I just had to do this recently. Another good tip I've used is don't wear makeup while your skin is healing. My skin was feeling irritated from applying makeup with fingers or brushes and maybe even from the makeup itself so cutting that out also helped speed up the healing process for me.

Something that seemed to really help me is how I cleanse my face. When I saw Dr. Dray get some cleanser from her pump bottle, I noticed she doesn't use a whole pump worth of product. It seems like a stupid difference but I noticed it and started using much less cleanser while also trying my best NOT to constantly rub it in to problem areas. Being much gentler and using less cleanser made a huge difference. I got in to skin care because I was having trouble for the first time in my mid 30s because of having to wear masks for 8 hours at work. I started putting on Vaseline (Cerave healing ointment) in thin layers to problem areas under the mask, for me the nose crease, tip of the nose and cheek nearest to my nose. I can still get a breakout but it's a very weak breakout and heals overnight. I'm miles better than when I started.

Yes derms advise that you can dilute active products with your moisturiser in order to reduce the concentration and introduce the active ingredients slowly.
@laurakirwan9993 жыл бұрын
my first suggestion is that skin barrier problems are not always caused by products. They absolutely can be the consequence of you skin regimen (and that that is fine we're not perfect) but it might not be. I experienced this in the past and I didn't do anything 'wrong' I had undiagnosed illnesses, anxiety and I had senstive skin in the first place...... I would suggest getting advice from a professional if you can. There are numerous illnesses that cause your skin to not be able to cope. You should consider avoiding sun exposure and if possible suncream on any badly affected areas (ie use hats/clothing/shade). Exploring how you support your emotional and mental health will really help you. Blaming yourself will not help you to heal. It is not uncommon for people who are ill, traumatised, experiencing severe stress etc to also experience severe skin problems. This is a time to show kindness to yourself. Also if you have rosacea you should discuss with your medical expert about not using adapline (or what ever you have been prescribed to control it) before making any major changes. You can also use a product called silcocks base to cleanse and moisturise with. It is very inexpensive and has a very high tolerance rate.

I had come to the end of my vitamin C tube and a lot splodged out, so I applied more than usual to my face and neck. Because I lie in bed reading before sleep with my head propped up, I think product accumulated in the fold of my neck and chest, possibly further irritated by that skin rubbing. Hi Michelle! I had a few questions: #1 What do you think of the hypothesis that moisturising creates a dependency, so that the skin's natural processes of moisturisation is weakened? Should one forego moisturising except in winter-times to let the skin do it's own thing? #2 I wish this video had come out 3 months sooner! I was going through horrible skin barrier damage that left me so distraught. Still not entirely recovered, but my skin constantly feels ticklish, and I've the inclination to try to scratch it or get some relief by grazing the area with a knuckle. Why would this be happening? It didn't used to happen before, and my routine of makeup or anything else really hasn't changed much.

In the next 2 days, I could see really weird whiteheads on my face and I thought that those might be acne. I applied more tret. When that didn't work and my face started having more acne, I started using Benzoyl Peroxide. That didn't work either, obviously. I started SA. Imagine what my skin must have gone through! Until one day, I was applying Vit C on my face and my entire face started stinging. Thar had never happened. Eventually, even niacinamide started stinging. Meanwhile, my acne had gotten worse and my skin looked terrible. I immediately stopped using everything. I just cleansed my skin using Simple Refreshing facial wash and then used a moisturiser that contains squalene, cica, ceramides, cholesterol etc. Thankfully, my skin is doing better now. Can you mix brands? So many face washes make my rosacea worse and I break out in a red rash as well. I use cetaphil gentle foam wash. I really want something gentle with cermacides in it too. Can I use a cerave face lotion even though I’m using cetaphil face wash? I’m anxious there could be a chemical reaction… Thank you!

I had chicken pox a few weeks ago I can see some of the redness where the spots were on face and body. I’ve spotted exfoliants and retinoids basically just using essence snail mucin ha serum sorbaline and spf 50. How else can I speed up the healing.

I can't find any Bondi Sands products in Canada besides sunscreen. Do you have any alternatives/dupes?

My skin hates any percentage of Niacinamide it seems. I went out and got over 8 products all containing Niacinamide whilst dealing broken skin barrier which is still ongoing 🙄 Lesson learned Niacinamide isn't for everyone

Not related to this video, but what do you do if your tretinoin tube develops small holes? I'm on my second tube of ReTrieve, and both of them have developed holes where I've squeezed the product out. This time it happened right away. So frustrating!! I've done a google search and it seems pretty common. People are either taping it up or throwing the tube away. Are Tretinoin creams sensitive to air, and/or would the cream react with tape that has been applied to the outside of the tube or from having aluminium wrapped around it?

Hi Michelle! I've had bad luck with sunscreens for over a year now... They pill under makeup or give me breakouts. I am still trying to find one that will stay on my face. Now I've been wondering if I could try moisturizers with SPF. Do they provide enough protection? Like Avene, La Roche? Thank you!

The rest of my face is fine but till autumn, my eyes are always irritated and I have huge red spot undereye, like I have applied blush They hurt and makes me so mad, I don't know what's the cause. I have extremely sensitive skin so I already avoid fragrance and essential oils

But. But… 10% niacinamide? Isn’t it what’s irritating to most (not all)? And weren’t studies done at lower %? 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️

This seems to be what I keep experiencing. Im about to say good bye to differin gel for good although I really want a retinol at my age. I definitely cannot tolerate glycolic acid at all any longer. My daughter uses vanicream moisturizer, and we both use the cleanser but Im about to switch to the moisturizer myself. Too many actives makes for an overwhelming routine. My customers get overwhelmed as well.
