cheese sauce, quite liked the crispy onions and gherkins and for once, my fries were actually hot! Probably because it was busy. @RedHeadNINTY9T9 Whilst McDonald's is now expensive and indeed I have had bad service from time to time (forgotten items in the drive through or bad temper), I consistently found Burger King's service in the UK even worse on average. The last time I had BK was a year ago at motorway services. Every single item was freezing cold when I got into the car. Not just lukewarm, absolutely freezing cold. I believe they use microwaves to re-heat items cooked before and obviously my stuff had missed that step. Whilst I was trying to eat the frozen cold food I saw an ambulance worker getting into his ambulance with a BK bag. I felt even worse for him considering the hard work they do.

McDonalds really serves a purpose for me when driving out and about and it's 14:30, the Chippies and cafes / sandwich shops are all shut and you just need a quick bite to eat and a "McWee". I do also enjoy a breakfast Sausage and hash brown muffin early doors and the coffee is decent. Fair credit to them too for charging the same menu prices in motorway service stations ( at least it was at Watford Gap a couple of weeks ago ) At work however we have a Canadian Charcoal Pit a few doors down and for £5.70 you can have the lunchtime deal consisting of a "La Canadienne" burger with cheese ( twice the size of that tiddler ) with any mix of toppings and a good portion of crisp fries. It's always hot, fresh and in a totally different league. If they can do it why can't Mackies?

We both thought the burger was absolutely delicious. We don’t agree that it is too small. It was a very adequate meal and we couldn’t have eaten anything much larger. I also tried the apple and toffee pie, which was fantastic. Highly recommend both items. Thank you Gareth for telling us about them.

It is plenty big enough for my appetite now but I would still have to gauge the size against the price. With so many options available now I suppose Macs and others have to try something to keep the menu fresh and I am sure they will sell a few. Not only do Mcdonalds charge an extortionate price for the burger they also have the cheek to charge 10p for the paper bag. That's the equivalent of supermarkets charging for plastic bags. It's corporate greed.

I stopped using maccies when they upped the price of a £ saver burger specifically the cheeseburger and mayo chicken to £1.39 each. It’s cheaper now to go grab some burgers (and not the cheap ones) a couple of buns and some processed cheese slices and make my own in the air fryer to double the amount I’d get from their inflated prices and still save money even with the electric cost of cooking. Madness!

Lot of comments about price here but remember, takeaway hot food has VAT at 20% charged on, it so if Macs charge £5 for a burger they only get just over £4 after tax. The stuff you buy in the shops and cook yourself is zero rated. Macs are big enough to defend themselves and I agree that some of the stuff looks a bit small, but comparisons must be fair. It looks like a Double Quarter Pounder that McDonald's sells here in Australia for $9.55 just burger is made with the following ingredients: 2 x quarter pound beef patties, 2 x cheese slices, pickles (gherkins), onion slices, ketchup, American mustard. Extremely heavy to eat, although very good to put you to sleep on your way home from the club.

I took my 9 year old to maccies for the first time. After moaning about it, She refused to eat it. I had a McUnTasty that was dry and cold. 25 quid down the pan and I had to by chippy for her tea. Never again America was the last time I had a decent burger from there. Sausage and egg breakfast are the only I’d eat now from there. Even the milkshakes are rubbish😂

The only McDonald's I buy now as a rare treat are the Double Sausage and Egg McMuffin's, which are pretty much unbeatable in my opinion. Other than that I stick to Rustler's Double stack burgers and priced currently at 'two for £3' in Asda, great value. I use them as a starting point and add in extra sauce and cheese slices etc.

I get the single sausage and egg McMuffin every Tuesday, very nice. Once, they cocked up the order. The payment window wanted a lot more than I normally paid, but I didn't check the screen. I just assumed the price had gone up. When I got to the car park and opened the bag I realised they had given me a Double Sausage and Egg McMuffin. I think the balance is wrong, though. Too much pattie for the muffin and egg. So I'm sticking with single.

For the amount you paid for that burger, i got a full big Mac meal the other day. Anytime I'm passing through Manchester now i end up going to Slim Chicken in the Arndale, one of the best chicken burgers (sandwich) I've had, the buffalo one anyway, plus seasoned fries and a lot of choice of spicy sauces, and if you go for soda it's bottomless, but they also do bottles of beer. Slightly more expensive than kfc but blows them out of the water quality wise, about £11 - 12 for a buffalo chicken sandwich meal with bottomless soda.

I think this burger is gorgeous, very tasty, the onion crispy bits are gorgeous, but your right i would love it to be bigger fair play for your review mate

I had one of these the other day and I really enjoyed it. Plenty of meat in there and not too overwhelmed by the cheese. Would definitely have it again. Way better than the Big Tasty.
