Yeah indeed. CCC takes a longer route out of Courmayeur to Tête au Tronches a bit higher up, before it comes down to Refuge Bertone from behind those rock-slide barriers. From there on the route is identical. Really, really enjoying the series you are making!! It might help me finally convince some friends to do the route fastpacking style. I wish you a great run this year, after all the challenges you & Sandy have overcome.

Seeing part of the section from Orsieres to Champex Lac brough me memories when I did OCC race in 2016. That first climb was fun as an appetizer for my race, nice to see the trail all empty for yourself. Amazing views coming in the next section from Champex to Trient.

Loving this series Sage. Just tried to do a similar effort on the Haute Route in Switzerland over 9 days. It was a tad more challenging than last year's effort at a 5 day soft utmb route. If anyone is interested in a version of soft utmb, refuge mottet was a highlight for me. For the Haute route I made it from Cabanne louvie to Cabanne Dix, two amazing locations
@Vo2maxProductions2 жыл бұрын
The Haute Route is a bucket list adventure for me to try to do one year!....you have to book the huts very far in advance, right?
@Damo_GingerMarmot2 жыл бұрын
@@Vo2maxProductions my buddy booked huts as he lives near Lausanne. If you fast pack it you are looking at 3 huts max. Cabanne Dix is off the beaten track and the best. In terms of Cabanne Louvie it's also slightly off beaten track for haute route but is very accessible for those doing one or two night trips or even a short hike up from the village of Fionnay. We skipped Cabanne Mont Fort and Cabanne Prafleuri as do don't work for fast hike and are bit too busy... We booked about 3 months in advance and cancelled Europaweg at short notice The Schwarzberg in Gruben is a lovely pension (with dorm as well as private room option) you would probably blast by Gruben and make it to Gasenried... Europaweg is popular so needs to be booked a few months in advance but you may not stay there pending on itinerary. I'm a few craft beers deep currently so might be better placed at another stage to advise further

Man, if you think the climb out of Courmayeur is tough, please do the CCC! Much longer and tougher. And by the way, you would rock the CCC. But those views between Bertone and Col Ferret... they're burnt in my brain for life! Nothing ever came close (admittedly, I did not run Hard rock or any race in the himalayas)

Brilliant - the scenery, the trail and the film making. Thanks for sharing this with us Sage. Do you have a target time for your UTMB this year?
@Vo2maxProductions2 жыл бұрын
1. Goal 1 is to Just Finish, 2. Goal two is to beat my time from 2017 (disaster of a race for me)...so sub 26 hours. Goal 3. is to go sub 24 hours though (and place top 20)...better yet would be like 22 hours though! Any of those is going to require a lot of pain and suffering and it's going to be hard...but I'll try!
