I've had so many people ask me how I got started on KZbin. Also I get asked all the time for advice on starting your very own KZbin Channel. Figured I'd make a quick video giving my experience and hopefully help some of you "take the plunge". This KZbin channel has been absolutely life changing for myself, I encourage all of you to take the first step and start a channel today.
This is a different style of video for the channel so let me know if you liked it. I'd love to make a few more video's on the subject if that's something y'all would find interesting.

You might as well subscribe to it to support what you feel is worth supporting. and I sub to him because he is keeping the dream alive, if we don't have and support gents like him then we will lose these fine machines to the smelting pot.

Older guy here at 55. I have lived the Hotrod life from childhood, invested all my money and time into cars, tools and a shop. My entertainment was watching other car people on KZbin, one night there you are with your whiteboard. I was inspired and got started with my own channel the next day! I am currently paying my dues in the trenches just worrying about good content. If money comes someday it’s going directly back into the hobby. I appreciate the pep talk, I try to give you good advice and wish I was close enough to really be helpful. I consider you a friend and will always owe you a debt of gratitude! Thanks! Shawn

I’m 66, and live near Charlotte NC. I’ve been watching for a while and I’ve commented a few times and you’ve answered. I’ve owned some tri-5s in the past, but the coupe that you built from scratch brought me here and I subscribed. I follow so many KZbinrs that I no longer watch regular TV. Yours is one of my “must see” channels. Guys like you are putting out real “Reality” programming. Also most KZbinrs are sole proprietors which makes it more relatable. Thanks for your time and efforts, I really enjoy your channel. In the past, I’ve posted a video or two and had a few negative comments. I would just say “Thanks for watching.” I have a GoPro 5 and a ‘79 El Camino that I’m going to do a restomod and document it for KZbin. I’m not looking for revenue bucks, like you I just want to document the build. I’ve watched both videos you’ve done about being a KZbinr, thanks for sharing the “real story”.

Dan, Thanks for sharing your experiences and telling it like it really is. I started watching at the beginning of the 57 two door conversion and look forward to seeing your next video's. Your videos show how you can work out a home garage, no fancy shop, no fancy tools, just what you have around. Anybody that has the funds can have a $100K + car built at a fancy shop, but you've shown your subscribers how to do it themselves in there own home garage and be proud of their accomplishments and you should be proud as well. You have a great support system in place and my hat is off to you. One last thing, MORE MURR!!!! Thanks Joe, New Hampshire.

Dan this video was really good , you put things out there that people like myself appreciate. Nobody is perfect and you always say you don't know anything, but I was always told that the person who said that they know everything really knows nothing. My whole life has been about old cars and trucks, so I know what you mean and you are sincere in what you say. Yes life gets in the way of things and sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Projects get put on the back burner so you can keep the rest of your life moving on. I have been turning a wrench since I was 10, so 50 years later I'm still doing it and not stopping . I'm not rich and never will be ,but I'm happy to do what I do . So I say you and everyone out there keep doing what you are doing ,if it's building something from nothing to watching someone do and appreciating it . Than you did a good job!

Morning Dan, to cut down wind noise when you are outside try putting a little piece of gorilla tape over the mic opening on your phone. It cuts the wind noise substantially but still allows the mic to pick up tunes, engine noise, talking ect, and it is an easy cost effective way to do it. I've tried wind socks and tape works better when I do live rides on my bikes. Have a great day. ✌

Dan your videos have continually inspired me to complete my various car projects, and to just get out there and wrench on something. Just finished picking up a 1967 C10, which was inspired by your C10 series. My friend was sending it to the shredder because he felt it was way too rusty to be worth anything to anyone. I knew from your videos how simple the rust repairs were and learned how to do a short bed conversion. Keep up the great work, and remember always stay humble and hustle hard, and good things always will come your way.

We’re remembering how we did the exact same thing at your age- only without a camera!! For example: I’m almost 70 years old and now have physical handicaps as well as being older. I can no longer do what you can do- I can in my mind, but not in the body! I enjoy watching you work on the very cars that were “under my own wrench” if you get my meaning! You’re simply repeating what a lot of us did in our youth, therefore that’s the attraction!!! Keep em rolling on!

Dan - there is a ton of content out there for us auto-voyeurs, but one of the things that makes yours so great is you make it all seem do-able, compared to many people with their plasma tables, multiple lifts, etc., and things that I can't imagine working with. I found you with the 4 door to two door conversion. That was your watershed video. When I can't sleep, I think about building engines, if that doesn't do it I build a transmission in my head, when that doesn't work I think about block sanding quarter panels and that always works because it makes me want to sleep while I am doing it. I have an addiction to old cars too, my entire life has been built around old cars and making them drivable and go faster. I'm not big on making videos, not like I am about cars. I wish I had made video of my last five builds rather than taking pictures of it, but I didn't start watching youtube until about two years ago. I am still amazed I have over 100 people who subscribed to my channel with the minimal videos I have on it. Despite having schooling and decades of experience, I too am a hack.. Good enough is good enough, perfection is a metric crapton more work. Been doing videos of my projects every now and then over the last five years, one of my problems is I can't film and work at the same time with what I have. The other things are I don't like to see myself, I rarely look in a mirror even, and the sound of my voice on tape irritates the hell out of me. I'm getting better about it, but I don't want to inflict my visage on others any more than I have to. I know, nobody cares what I look or sound like, people in my life don't seem too bothered by it, but I am.. Keep doing what ya do Dan, you, SRC, and a couple others keep me motivated to actually do stuff with my vehicles beyond my own personal drive, even if I don't make videos of it.

I dont watch a ton of KZbin, between work, rehabbing a house plus making time building / filming my 55 build. But I gotta tell ya, I never miss an episode of DDSPEEDSHOP. You do have a great family/support system. Keep rolling Dan. ✌

I fully agree with you. My wife and I have been playing around with KZbin videos off and on for a while now. Do what makes you happy. I do my videos with a old camcorder and a tripod from a thrift store. Keep it cheap and keep it real. You guys do a great job at what you do keep it up.

Hello, my name is Todd I’ve been going through some difficult times over the past ten year’s. I’ve been rebuilding a 23 t roadster that my dad gave me from the ground up. I started by building a new frame and went on from there. I think it’s great that you have people that care about you and support you. That is a real blessing. I’m not a bible banger as they say but I do believe. God has blessed you with so much!! You’re friend hot rod Todd.

I’ve said before I look forward to all your videos, I have a chopped 51 ford project, that is going nowhere right now, age and life tend to get in the way from time to time but like someone else commented on here you keep me motivated enough to want to keep plugging along , keep doing what your doing

I think it’s pretty awesome that you are very encouraging to everyone else to take the jump and start a channel. I also think it’s great that your real motivation is to get other people involved in saving old cars and hot rods! You are correct that they aren’t going to be around forever. Wish they all could be saved! New cars have some cool features but they just don’t have that character.

You nailed it in may levels. Ive been on this for 10 years . Time is my biggest problem now the last few years. But I still am addicted to it and haven't left you tube , just no time to right now like I use to have. It's a lot like a club . I've made a lot of friends over the years . We message and talk back and forth , but most I will never meet in person . Love your channel, I may not comment a lot. But I'm watching when I can .

I remember I found you on Instagram and you were asking if you should make a KZbin. I was one of the first subscribers to your channel here and im not going to lie, your first couple videos didn't really catch my attention, but I kept with ya and its amazing to see how far you've come in the last year or 2. I'm still getting ready to start my channel aswell. Keep up the work and the videos! Cant wait to see what 2021 brings!

Hey Dan! I've been a fan since, well you pegged it, the 2 door conversion. You among others inspired me to create my very small channel. 6 months in and basically everything you said is true. It's like a whole second job so you have to love it. I do have kids and a full-time job so I approached it slightly different. It's not all auto based content. Everyone has things around the house that needs fixed so I figured if I'm gonna do it I might as well record it and put it out there to help others. Keep up the great work and thanks for some further inspiration!

Great video Dan. This is my 2 cents. I think you have come a long way, since I 1st started watching your channel and the sound (volume) was awful at times. I enjoy not only that your videos are informative but I also love the type of cars you are working on. There are people out there that have more subs than you, because they are funny. They do the same kind of videos as you, but they have funny comments during the video. And for that silly reason they get more subs. In these difficult times, helping people to laugh, and showing auto repair, is great. Even if I don't always like the type of vehicle they are working on. But I wouldn't start telling jokes or saying funny things now on your videos, as that is not you. And it would sound forced. I say if you like what you are, and you are making a little money on the side. FANTASTIC! Don't change a thing. Do you know how many people only wish they could do what you do? And have a girlfriend or spouse that would support them. I'd say you are a very lucky man. As usual, thank you for entertaining us. P.S looks like you hit your 57k subs (between you and Danni) I can't for the life of me figure out why it's not 500k but it will get there. I'm sure

You say that you not very skilled, but I’d respectfully disagree. You have a ton a great content and your vids are entertaining and informative. You and Danni are a down to earth couple doing what you love. You inspire people to get into their own projects and for that you deserve a huge pat on the back. Keep doing great stuff while you enjoy it.

Danny, you are such a good kid. I’m twice your age and can’t wait to see your videos. When I was young, I worked like you. Today, I’m successful, but certainly not rich. That said, I raised two great kids that are successful!!! I’m happy and always interesting in learning. Thanks for the videos 🙏.

i started watching your video's about a year or so ago..the reason i watch everything you put up is.. i enjoy watching a down to earth guy doing what he loves.. and is willing to share his way of getting a hot rod built.. weather it is the right way or not..anyone can buy a hot rod but it takes a true car lover to build them from scratch..i appreciate all the video's and look forward to those to come..
