I can safely say that GLACO ZERO is literally a life-saver. I can't tell you how petrified I was when I was driving and was caught in a monsoon rain. Couldn't see out front much but at least had windscreen wipers. But the side mirrors were totally opaque because there was so much rainwater and I was so afraid of switching lanes because of other vehicles. Next day I went and bought Glaco Zero, tried it on my side mirrors and a week later, when again I was caught in the monsoon, I was left with my mouth agape because the side mirrors were COMPLETELY DRY! Not even a bead of water. I was so amazed and feel so safe when driving out in the rain ( esp at night). I really stand by this product. Thank you, GLACO!

Thanks for reviewing this Japanese brand, Pan! I see them a lot in Hong Kong and I've tried the side mirror spray and it does repel water very strongly but it turns into kinda a milky haze after a while and I have to clean it off and reapply. Also can't touch the surface of the mirror or else it causes smudges and loss of the layer. Will try their highway windshield protectant! Thanks again.

I use Glaco MAX and instructions clearly say (for all the products you tested) " Dry for 5-10 minutes and wipe up with a tightly wrung out damp towel" So not a dry towel but a damp one. I also use Glaco ZERO and have mixed impressions about it. It does repel water really good but it is overly sensitive so you can't wipe your mirrors because if you do you wipe the product off too. It does repel water but not road grime to. Oh yeah and Glaco MAX doesn't work well with Bosch wipers. They tend to leave a haze after every wipe, which only started to happen after I applied Glaco the first time.
@PanTheOrganizer2 жыл бұрын
Don't overthink the moment. I had a discussion with experts from Soft99 Europe and they recommended a dry towel. And that worked for me. But yes the instructions do recommend a slightly damp towel for wipe off.
@sanpol43992 жыл бұрын
Do you know better products with better results? The Glaco zero for example, is there any that can do better in the average situation we encounter everyday ?
@buncitrider98942 жыл бұрын
I also experience this. Soft99 suggest I polish the glass using their Soft99 Glass refresh polish compound to remove any oils/residues. Clean your Bosch wiper blades very thoroughly as well. Once spotless and clean, apply the Glaco again. So far this has worked for me.
@freeaudiobooks74692 жыл бұрын
That makes 0 sense. You wipe off the product but the wipers don't?
@sanpol43992 жыл бұрын
@@freeaudiobooks7469 It is just a way to say. Do not take it literally. 🙂 After Glaco dries, it creates a milky appearance, after that you use a wet towel that will remove this "fog" from the windshield, but note that despite you wiping the excess of the product , you won't remove the repellent attached to the windshield doing that. After some hours, it completely attaches to the windshield, and the wipers will not remove it easily, but of course, the wipers will slowly removing the repellent. The more you use the wipers, the less time it will last. If you use glaco wash in the car water spray, it will maintain the repellent working longer, because it also contains repellant. ps.: glaco zero is great, but very sensitive. If you touch the mirror, you remove the coat.

Awesome test Pan! Somewhat longer comment below but please read it. May be worth noting that your demo around 15 minutes in showing what it may be like in inclement weather is actually pretty astounding. The reason being is that's actually a lot more directed and intense than 90% of the rain anybody will ever come across while driving. I firmly believe that glass coating kept my family safe recently as we were driving home from a road trip and ended up having to pass through a snow storm on unfamiliar roads totalling about 150 total minutes of the drive. As I was driving I obviously noted the rain and snow but it didn't occur to me just how bad it was until about 30 minutes in when our Rav4 told me the radar cruise control wasn't available. At that point it occurred to me that the front of the vehicle that houses the actual radar unit didn't have the same coating on it and upon checking it at the gas station I was shocked to see it crusted in about 13mm of sleet. I looked at the windshield to find it shockingly bone dry apart from a few droplets that had come in under the canopy while I was putting gas in. I cleaned the radar housing off, dried it and then hit it with a little bit of the ceramic quick detailer I had in the car and had zero trouble the rest of the way. I honestly believe that with how effective these coatings are becoming, if someone was able to coat only one thing they should always always coat the glass first. As detailers it's something we can do that not only makes it easier to keep the vehicle clean, but we're actually helping to protect the customer and their passengers and actually keeping them safer. Since then I always always try to convince the client to get at least the glass coated if nothing else, and if they don't want to I do everything I can to at least make it somewhat hydrophobic in the short term by using products that have at least a small bit of protection built in (I actually really like Armor All's ceramic glass cleaner but it can be a pain to remove it you're not using a clean towel that has zero linting). Anyway sorry for the long comment but I believe in showing this technology you're going to end up protecting people at some point in the line. I think as detailers recommending a glass coating is something we should always be doing and that we start viewing it as a safety factor. Just like if we noticed any mechanical issues when detailing, it's something I now feel a personal duty to speak about it with the customer.

Thanks for the video Pan. I used Glaco in Mumbai , India this Monsoon and within a month of use I will say it is amazing product. Although initially there were hazes on the wiper blade and in light rain wipers used to jutter in return stroke as it cleans all the water in first swipe, so while returning stroke no water left on glass. I found one solution myself that if I clean my glass with normal household glass cleaner not containing any alcohol it gives some smoothness to glass and wiper blade which removes wiper juttering problem. In conditions like Mumbai where on highway fine road grime accumulates on windshield from other vehicles backsplash of water, in this scenario use a windshield cleaner to remove grime. Overall quite impressed with one and half month use. Hopefully it will last entire monsoon season . Thanks

Been using Glaco since it came out, what i like about it that its cheap, and lasts a decent amout of time, but its not easy to remove. Claying and compounding the glass before applying is absolutely crucial in my opinion! Pro tip: watch from the inside of the car against a light if you have any areas where there is still residue left. And check one day after applying again if possible.

Great review and information Pan. I currently have Invisible Glass ceramic on my car now. As you have reviewed it is superr easy to apply. The downside is durability and it probably only lasts 3-4 months. I am ready to apply a new coating so afterr your reviews and Awards video I chose to go with Glaco. The amazon link was 3-4 weeks to ship, so I went with your Canadian link with Carzilla and ordered enough products to get free shipping. Guess the new version of Fusso Coat is only available in the EU market. Trying the mirror coat zero as well. Thanks again for all the info.

Yeah I did an update on the Invisible Glass Coating and we saw 4-5 months so I was also disappointed with its long term durability. But Ultra Glaco in my conditions has always lasted 10-12 months. It's still my top recommended DIY glass coating for sure.

Hey Pan, thanks for the content as always, super informative. I got a question for you. I have applied car pro fly by forte on my A class. I have followed the tips and tricks that you have shared on some previous video including polishing the wind screen. However the wipers start to jump like crazy, thus I have replaced a new pair of wipers. No luck, the issue remains, the only time they won't jump are 1) The settings are at high (More momentum); 2) There's wiper fluid which provides some lubrications; 3) My wind screen is completely clean (No protection at all). Then I went back to Mercedes and they have replaced the wiper arms as well. I was wondering if the jumping is caused by the coating itself? Or is there any method could help with the issue, thank you very much!

Unfortunately, yes some glass coatings cause some wiper juddering effect, it's normal. There are some that have less of that effect, like those I spoke about in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3asnXuQZ6lnn8k

And good to know I don't need to spend money for new wipers, I was about to go get a pair at the Porsche dealership. Clearly it won't fix it. What's really intriguing is the juddering/skipping happens only when the windshield is wet...

Hey Pan, thanks for the awesome videos as always. Will the Glaco roll on compound help with the glass water stains? Trying to figure out if by buying those 2 products (Glaco compound and Glaco Ultra) I can treat and coat all my glass or if I need to buy additional products for proper prep.
@PanTheOrganizer Жыл бұрын
I would always recommend a proper glass prep before applying a long lasting glass coating. The same applies to paint. Always prep the paint properly before applying a paint coating, if you want it to bond better, last longer and perform its best. So I would clean the glass, even clay it, then use the Glaco Roll-On Compound to strip any oils or old sealants or other contaminants, and then rinse and dry the glass. Then you apply the glass coating. Now for the water stains, depending how bad they are, the Roll-On Compound does remove the majority of minerals and water spots, unless they have etched deeper into your glass if they were left unattended for long periods especially in the sun. If the roll-on doesn't remove them, you'll have to move to a more aggressive dedicated glass polish (like CarPro CeriGlass) with a rayon glass polishing pad and machine polish them off.

It doesn't matter in the real world, I have tried both methods, and the dry one was actually the one recommended to me by a Soft99 product specialist. The damp towel just helps with removal if people go beyond the curing time on the glass. But it makes zero difference in the overall product performance afterwards.

I'm interested to try the Roll-on Max. I've tried the Glaco Ultra and enjoyed the initial aggressive beading. However, since the instructions are all Japanese I was kind of going off how I'd prepped and applied Car-Pro glass coatings. I also tried an aerosol spray glass cleaner they have (I don't remember the name at the moment) to maintain the coating but again I don't know if I was using it correctly. I seemed the get smeary once grime and rain mixed. Basically I've always wished they would make versions with English text to help up use the products correctly.
@PanTheOrganizer2 жыл бұрын
Did you prep the glass correctly before you apply the glass coating? Often, especially on cars that aren't brand new, the windshield accumulates contamination and the only way to remove that is by using a clay bar and clay lubricant (like on the paint) to remove them. I would wash the car, then clay the glass, then rinse and dry. And then use a glass polishing compound (like the Glaco Compound Roll On) and rinse and dry. Then apply the coating. That should make your glass as smooth as possible and you should not get wiper judder. If the wipers still judder, then use a different glass sealant.

Pan, I had a bad experience with RAIN-X back in the 80's. It worked beautifully most of the time but in the spring, when my un-garaged vehicle sat outside, a coat of pollen would settle on the windshield. Most of the pollen could be brushed away dry by the wipers but when I activated the washer fluid the RAIN-X repelled the liquid, as it should, but turned the remaining pollen into a smeared mess.

I have a problem I need some advice on this matter. I bought soft 99 clock ultra and used it on my front windshield. The procedure here was simple wash the car and thoroughly clean the glass then wipe dry or air dry. Then I applied glass cleaner stripper and I removed any remaining watermarks stains and other road contaminants. Wash the glass again and wipe the dry according to the specifications. Applied galako ultra onto the glass thoroughly from end-to-end top to bottom in a hashtag pattern covering the entire glass allowed it to haze and then wipe the off. I love the product to cure for 24 to 48 hours. 6 days later it started to rain. I used my wipers and experienced judders squeaking. What might the remedy be for this problem!?
@PanTheOrganizer Жыл бұрын
Hard to say, as I wasn't there to observe your work. Did you clay the glass? Perhaps there was embedded contamination that needed to be removed. Glass is porous with hills and valleys when viewed through a microscope, so over time, contamination gets embedded in there just like on paint. Another source of wipper judder or skipping is sometimes worn wiper blades or dirty blades. It's recommended to get new wiper blades every year or at least every other year. And clean the blades to make sure they glide correctly. I have a tutorial on that here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3OYf6eqqa6ehqcsi=I6AxDcC3gktL-Ukm Also, when you apply the Ultra Glaco (and not Galako or "Clock Ultra" as you called it hehe, I'm sure you just did a few typos), you need to let it haze on the surface for 5-10 minutes before buffing off. You can use a damp towel with water (slightly damp) to help with removal if needed. And then let cure for 24 hours with no exposure to water or rain, and wait at least one week before washing the car again or cleaning the glass. Beyond that, you'd have to contact Soft99 and troubleshoot with them to see where you went wrong, or perhaps you got a bad batch of product. I never had wiper skipping issues with Ultra Glaco.
@KonstantinosStavropoulos-i1w Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advice, do you believe that there is a possibility that the angle of the blade may not be correct in as such would have to be adjusted in order to prevent this skipping from occurring?
