Let's forget the several incorrect terminologies and appreciate that an American comedy sketch on soccer was not inherantly based on trashing the game itself. As an American soccer fan, I am proud with how the game has grown in this country. We've come a long way from the Simpsons' "Open wide for some soccer" bit.

@@ryansmith1044 But the term "soccer" is wrong. It's degrading to the beautiful game of football. I don't know why Americans always need to do things their own way. Show more respect to a game that has developed hundreds of years before America even existed...
@ryansmith10443 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelHolmgaard The term "soccer" was invented by the Brits, and they still use it today sometimes, with their programs like "Soccer Saturday" and "Soccer AM", and they also have a magazine called "World Soccer".
@MichaelHolmgaard3 жыл бұрын
@@ryansmith1044 Yeah but Soccer was a knickname used at University levels, not the actual sport. It was just to distinguish between Association Football & Rugby Football. The Brits never actually used that term for Football. It was the Americans who ended up officially naming football as soccer. So it's wrong to call it soccer. At least if you wanna respect the game
