Weaponised empathy might be better than none at all. To me it's not so much the minority rights, or even the feminism destroying the power structure, as the general intolerance. The idea that there is no room for anyone else's victimhood except for their own, or anyone deserving of respect except for themselves. That and the general habit of so many to ally themselves to the persecutor, and to turn against and scapegoat the idealistic rebel. Media propaganda probably seals the deal. Can videos like this compete with advertising and other mainstream media?

In my workplace we use a DEI calendar to guide some of our social media posts. As I looked at the plethora of commemorative days on the DEI calendar, it's dawning on me the intent behind the calendar. It is meant to remind us all year long of the supposed oppression of various identity groups. Also, by filling 52 weeks a year with various DEI commerative days, it competes with, minimizes and displaces all the traditional holidays and events. I've also noticed that various news agencies like NPR are constantly reminding us of these special commemorative DEI days while often running negative stories about traditional holidays. It is clear they ARE going after the "four olds." And the young are the perfect conduit. They have no life experience or perspective about recent history. They can be completely hoodwinked by techniques like fast-forwarding historical events to present day and omitting decades of progress. Thank you for speaking out.

At the heart of what is now derisively being called 'woke' is an empathy for people who have been disadvantaged. Wanting to help people who have been (or are currently being) dismissed, demeaned, verbally attacked, (and yes at times) physically attacked.... is not a bad thing. -Black people have been systemically oppressed in this country since before it's foundation. That has left way too many black people in a multi-generational hole that is extremely hard to get out of. There are now people who are overtly racist against black people, and they are feeling emboldened. -LGBTQ people are now literally being targeted for just being who they are. -There is now a rise in antisemitism in this country. There are groups of people of people who HATE Jewish people and they are now feeling themselves emboldened. -Immigrants (legal and illegal) are, way too often, targeted for abuse. This oppression is real, it is affecting people's lives, and people are literally dying because of it. My biggest problem with this video is that it feeds into the very simplistic 'WOKE' IS BAD mentality that shuts down thought and empathy. Life is far more nuanced and interesting than this good v bad, right v wrong perspective. Learning about how other people view the world (whether you agree with it or not) is fundamental in getting a healthy society. With social media, that seems to be getting lost.

@jjones9822 Жыл бұрын
Retaliation is fine. People need to fight against this Marxist indoctrination because it is toxic and harmful. They are already brainwashing children. I recall a video where elementary students played a game where they took steps forward and backward. Example: if you were born in the country step forward, if not then step backward; if English is your first language step forward, if not then step backward. By the end of the exercise the brown children were standing 30ft behind the white kids and the woke teachers were telling them this is how disadvantaged they were. I believe this was in Britain. This exercise was debunked by actual statistics which showed that the white kids were more likely to end up taking blue collar jobs and living lower, middle class lives whereas the Asian, black, and middle Eastern kids were more likely to go on to University. These were the statistical facts. So the exercise was basically a giant lie used to make these children feel guilty or oppressed. It’s a lie and it’s sick.

Racism will never be completely eliminated, the important thing was to get that out of government, people will still hold their individual beliefs about other people, and for the most part that should be tolerated as a part of freedom of speech, it is not the government's job to reeducate or propagandize people! We should not be using totalitarian methods to try and eliminate racism as the woke so advocate, we should try to convince people that its in their best interests not to be racist, but its a two-way street! If white people feel they are being discriminated against in the interest of fighting racism, they will become more racist in reaction to being set up as second class citizens in effect. I live in the South, and at many times I felt that if the United States was to go woke, then the South should secede again and this time for a just cause. if blacks and whites cannot live peacefully together as equals then they should separate! Separation worked in the middle east between Palestinians and Jews, there is only so much forced integration can do, and if people are killing each other, then perhaps saving lives is more important than forcing two groups to live together in the same neighborhood!

It took a long time to process all those experiences, compounded by making the desperately lonely and incredibly dumb mistake of trying to date someone who openly called herself a “man-hating feminist.” Both the job and the dating taught me how much people are trying to mess with each others’ minds to gain a competitive edge. Of course this would be irksome thrown back at “us”. How do we then get evolution? Can it be done without revolution?

Ayn Rand called this out almost 100 years ago. She laid it out beautifully how these people leverage everyone's guilt to get them to (effectively) bend the knee. The woke crowd are children throwing a temper tantrum. The weak, guilty-feeling, adults, cater to them because they think they are helping. But it is a lie. They are only trying to appease their own guilt. Real grown ups, ignore such behavior. Bret, while a sharp dude, still can't see the underlying nature of the movement.

It’s ancient Hebrew Tribalism. They reduced everyone to which tribe they were from, or if none, they were a “gentile”, which they consider the scum of the earth. It has never, ever changed. They simply expanded the system. Instead of the tribes, it is the races and the genders. None of this bullshit applies, or can be applied, to Jewish people. There’s a reason for that. They are, literally and figuratively, above it all. God’s chosen people, the ultimate form of racial and religious supremacy. When you get down to brass tacks, it is the very same claim that the Aryans make, but we call those people racist Nazis for daring to make the same claim Jews have made for thousands of years. The Jews remain a cohesive, unified collective while the Gentiles are divided down into meaningless, impotent, easily controlled groups. Any attempts to unify are met with subversive strategies to keep us divided. We’re at a point in history where we do the dividing to ourselves. No, I do not hate Jews. I’m simply at a point where I’m no longer willing to pretend that this paradigm doesn’t exist, because it does. You can recognize it whenever you hear of oppression. That’s the tool that they use. They convince one group that another group is oppressing them, and that always results in people taking sides. When people take sides, they become divided. Divided, they fall.
@michaelkeymont5012 жыл бұрын
@@jimmoses6617 I totally agree. Thank you for your thoughtful and spot on reply. I worked for Bose Corp for 18 years and in a meeting with over 150 participants, someone voiced the concern that “there were way too many white people at the Christmas party…”. It was met with agreement that it was “a concern”. In reality, the company has a very large population of Indian folks who don’t celebrate Christmas and, despite the fact that the party is advertised as a “holiday party”, they simply didn’t come. Likewise, the substantial number of Muslim and Jewish folks didn’t come, likely for similar reasons. At the end of the day, the party was deemed to be racist because so many white people DID choose to join in. While my comment could be misconstrued as “anti-semitic”, the fact is that communism and socialism are verifiably rooted in Judaism. It didn’t just appear out of thin air, and there is significant history of how those ideologies have been pushed in the past, and by who. The line between those who truly hate the Jewish community and those who simply call a spade a spade is NOT thin, but it is made to appear that way, and that is how this is able to continue. My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was a Jew, as were every one of the apostles, and my spiritual and moral life are predicated on their teachings, which are based on the Torah. Yet, I’ve been called a Nazi so many times I’ve lost count and I no longer even care. The fact is, while I was raised a Catholic, I’ve also come to understand the falsehoods and shortcomings of that religion every bit as much as I do with Judaism and the crazy evangelical Christians, among others. The difference is in the balance of power and influence. There are 2 religions that staunchly oppose abortion, for example - Christians and Muslims. There’s only 1 major Abrahamic religion remaining, and they outspokenly support it. Likewise with the issues of homosexuality and transgenderism, both of which are spoken about at length in the Bible and the Quran, and not in a positive light. I have many criticisms of the Muslim community, but also many areas of agreement. The difference is that Muslims don’t control Hollywood and the Western media, global banking, the porn industry, the debt institutions and so on. Communism and socialism are the tools, but knowing who the tool maker is matters if we are to put an end to what’s being done to us. Even if a person disagrees with my premise, one has to ask himself how the transgender community, which is infinitesimal, has so much power and influence all around the world. Someone else is pushing it, and that someone has enormous influence in the media (social and traditional), education as you point out, and the banking systems.

When I first began speaking about the same things a decade ago, the projections came a flyin’. The amount of relationship damage (interpersonal and social) this type of ideology does is beyond calculation. Like you mentioned about yourself, I went to a school and agreed to all those “principles” that seemed so positive, only to later see how they were really being used as part of a power game. Because I initially bought in hook, line, and sinker, so to speak, I have a lot of empathy for those possessed by this ideology, though I realize how much folks prefer power to compassionate, loving and forgiving correction. “Better to never admit your wrong” seems to be one of the unconscious mottos of this type of ideology - which makes sense - sense redemption, restoration, and harmony seem to be the antithesis to this mindset.

I grew up poor and had to work throughout my high school and college years at various jobs flipping hamburgers, cabbie, custodian, working in a gum factory, etc. I never considered myself as any sort of victim. My parents never taught us anything of the sort. They taught us that reality was simply something to deal with, difficulties were just something to overcome. Nobody owed us anything. They also taught us an appreciation for living in America, the land of opportunity (for those willing to work for it). We took that opportunity and made the most of it. Hearing about "white privilege" just makes me laugh, particularly because it's usually coming from someone who had a far more privileged life than me.

It would behoove one from a young age to take on an hobby where success can only be achieved via ones effort, where no amount of outside influence makes you better without your own energy expended. If someone is upset because I say “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”, it’s because they are under the misconception that I’m automatically privileged due to my skin tone. I AM privileged, but it’s not because of my skin, it’s because I worked for it..I worked hard for it. I sent this to some of my younger friends because this has to be heard. People need to think very hard about these things and ask themselves if equal outcomes is actually worth sacrificing your right to choose your outcomes by your actions. The latter will certainly have its bouts of pain and hardship but comes with equal freedoms for all people. The first will promise equal outcomes, inevitably fail because it's basically impossible to manipulate things that way because we aren't machines, and will absolutely lead to misery and more bitterness because we will feel dependent on the government which seeks to control us. That's actually how that will go down. All humans must start with varying degrees of disadvantage, and we should see to help each other in every way we can, but we can not allow the government to FORCE each of us to give. That will destroy us. It absolutely will.

Social Justice as "a philosophy of anti-resilience" ... very nicely put. Regarding the post Civil Rights generation's version of color-blindness, "We wait for a person to show us who they are" -- also really well said. That's what therapists should be doing. It's also interesting that this aphorism "What does not kill me makes me stronger" is by Nietzsche, whose analysis of master and slave morality included especially the concept of "ressentiment", which seems integral to the Social Justice movement. Given Nazism and the horrible things done everywhere and at all times to oppressed people, it can seem hard-hearted, perhaps, to analyze a form of morality that can arise out of being subjugated and call it lacking. But there is the unfortunate psychological fact, popularized by Steven Karpman, of the tendency for us to engage in the "Drama Triangle" of Victim, Abuser, and Rescuer -- moving from role to role without ever finding a way out of it. And so resentment creates more injury creating more resentment; and helpers become abusers, etc. The only way out that I see is a turn inward (with help, sometimes, from a therapist who will guide in rather than out) and the willingness to take radical self-responsibility for one's life, no matter what has happened to oneself. Not easy at all but better than the alternative.

Yes, I agree with you. It is an inner process, and while another person (mentor/friend/counselor etc) can help one do this, motivation must be found within oneself. External direction can appear callous and dismissive. The cliche I mention in the video and you cite here is not a favorite of mine, but it comes easily to mind because I watched as students in one of my counseling courses reacted very strongly to it in class, as if it were obscenely offensive. Curiously, there were two or three foreign born (non-western) students present, and they perceived it differently than the American students: to them it was an encouragement to strength, triumph over adversity, and perseverance. The contrast was interesting to me, and the vehemence of the American students' reaction telling of the unanimity of thought among those who adopt the SJ mindset.

This is an intelligent and fair summary of SJ ideology. I laughed at your point about anti-resilience, since I recently made a similar general point about modern students to someone who immediately rejected it for ideological reasons. Yet thinking about it calmly, the idea of resilience, or standing up for yourself, are almost universal virtues in all cultures except the postmodern West. Everyone is mixed race☝️

@@kxkxkxkx sure, but I can trace my current mix back hundreds of years on both sides.

You just can’t say anything without mentioning your racial status, can you? You are the problem as long as you continue doing that.

@@michaelkeymont501 no I’m actually not. I only mention it because in cases like this. They need to see they are hurting the people they intend to help. I’m NOT what you are projecting. If you are watching Leslie’s videos I’d say we are likely on the same side. Character is what matters. Being a decent human.

@@CarobMarcelle we probably ARE on the same side. That said, if you’re going to bring up your race - for any reason whatsoever - I wish you weren’t on my side. Try to make your point without ever mentioning your race. Really. See if you can do it. The truth is, without that mention, you didn’t make any point at all, other than to state that you share fear. There are people of every generation that have courage, so that’s not a valid point that was made either. Everyone, except for psychopaths, has empathy. That’s literally the thing that qualifies a person as a psychopath… Both the use of racial status as a credential and the talk of fear are purely leftist approaches to discussing a topic. You don’t need either, and both detract from the conversation. Every sentence that starts off with “as a…” followed by where you fit in the spectrum of identity politics IS using identity politics, and that shit has to stop. That’s from where they derive power. Because you said that, I know that you and I aren’t on the same EXACT side, because I’m not mixed race. It only took you 4 sentences to tell people how you’re different from them. I say all of this with love and in the hope that we can learn to identify how they’ve tricked us into dividing ourselves into meaningless groups by always labeling ourselves by race, gender etc. Give it some thought. I’ve said all of this without telling you my race or gender or which “generation” I fall into. I don’t need to. That info wouldn’t add anything meaningful to the discussion.

Very frustrating to know exactly what story your former “colleagues” (congregants) will tell themselves about you once you’ve defected. Reminds me of Scientology or that Warren Jeffs cult. Reputation version of fire and brimstone. We admire your bravery!

This thought process is so insightful AND inciteful. The thumb suckers aren’t going to like it. But thank you for taking the time to articulate what I’ve known but could not express as rationally as you have here.
