"Barbacoa can actually be several different meat types is more about the cooking process". As a Mexican, I tell you that you are correct. Many people do not understand that there are many different types of barbacoas!! The barbacao varies in each city of Mexico and with people's preferences. Great video!!

Truth. I'm skinny with a size 30 waist, and i don't know how that happens here. We take literally every opportunity to go eat pizza followed by coffee at Blue Brick. Or Las Palapas at 3 in the morning. Or Greek food either at Deimos or Mina & Dimi's. Or wherever Tre Trattoria has moved. and the random Thai and Vietnamese restaurants. OMG I love those places.

@Bud Green I don't know where you're going or what you do there but when we go, we go for walks, a meal and for the ambiance. The walks and the ambiance don't cost a thing, and the meals are comparable to anywhere else in San Antonio. We usually eat at Casa Rio because the food is great and has been for at least 75 years!

San Antonian dropping in. Our food is the one major factor really keeping this town alive. We of course have good concert venues like Aztec Theatre and the AT&T center, and smaller places to see underground music like Paper Tiger, Bang Bang Bar, Limelight, etc. But munching on our cuisines while going to the historic sites is what really does it for the mainstream and I love the town that it's built from that. So many amazing small restaurants (our beloved 210 Pizza) on our street had to close down for good. I'm glad to see you were able to get so much enjoyment out of the ones still open, and hopefully when this is all over and people are hopefully given loans or something to start over that you guys come back and see what we're like when corona isn't happening. Buenos viajes

What San Antonio isn’t on the culinary map? It’s the birth place of Tex mex cuisine and the ones that innovates on the cuisine. Y’all need to try some birria quesatacos, marzapan waffles, marzapan horchata. San Antonio also has a Culinary Institute of America which contributes in the Pearl. The Pearl is a good place to get an idea of the culinary scene of San Antonio. As for the riverwalk pro tip park at the Pearl and walk all the way to downtown. Downtown parking as you said it’s expensive and not worth it.

For anyone not from San Antonio looking to visit, please do. There's some really awesome places to check out. But I wouldn't recommend the Pearl Farmer' Market. It's not really a farmer's market anymore where you can get fresh produce. It's more of a place where venders sell their products, albeit they have nice stuff to buy, but don't expect to see local farmers selling their crops.

Tellez is the best. The aroma takes me back to my childhood. The line for tamales on the holidays is down the block. Welch’s grape soda, Orange Crush & Big Red have the highest sugar content. Barbacoa & Big Red are regular Sunday morning meals for most San Antonians. There are tons of great Barbacoa places throughout the city. FYI: in Spanish the “i” sounds like a long “e”. The “e” sounds like a long “a”. Car-nay Gee-SA-Tha (the “d” sounds like a “th”).

If you pause at 13:10 you can see my balcony, it's that first building on the right, third balcony. You took that drone shot from the bridge that crosses Chavez, it's a really nice area. The apartment building is called Agave, also as a side note a good friend of mine feel into the riverwalk a week ago right there where you drone shot is.

I love San Antonio. We just spent a day and night there. We saw The Alamo, went to Mass and then the Riverwalk. Perfect day.

"That's what they used to call me in Highschool" 😂 I don't know why San Antonio calls it "Fideo Loco" when my grandma used to make it the same exact way growing up in Brownsville, Texas and she would always call it "Fideo" or "Fideo con Carne" Also it makes me sad that it was bland for you guys. Good fideo if made right is soooooo flavorful. We also add chouloula to it for a splash of flavor along with a splash of lime.

This is cool. If you guys like these things, I recommend going to Laredo TX. I've been in San Antonio TX for all my adult life, but born and raised in Laredo. Food in Laredo is amazing.

I lived in the Rio Grande Valley for 12 years......I really miss breakfast tacos. Once we made cabrito on the grill, wow was that delicious. Cabrito=young goat.

There are so many places in San Antonio. We do have more restaurants then just TexMex. I am glad yall tried Hot Joy cause that place is unique and tasty. Singh's, Hop and Vine, and Mr C's are great options too
