My paraphrase of your vid. 1:10 1) INTPs' proneness to addiction (due to the Ti-Si loop). | 1:57 Tertiary Si remembers objects, environments, & info we're comfortable w/; i.e., space, matter, & their relation to us. | 2:22 The Ti-Si loop mindset is dangerous; the temptation to halt one's life & EXHAUSTIVELY categorize+refine the internal structure of pre-existing info our auxiliary Ne has perceived (& Si stockpiles). | 3:03 It's dangerous to get locked into stagnant complacency w/ one's comfort zone-leading to the neglect of exercising Ne, & thus failing to bring in the new info necessary for continued development. 3:36 2) Apathy toward socialization. | INTPs enjoy such stimulus insofar as it promises to enhance the categorization of their pre-existing knowledge. | INTPs have a misanthropic bent toward most of society. | 3:55 The key to them flourishing is the discovery of fellow intellectuals w/ new perspectives to offer. 4:46 3) Fe Inferior abhors being the bearer of bad news. | Breaking hearts = bad times for INTPs. | NTPs drag their heels regarding breakups, even in the face of glaring red flags; they're extremely reticent to preemptively address their concerns until all the facts are in. 6:30 4) INTPs don't jive w/ unsophisticated hoopla. 7:45 5) We have to remind ourselves to. . . - engage in situations w/ our Ne more (hearkening back to 3:03); - go out & seek more info-not getting caught up in redundant, overly familiar loops; - & whether or not you're afraid: don't isolate/close yourself off from new, positively transformational experiences. 8:35 Such events are imperative to refining the INTP's logical structure & individuality/identity. | They also disclose the truth of reality-so face the danger; you know you want to. 8:51 6) When it suits us, we excel at cultivating compelling personas to blend into society (w/ Fe, etc.). | We're characterized by a sort of wavering ambivalence when it comes to managing our reputation/others' perception. | Our ego generally wants to stand out from the crowd-but in a winsome way. 10:00 6.2) Ideally, self-prioritization can benefit the whole of society; surround yourself w/ others who can help actualize that. 10:28 7) Our lateral-thinking Ne tends to make quantum leaps of logic

I find that one of my most challenging roles to date has been transitioning to service industry. As a server or bartender, I've adapted (more or less) by trying to learn the crap out of my food and beverages. It helps me to go into an already admittedly uncomfortable scenario-talking to groups of strangers-with confidence in my words and less overall anxiety. It definitely helps to have the INTP curiosity when trying to learn those things though. Thank goodness we love information because I'm frankly shit at sales for the sake of selling, haha. Beyond that, latching onto one area of interest with my tables usually opens me up and makes me more entertaining and personable. Again, thank goodness for our tendency to sponge up random information about a wide range of topics! I'm not saying that it's been easy, now or ever, but I'm adapting...and I'm definitely curious as to how much I can continue to grow through it.

The secret is believing that you are in fact “helping” them. Helping them have a better day every time they walk through that door, ( for example, but helping them SOMETHING) Is it hokey? Yes. But I figured this out way before I knew what Fe inferior was all about back when I was in Hospitality and crushed it. The trick is you don’t have to be crazy outgoing and gregarious, you just have to be genuine, to care. And we INTP’s do care, so you can embrace that and crush it too.

Wow. This is the single most accurate video I’ve seen to date about some very fundamental and deep aspects, strengths and weaknesses that make me, me. What a sense of relief there is that comes from realizing that several modes of behaviour and emotional responses, etc. that often feel as if I’m locked into or at the mercy of are actually shared by many others. I honestly thought they were unique (for the most part at least) to me. I’m half joking when I say this but I feel less broken already. Great video. Thanks for doing these.

The system by which one refines one's own perception of the world insofar as the systems and algorithms work and how they relate to each other is something that, as an INTP, I have consciously payed attention to more in the last couple of years, before I even knew that I was an INTP. If a person tells me some information, I naturally sort it into the "likely bullshit" category or the "welp, now I have to reconstruct my entire internal framework of how this system works to be able to successfully and accurately integrate (x) piece of information" category, and I do this nearly instantaneously. However, when the latter occurs, I do not dislike it. I enjoy people who bring my mental model of the world closer and closer to reality. Most people do not like challenging ideas and preconceptions. Most people seem very shallow to me, which can lead me to isolation, depression, and resentment of my fellow man. Thank you for the insights.

Addiction is too universal and complex a phenomenon to be ascribed to any Ti Si loop. Addiction extends outside of the domain of personality, and has epigenetic, behavioral, and developmental criteria that tell for it's emergence in an individuals life. It would be more applicable to discuss addiction from a standpoint of psychosis, neurophysiology, and psychoanalysis than MBTI. I'm an INTP and notice that INTPS tend to use logic and abstractions to come to conclusion when rather a matter should be dealt with or thought of in the light of empiricism.
@nayrking88 жыл бұрын
Well, I never made any claims that only individuals with Ti and Si in their stack can have addictions. It should be noted that Jungian cognitive function theories are primarily interested in the ways in which we cognize information; the expressions of one's personality are of a latter and less precise interest. If you're going to call psychoanalysis empiricism then you are disadvantaged toward accepting that patterns of cognition have a significant effect on one's behavior. It then follows in manipulating that pattern, we can manifest new outcomes. This is what we are trying to accomplish when we address why one may be inclined toward addictive behavior with a particular faculty order.
@mpcc20228 жыл бұрын
Ziach Firstly, how one cognizes information is beyond what one is rationally aware of Ti and Si are conscious agents, and therefore functions of the rational mind. Why human beings do anything is not topic of just our rational faculties. In addition, I'm not stating that psychoanalysis is empirical, but that it would serve as a better analytical device than the cognitive functions in determining why an individual might take up an addiction. My point is that addiction is beyond the scope of MBTI. "Cognitive configuration" in terms of what? How is the brain configurated, and, what does that tell us in the context of lived experiences? If you understand the connection between neural anatomy, genetics, the environment, the cognitive functions, and behavior then I implore you to explain it. Cognitive configuration is better served as a topic for neuroscience and cognitive science. An individual's behavior is certainly influenced by their temperament and schemata-(cognitive functions), however, the analysis falls shallow, because behavior is complex. Behavior is nuanced by social context, environment, and upbringing. Chiefly, your analysis is shallow and therefore inaccurate. If you want to help people change their behavior then consult the relevant fields. It's not my job to correct people, but I hope you understand that when you're disseminating information particularly in regards to health and wellness that you should be as thorough and as accurate as possible, and I'm not trying to be a dick, or contentious for the sake of argument, but sincere in my concern for the topic and the potential listeners. Did you look at a study on addiction, or have you taken any classes, or training on addiction, addiction management or, addiction therapy? If not you can understand why I'd be skeptical of your analysis and advice on the situation.

Most points I relate with, except when your metaphorical balls kick you when you make contact with people. I hate most people but I don’t hate some, I like certain people that grab me or something...it’s complicated. Taking to people is not a problem for me, unless I am standing in front of a class and talking...that no no nooo. I believe every INTP can be different but has similarities, some INTP’s can be talkative like a talkative introvert (extroverted introvert), but I blurt out stuff if I can’t control what I am thinking but most of the time I think when speaking to people unless it’s my closets mate...it’s a bit of both. I keep getting INTP but I am not extremely good in science and maths, I am good in social science (sociology), criminology and law though

I think it's more of a habitual way of life rather than addiction. Addiction implies you're incapable of quitting something because your body thinks you need it. It's a chemical thing. As an INTP, there are indeed certain things i do in excess not because i can't quit, but because i'm simply not given a reason to quit. If i'm given a good enough reason to stop, i'd have no problem just stopping. The same can not be said for an actual addict.

We are rebels without a cause. But we ask why and think deeper which scares people. But in my opinion with our self awareness logically, we see thru lies and see big picture before others and causes us to be turned off by them. Maybe before we even make it logical in our heads. Which leads us to ask why people just can’t be real. But I feel I am severely introverted, or have autism to boot, but. In reading the comments in some INTP videos, why is it that some people undergoing social challenges or anxiety or don't like people think they're INTPs? It's not the same. I'm an INTP and have no social anxiety or loneliness, and actually generally fall somewhere in the spectrum between apathy to liking other people*. Sorry for your pain (I really am) but I feel like I have to say something here because that's misinformed and gives the wrong impression about INTP s more broadly. We're also chill, playful, curious, and we don't try to control others (which I tend to think is a good and moral thing, though makes us less interested in manager roles), and a lot of people really like being around us. I do think there's truth to the comment in this video about finding a different community that appreciates all the wonderful things we offer, and offer us what we crave, versus hanging out in areas with people who don't appreciate us. But that's also not a truth unique to INTPs - the same could be said about other types too. * of course there are exceptions to this - people who have thinking patterns that reflect poor morals, priorities / values, or either apathy or stubborn adherence toward faulty logic / analysis on *important* topics or plans. I love being an INTP; it's flat out fun.

How do you prepare for videos? Also, how did you get so much better at relaying your thoughts back out to people?
@nayrking88 жыл бұрын
I usually have a concrete conception of what I want to say before I record, but I won't necessarily work out the 'details' of how I'll word it (I let my Ne do all of that.) Once I have a general trend conceived, I will write a few words down on a piece of paper that are related to each trend, so when I read the word I immediately receive an intuition of what I wanted to say, and then can let my Ne convey or articulate that trend. Regarding getting better at conveying your intuitions, I think practicing is the best way to get better at it. Every time I read a book or acquire new information, I will usually try to put the ideas 'into my own words' by either rehearsing it out loud or telling a curious friend about it. This is a great tactic for assimilating new information I find. It also improves my cadence to actively articulate my thoughts into coherent sentences. Take your time when speaking. Forget that anyone else is listening and just focus on placing your thoughts into a concise and coherent structure. If someone doesn't want to take the time to hear your thoughts, they probably aren't interested in the information to any pensive level regardless, and therefore require no further exertion. To give a summary of my advice, practice often by speaking aloud or to a friend, write a few words on a piece of paper before a video to serve as a cerebral guideline, and keep a slow pace when conveying your thoughts (you'll speed up with practice.) I also host GoToMeetings pretty often on this channel where anyone can join and talk about any topic. That has probably been the most significant factor in improving speech, as constantly recording conversations requires you to be constantly public speaking, in a way. I've watched all of your videos, you would be a great guest if you wanted to participate some time.
