As was told to me 21 years ago when i enlisted as I still believe to be true to this day, but think it was said by my instructors to drop the PT stud down a few notches. Most standard fitness tests in the military are an easy to train for and are an easy to test standard in bulk numbers. Just because you score max doesn’t make you a better service member or fitter overall it just means you’re better at the fitness test. You should not train only for the test but have a good all around fitness and it’ll serve you better than training specifically for the test. I’m glad to see over the last 20 years fitness tests evolving from the run, sit ups, push ups and maybe pull ups in most allied militaries.

Army ACFT is a lot better than the APFT. I would like to see your breakdown regarding correlation with ACFT performance vs. SFAS / Q-Course success.

It’s really not because they don’t test the acft to get into selection

0:48 the way you ask it makes it seem trivial, but the differentiation is that they are opposite: *One test has the aim, and as naturally follows corresponding policies, to allow as much people in as possible according to the standard *The other test has the aim and it's corresponding policies to eliminate as many as possible according to the standard

i guess the ift really doesn’t matter, because guys can be at the bare minimums and still get selected over ones who have great scores that make it to the end of selection. i heard guys should try to get jacked after they’ve made it on team. before going in cals, cardio, rucking and water con is more important than moving weights. a lot of muscle isn’t going to help you for the 5-6 months you’re in the water going through the afsw pipeline. but i’m sure it’ll help you not fall behind on rucks

Explain how he is helping a lot of guys? His own site says they aren't SOF and aren't affiliated with any military branch, but trains people to get selected.

Quick and easy way to see if people can follow instructions to meet a standard and have a base fitness level while minimizing risk of injury. If they had a good test for work capacity and recovery, they'd probably avoid some rhabdomyolysis drops. A good laborer is not always a good soldier, but a good soldier is always a good laborer.

VO2 Max VO2 Max VO2 Max..... if I could go back I would double down on that, shin bone density, hypoxic training and heart rate variability... cals are a breeze to scale once you know yourself intimately... definitely should have run more...

Cross fit is what you need to do because if your super heavy in buds your not gonna make it through, but you need to be able to carry high volume, at buds no one cares about push-ups.

I thought fitness tests would be an actual indicator, for example a 100 pushups in 2 minutes is already hard enough. I'm very very worried about myself, and that school/work is getting in the way of the exercise I want. I used to do 44 pushups in less than a minute, now I can't even do 30-40.

I think foam rolling and stretching should be a pillar in your training. They are a huge part of mobility and ultimately injury prevention. Just lifting and not doing mobility doesn’t reduce your injury prevention alone. Strength needs stability and stability needs mobility to withstand heavy weights with good form safely.
