Hi! Happy Friday, everyone. I'm currently in the state of Oregon for my friend's wedding. I thought the mountains would be especially fitting for this week's video since I'll also be doing a photo shoot with some while I'm here. How are you all enjoying my wood burning videos?! I'm already making one for next week, because I'm enjoying creating these pieces so very much. Thank you so much for watching! I hope to see you back again next Friday for another new video. ♥︎ Sarah

Maybe in your next wood burning video it would be cool for you to experiment with using wood stain to add color/shading :) just think it would be cool to see it used as an art medium

This video sparked a childhood memory for me. In the neighborhood I grew up in there was this cool younger couple a few houses down from me. The wife was an artist and her husband was a pilot and they had a workshop in their basement where she did art and he was building a small plane. They had the most rad house I’ve ever seen! The way she decorated it was sooo cool omg. The best way to describe it was early 2000’s spice girls vibes haha. Anyway, I’d go to their house and the wife would have me make art with her and I remember making some wood burning projects with her. I’m sure I still have them somewhere stored away, I’d love to find them and put them up in my house now. These are some of my fondest childhood memories. Thanks for helping me remember some of them from this video 💖💖💖

I really love this piece! The rose was very pretty (c'mon, a freaking rainbow rose!), but I felt like it looked so good despite the medium and less because of it. This one, I think, really takes advantage of the wood-iness and the grains and the nature feel and looks super cool! I like how the curve of the grain plays with the rainbow and the composition in general. Looking at the thumbnail I thought the shading on the mountains was also various levels of burn, but I guess it'd require a much more precise tool - and I mean, yeah, the result looks very organic! I really liked the mountains-only version, too. Overall, super fun!

Nice video Sarah & welcome to wood burning. 😁 I found wood burning 14 years and have not looked back... it is my main art media. 😍 If you don't mind I do have a few tips I would like to share. 1) Dampen the wood and let it dry. Then sand 220 grit, 320 grit, and lastly 400 grit. This will make a bigger difference in smoothness. 2) Using the spade shader, flip it and turn down the heat. You are less likely to catch the grain. I only used my walnut hollow for 2 projects before upgrading. Evey now & again I use it on my channel. Well maybe once a year. 😆 If you choose to upgrade please get in contact with me. I can help you wade through the info and I have reviews. 3) After all of that time burning, I wouldn't recommend copics. Since they are dye based they will fade even if the wood is sealed. Colored pencils or acrylics are a better way to go for bright color. 4) For transferring, carbon transfer paper is not really what you want to use with Pyrography. You want wax free graphite paper for this. The white label walnut hollow graphite paper works well. 5) To finish this piece off... spray with a polycrylic first to seal in the color. Then brush on a few layers of polycrylic with a sponge brush. Please let me know if you have any other questions. There is still so much to learn about this beautiful art form. Also, please feel free to check out my channel. I have over 150 wood burning videos. Happy burning! 🔥

Really love this it looks beautiful, Enjoy mixed material art. suggestion for next time to incorporate the wood grain center. Would have looked nice with the mountains in front and the center rings shown off with rainbow in the back. But the art is in the beholder, sometimes you find inspiration from the view of others.

Suggestion for those that draw on their pieces ahead of time - use a higher B pencil. I personally use a 3B. The pencil lead is harder so it make much lighter lines and also the lead that is left is less likely to smudge. I did that with my last painting and it really worked. Erased pretty easily as well.
