I've never seen anything like it, but the comments sections for reactions to Ren's music have become places where the Renegades have connected with and spread love, support, and strength to others through shared experience. I've seen well over 100 reactions to Hi Ren and The Tales over the past year, and I can say that your reactions are among my absolute favorite because you connect with both the music and your audience so naturally. I love your honest emotional reactions to Ren. I had to sub to follow you on your journey down the Ren rabbit hole. You've had the tiniest of tastes of what he's capable of just watching the two songs. Ren has a number 1 album out in the UK. He's impossible to nail down to a single Genre. He's a master of hip-hop, rap, rock, punk, reggae, bardcore, ballads, and pop. His catalogue is pretty big and then he has amazing stuff with his former band (hopefully getting back together) The Big Push. He plays the electric and acoustic guitar (obviously), piano, drums, bass & the melodica. He produces his own beats, beat-boxes sings like an angel and writes as well as anyone I've ever listened to. You've heard a couple of heavy emotional pieces. For fun songs, you should try Love Music #1, #2, #3 & #4. It's for songs all about how much he loves music. Losing It is a fun one as well. For heartfelt ballads, try his 2 collaborations with Chinchilla, How To Be Me (live) and Chalk Outlines (live) For a rock song try Fire. For hip-hop try Wicked Ways, Seven Sins and Lost All Faith. For Rap try Illest Of Our Time, Animal Flow, and The Hunger. Oh and you can't miss the 2 songs Ren did with Eden Nash, Humble and Ocean. There's tons more songs I didn't even bother listing. I haven't heard a single song that wasn't good. I can't wait to see how shocked you are when you see other styles he does. I'm glad to have stumbled upon your channel. Peace and love.

I read through a few comments, and didn’t immediately see anyone explaining a little more about Ren. This guy. He’s changed how I see music and songwriting and performing and music videos forever. And getting to know a bit more about him makes you appreciate his work even more. The guy has lived and experienced some difficulties that you have to know about to really understand what he’s doing. When he says in Hi Ren that he “spent half his life ill”, he’s taking about a battle with Lyme disease and misdiagnosis and the toll it took and continues to take on him. Read up a bit about his story. You won’t be able to react to every song he’s ever written, but, map out the next half dozen or so that you want to do, react to them, and then just let yourself listen to EVERYTHING else. He’s just so good. Can’t state enough how much he’s influenced the way I experience music for the last couple years. Glad you found Ren! Keep the videos coming!

@reactivereplays56668 ай бұрын
I could write a book on just about every Ren song... These are a few things I like to mention sometimes. Jenny's Tale you have to ask yourself what was a 14 year old girl wearing heels and "rosy cheeks" doing at night on a road "she walked a 1000 times before". At the start of Screech's Tale, Ren starts the song by saying, "A story it starts at the end". Patrick was "missing" and Screech's GF was "Busy" because they were together. Then at the end as Ren does so often he brings it full circle and says, "A story it ends at the start" . Violate Tale - I LOVE the guitar rifts throughout the ENTIRE song. Ren so often does, he plays the part of Violate here on the bed after the rifts... (Violate waking up looking around confused as to how she got here and where is here?) With haunting/eerie hymns he sets the stage. Many catch the rewind . MANY more miss the speeding back up to real time when Ren/Violate wakes up on the table (After the fight between her and Stevie as he starts walking away). Lastly, Violet moved out at 16 into a flat paid by a "welfare scheme". It is logical to think that violet was already pregnant by this time. A teenage runaway might have a chance at being a beneficiary of this but a pregnant teenage runaway certainly has the qualifications to be granted this benefit. This was before she met Stevie who most would assume was the father of Jenny and Screech. If what was speculated was true, Stevie did some maths and figured that the numbers didn't add up, the baby wasn't his. He beats up Violet and calls her a "slut" which was quite specific when compared to usual cuss words like "bitch" or "cunt". This would also answer as to why Stevie asked "Why're you lying to me, violet?" And would make the slightly off phrase "Do you think I wanna do this, Violet" fit more consistently into the story.

@walkerig16 ай бұрын
IMHO the Tale of Jenny and Screech is a Three Act Shakespearian Tragedy, in the style of the wondering minstrel bard. Ren has self identified his music as bard core, so that is confirmed. This is an ancient style of music; that goes right back through the wondering minstrel bards of the middle ages. The works of Chaucer sung in the Wife of Bath's ale house. And back to the Dark Ages of Anglo Saxon epic poetry of Beowulf, on through the Greek Homeric tales of The Iliad and The Odyssey and the beginning of the Choir. This form of story telling probably goes all the way back to Ugg twanging his Bow to woo the Chiefs Daughter or complain about the Chief stealing the meat from his hunt, at the hut of the Widow Ale Wife, where he and others would congregate to let off steam and tell tales of epic hunts; to then draw on the local cave walls, like the graffiti in The Tales. The music acted in part as interlude/intro as well as melodic emphasis and sound effects for the story. Also I think you spotted Ren's use of locational reverb in the sound engineering. They also got lucky with the Seagulls in part of the song which then was deliberately left in and emphasized in the mix. All of that indicates the intellectual level of the performance production in this piece of art.

The amazing thing about these reaction videos (where Renegades will suggest someone watch something from him) is that on the surface it could be seen as a joke, or a morbid fascination with seeing someone being uncomfortable. But this isn't giggling because we know that the jump scare is coming. It is knowing that watching or listening to Ren WILL CHANGE your. Maybe only for a day or week or whatever, but it really does plant something into you soul and Renegades want to share that with as many people as possible. And Stacey, you were emotional because you have a good heart I think and that is how good people react to tough situations. Thank you for reacting!

Ren is a modern day bard painting such vivid imagery with his storytelling that it pulls you in and forces you to keep watching - even when it gets physically uncomfortable during Violet’s Tale. And Ren uses this ability to shed light on far too real issues in the world. Ren is special. Anyway great reaction ❤ Now you get to wait in eager anticipation with the rest of us, cause Ren has said that he and his cinematographer Sam have plans to film a pilot to pitch to Netflix when Ren has finished treatments in Canada and moves back to the UK. All we know is that it will be in the same raw style as this trilogy, but that is enough for me to say that if Netflix doesn’t give Ren his own show, they are fools.

What surprised me was though his sound and themes are very English urban, he actually comes from a tiny Welsh Village called Dwyran, near where I grew up!. Google this and see how remote this is! Glad the guy is finding international audiences now.

I recently discovered REN myself and I always love watching reactions to his music especially Hi REN and this song. I loved your reaction in this video so much. Seeing you emotional got me emotional. This was one of if not the best reaction I’ve seen for this song. Amazing video, I subscribed and can’t wait to see you react to more of Rens content.

Great reaction to this. As someone else said, you have a good heart. It's endlessly nice to see people react to this like a human. I'm sure it's been said, but just in case - jenny and screech were brother and sister. After the death of their mother, the father wasn't around; whether that was because he abandoned them or he was in jail, they would have ended up in foster care. They likely had no idea the other ever existed, because record keeping while itself is already poor; it was equally poor at communicating pretty much anything about someone's roots. Secondly, Screech's friend was with Screech's girlfriend. "For something far more sinister in mind, does await." The basics of the story is true, iirc - at least the story of the mother and how she died and what her condition was. Maybe not twins, but she was pregnant. Her name was changed for the song, but she was real. I believe Ren said he read and remembered the story from a newspaper (?) Or perhaps an article online. He has a really great interview with Black Pegasus, and I think he also has one with The Charismatic Voice.

Thank you so much for your reaction to the trilogy. Such an emotive and thought provoking piece of art. I'm so happy that you have started your journey with Ren. Expect tears and laughter along the ride, but more importantly, enjoy 😺. Thank you once again from this UK RENegade

lady, I just watched this reaction of yours having seen the trilogy many times, thinking I was emotionally ready for this. I bawled my eyes out yet again. I´m 47 year old male if that matters, yet this just cuts my cord´s so hard.

A year into my Ren journey, and I still end up crying watching new reactions to this. If anyone at work asks.. I just got something in my eyes, okay? Before you get broken by Chalk Outlines.. maybe take a break and enjoy Love Song Part 4, or Genesis ❤

Thank you for your reaction to this. You looked like you tensed up a bit during Violet's tale where Ren talked about her father not leaving her room, and then you looked away for a moment at the part about her mother knowing what was happening, as if it was too much for you to think about for a moment. I don't know if this was a trauma response to something you've been through, or if you were simply empathizing with countless victims/survivors. My point is: One thing I've been learning through Ren's songs is that we need more humanity. It will be ugly, scary, and painful, but it will also be beautiful and exciting and is exactly what the world needs. Thank you for sharing your humanity and vulnerability, and for making the world a better place. Since you're on the Ren train, why don't you check out Power. It isn't as heavy as "Hi Ren" or "The Tale of Jenny and Screech", but like them it sends an important message. Much love.

Aww Stacey sweetheart it made me tear up seeing how hard this was for you. It is a hell of a Tragic tale. Hopefully this gets a smile? I subscribed halfway through because of your genuine reaction.

1:40 That keyboard is intense! Also, one of our kitties looks just like Meezu! 21:00 "I don't know if I was crying because of the story or how beautiful Ren is?" Yes. The answer is yes. 🧡💛🧡

The 1st two were recorded together a few years before Violet's Tale. Initially based on a news report Ren had read about a couple of kids. I wonder if you'll make the connection right away at the end...? The big thing that sets Ren apart is the extent to which he acts: he doesn't just sing or speak his lyrics, he lives them. Dude would make a really good actor.

hi, i am a 51 year old Australian male and a huge lover of music, i am an intermediate guitar player dreaming of being 1/10th as good as ren one day, i thought HI REN was mind blowingly brilliant, see, i suffer from serious mental illness, Bipolar disorder, Schizophrenia, dissociative identity disorder, panic disorder, social phobias as a result of childhood sex abuse for years at the hands of my pedo father who also beat me regulalry and threatened to decapitate me if i ever told anyone of what he was doing, so as u can imagine Violets tale resonated withj me deeply and i criend my eyes out everytime iwatch it, its a bloody tough act, Ren is a master craftsman, a brilliant lyricist, producer, director, actor , artist, rapper and singer and instyrumentalist and so much more, he cant be quantified or put in a single genre, i usually always 100% only love female vocalists, Ren changed all that for me. I wanted to comment about your reaction video technique if i may? Firstly, i wanted to say thankyou firslty just for doing this honestly with an open heart and empathy, secondly these videos that people do about music are generally called REACTION videos, yet many content creators never shut up long enough to hear the words or inflections of the artists to give a proper reaction, ur silence was perfect, u were actually REACTING, not commentating, which IMHO was perfect for this kind of thing and im not sure if you have reacted to HI Ren but you seem very familiar with his work so i am going to assume you have and will look after this, The saddest part of all this Ren music is that it is relatable because it hapopens every minute somewhere in the world, the darkness is always present on our small blue marble rocketing through space, and will likely not end until humans are extinct. There are so many wonderful experiences of the human condition why are so many drawn towards the dark? The age old existential question i guess? Anyways, please keep reacting to videos in the same style you did this one, with few interuptions and just pure heartfelt honesty, be it joy, sorrow, confusion, or anger etc? Just be true to yourself, your audience, and most importantly the artist.. you have a new subber and liker and commenter in me, much love from the land down under xx 💖 Phoenix !!

Defo check out some other parts to him. 1 million subscriber video Anything with his band the big push Humble, Runaway, his new retake he dropped yesterday. There’s honestly so much just enjoy and we’ll be here.

I can never decide if he should get a Grammy or an Oscar, or maybe both.

You've only seen one side of Ren, and he has so much more to discover. After the Tales, it's a good idea to see some of his lighter side. I *highly* recommend checking out a video with his band The Big Push titled, "I Shot the Sheriff/Road To Zion/Hip Hop" (Look for the thumbnail wit Ren in the *RED SUSPENDERS*), or something like a collab with Sam Thompkins titled "Earned It/Man's World/Falling". Both are Renegade favorites, and will really give you a different, lighter perspective of Ren. 😎

It is ok to feel all the feelings we feel about this. The grief,anger, rage against evil, the sadness created by the tragedy of death. For all of you that have experienced physical and emotional abuse. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO !Talk to some one. Seek help. Even having people praying for your safety can help. Everyone is special and is beautifullly and wonderfully made. God bless.
