@rhui66314 жыл бұрын
@@nolanchrisman2034 I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to be when I was in HS and most of college. I didn't decide on medicine until I did some shadowing of different specialties and getting a part time job in healthcare. Other than doing well in school I would reccomend shadowing different specialties and exploring if medicine is right for you. Also as you get older when it comes to school be adaptable in your learning. What works in HS might work in college but will not work in med school. I know a lot of people that didnt really need to study to do well in HS/college then failed their first few tests in med school. Recognize when something isnt working and focus on fixing it. Other than that shadow, volunteer, good grades/mcat then excellent grades and board scores in med schools will land you in ortho. Basically what medschool insiders says. This channel helped me as an undergrad a lot. goodluck !

I feel as if a lot of people don’t know about sports medicine - I shadowed a sports med doc and it was a great learning opportunity. I had no idea you could be “ortho” without the surgery. I’ve watched a couple of ortho-related surgeries in the past as well. I completely agree with the “what you’d love/no love about ortho” section of the video with what I have experienced. Also enjoyed the radiology component of it all.

My orthopedic surgeon is one of the best and highest rated in Alaska. My knee replacement went well and 9 months later ready to ski again. But as for his personality, he’s very self-contained and if you’re an outgoing person or someone that needs reassurance and a lot of communication, he’s not that type. He doesn’t waste time with small talk or chit chat.

I disagree on the foot and ankle section Dr. Jubbal. Doctors of Podiatric Medicine complete 3 years of foot and ankle surgery residency after four years of Podiatric Medical School (which is very similar to the lay out of traditional medical school). They also have further sub-specialization fellowship options post residency. In my experience they are just as qualified for any complex lower extremity procedures.

James B. No, but in german it’s frequently referred to as “orthoblöde”, which roughly means “ortho-stupid”. Jokes aside (or not), there was a 2008 paper in the british journal of medicine titled “the orthopedic surgeon: as strong as an ox, and almost half as bright?” that found, after comparative testing, that not only the average orthopedics are stronger than the average anesthesiologists, but also have a significantly higher IQ. Which is completely true. Regards, cephir MD, resident in orthopedic and trauma surgery.
