Bought one of these for my wife a few years ago with 140k miles Luckily it had the chains done and coolant pipes done. We periodically get the infotainment screen on/off/on/off reboot sequence which is annoying but after a hard reset and a battery charge everything seems sorted. Almost 170k miles on it now. We love it

Bought mine.. knew ahead of time that it most likely will need timing guides ect. BTW - 85% of the time the timing chains are fine and you will only need to change the guides etc. Cost me 1600. My euro mech did it for me. My 2012 LR4 has performed excellent. Don't let people scare you away from them. Just do your homework and know what extra work may need to be done. If you can't afford this stuff then don't buy.

Excellent Vid. Especially the clarity of it. That scan tool looks awesome. Can't wait for more vids on that car. I get excited every time I see an LR4 vid. Thanks for your upload. I own a 2012 LR4 HSE and couldn't be happier. It's a beast, 375hp. It's the best ride and the sharpest looking. No comparison to any other LR.. 113kmi on mine and no problems, no issues. It's not for everybody but if you Get one, You won't be disappointed,, just be sure that if you buy one, it's been serviced. Also squirrel away a little money just in case. Subbed.

We Euro people have to deal with the Disco 3's (or LR3's for you Americans) 2.7 TDV6 or the Disco4 (LR4's) 3.0 SVD6, both engines are known to say goodbye to the crankshaft at any moment, milage and without warning. However the 3.0's crank is known to snap even faster due to added HP/torque as well as a manufacturer error during the casting process of the crank. The LR3 for sure is the less troublesome car of the 2. And "cheaper" to keep on the road. So Disco3 all the way for me.

New to your channel, found it because I'm in the market for a LR4. Could you please do a more in-depth video of the Launch X431 scan tool? I like to know what it can do? I want to buy it and use it to check the LR4 when I test drive it. Thank you very much. Also did you finally figure out what was wrong with the truck that was causing all that trouble?

The great sin on this was the service intervals... 26,000km, which is criminal. They're just outstanding when they work, but the can bleed you dry. Done 250,000 km in mine and i have tull blown Stockholm syndrome.... Replacing it with a LC PRADO or LC 200 costs a lot more than some LR parts and they arent nearly as comfy to drive.

How would you compare the on road handling of the LR3 and LR4 to the L322? Is all the fuss over the L322 simply because of the superior appearance and status. Or is it that much more of a pleasure to drive? Thanks.

Thanks for the info on this, this was really helpful. I've been researching these, was kind of leaning toward the LR3 and this probably sealed the deal. I did read though that they fixed the timing chain issue in the 2013 model of LR4, and that's the one to get. Did they actually fix it, or is it still an issue even on the 2013?

Hey good folks, I have a RR Sport 2010 5.0 non supercharged and I heard that infamous chain rattle. I stopped driving the truck. I went to have it towed and started it just to pull out to assist the tow truck in picking her up and she stalled while idling. Mechanic is doing the timing job on her and all new components that come along with that. Have you guys heard of engines being ok after they stalled due to chain failure? Thanks and great vid, good to see proud actually so love these as I love mine😁

Having owned an LR4, I loved it and gave up an L322 supercharged for it. It was overall the best packaged car I think I've owned. But, I did not service the plastic cooling components early enough and they failed, causing it to overheat on the highway and resulting in repairs costing more than the car was worth. In the end, I took a loss and moved on. Also that's a sweet Series truck on the lot, think he'd sell it?

What is a timing chain guide? How would you go about diagnosing or even preventively addressing concerns of faulty plastic components or timing chain issues before a purchase? I am considering a 2010 LR4 with 130k for just under 11k and all I have to go off is the CarFax and no mention of Timing Chain service in.....ANY insight would be appreciated, what should I be on the look out for>
@rvarover Жыл бұрын
@@qp4367 if you start it up and it sounds like a diesel or a train, then it's an immediate need. Sometimes, these engines do better with more frequent (3k-5K mile) oil changes. Most shops will be $5k - $7k to replace the tensioner and chain, it's a lot of labor. Keep doing your research, there's a lot to look out for with owning one of these at the age and mileage you describe. Some say it's worth it, I don't know.

Thought of replacing my P38 with another type of name brand vehicle that is more reliable but nothing comes close to a Rover. But who buys a rover for reliability anyway? No one!!!! We buy it for the ride or just for the addition.

Good video and thinking in replacing my p38 for an LR4 but kind of need the break on the repair cost. I removed the air ride and placed springs but still rides just as good without the waiting for 15 minutes for it to rise from flat nearly every morning. The only thing is, I would never want to jump start my rover the way you did and risj comouter and electrical damage not would I jack up the back and risk damaging the boot for sure.

I just bought a 2010 LR4 with 140k miles for 5k. Beautiful truck runs very good but when you start it and sit in idle it has a little vibration. I assumed the timing chain wasn’t done but was hoping it would hold for a year or two but I think I have to address it right away (gulp) little nervous on how much this will cost me and if it’s in the 2-3k range then I think I might had made out for a total of 8k but that’s wishful thinking 🤞

I haven’t done anything yet. But I did call around and get pricing to cover all my bases when needed. Here are the best prices I found and this doesn’t include the items. 1) timing chain and guard service - $2,800 2) converting air suspension to conventional springs - $600 3) replacing plugs and coils - $400 I did pick up a bottle of- liqui Molly - $7.95 that seems like it improved performance and fuel consumption along with the vibration when cold start, It’s only been 24 hours so we’ll see. I love my LR4 overall it drives like a dream with a 140,000 miles but I want to make sure I’m prepared for any surprises. This is in the Northeast, New England Area, Boston MA
