Eaxactly what i was thinking. It's going to be a lot more of a part of some psychological sci-fi horror than anything good. As if the upper class didn't treat the mid to lower class bad enough, even more so in that country. Reminds me of the move "The Platform".

Think of the sheer amount of steel required to create even a portion of this, will Australia be able to sell their steel? IIRC most of it is already pre-purchased by China. Expect massive new mines in Africa & South America. Very few countries are opening new coal mines, which is required to make steel. The solar power will also be insanely expensive as China has purchased most of the polysilicon.

best possible scenario is this structure becomes a centerpiece for a dystopian story. On a serious note I don't think they'll build it all in one go otherwise most of it would be uninhabited, just like any apartment complex or any commercial/residential buildings they'd need tenants first or it'll just be like China's abandoned cities.

The biggest issue I have with the line is the cost of living. It’s going to be a rich persons paradise and there simply isn’t enough rich people to fill the line. If a large amount of lower paid citizens join you also run the issue of what typically happens in lower poverty areas.

Take all of those years to build buildings, like the trade center, due to lawyers, permits, funding, noise complaints (construction), etc. If all of those are gone, it would take a fraction of that time to build it... Not to mention, The wall is a different build entirely. Could be extremely doable, especially with a wealthy country backing it. If other countries get involved, the work force could drastically increase (although I'm sure they're fine).

the math is bad on the building taking 8 years and comparing it to the wall...that building has full infrastructure inside, offices, internet, bathrooms, many many floors, these walls are just barriers....wont take anywhere near as long and you can mass produce a duplicated product that fits modularly...so no it wont take anywhere near that long. ALTHOUGH I do agree this is a daunting task that is doubtful to happen to completion.

There's a reason why we don't see entire cities devoted to wind or solar energy. It just isn't enough; in fact, nowhere near enough. Green proponents don't really take into account just how much energy a MODERN city requires, and this mega-project is certainly just another way of embezzling funds. It will never get created because the physics required for it requires a gargantuan amount of money that even a bunch of rich Saudi oil barons couldn't hope to come close to. Also, that whole "no cars needed everything is within a 5 minute walk" reeks of Soviet commie blocks. And I shouldn't have to tell you how those turned out and how people living in them absolutely despised them.

@@Metallijosh100 hope shouldn’t be limited that’s what hope literally is. Rational thinking and hope has no relation so why shame the people who have hope and tries to do something for theirs? If you wanna hate/criticize sure, but blaming the people who are actually trying is degenerate.

@@scoutwilliams5875 You mean blaming people who are actively trying to waste trillions of money on mega projects that'll 99% fail? How is that degenerate?
