@@estevangonzales3142 I only have experience in IT/consulting. Even mid-seized IT consulting companies are good. Trick is to understand the commissions plan before you accept the offer. My base was $140k, so, it was important to understand the realistic potential for meeting my targets and incentive potential before accepting the offer.

@@retailinvestor8367 how much years of experience did it take for you to get that role and did you do anything during college to gain experience by the time you graduate?

@@jplaza7210 I have 9 total years of work experience since graduating college. I graduated in mechanical engineering and got a support engineer job in a software company. I then moved in to pre-sales and full on sales after. I've changed jobs twice. My salary would go like this, Year 1 - 60k Year 2 (switched to presales) - 68k Year 3 - 72k Year 4 (switched to sales)- 80k Year 5 - 90k Year 6 - 110k Year 7 (Switched companies) - 180k Year 8 - 280k Year 9 (Switched companies)- On track to do $320k+ You don't need to take this path though. I wish someone told me to get in to sales earlier.

I actually turned down a entry level role at salesforce because I thought the starting salary for the role was too low. Unfortunately there only was the base salary for the first role. I think I will get in contact with them again to jump in as an account executive instead of a BDR or SDR

@ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ538

@@cristianpadilla1756 I can only talk about the entry role position in Dublin. It was around 40k euros plus relocation bonus. But you have to consider the low Irish taxes so if you wanna compare it to other European countries it’d be maybe 55k euros? Still pretty low considering life in Dublin is expansive. But like I said the roles after that pay pretty well. My second issue was: I don’t see that much possibility for self improvement when you work in sales tbh. At one point is Just starts repeating. So for an entry level position I’d chose a position where you actually have a high learning curve.

The key was knowing someone inside the company and leveraging that relationship for introductions and insider information. My brother also recently just landed an SDR role at an IT services company with no degree. It’s a lot easier to do this today as there’s a shortage of talent. Take advantage of it. Once you’re in, it’s a lot easier to move around! For context, today I’m an AE in SaaS with a $240k OTE living in Minnesota. It’s totally possible, just have to put in the work. Good luck!

I used to work as a market data manager for an investment bank and now as a vendor relations manager for a consulting firm. We considered 80% of all account execs to be glorified used car salesmen who didn’t even bother to learn the ins and outs of the products they sold and were lazy.
