Looks great Nutn, digging the old school knife reviews.. Reminds of the earlier years of TNP

Thank you so much for your dedication to your family, country, and all TNPers. You are responsible for most of my gear choices and have taught me how to buy based on application. Your quality reviews are both entertaining and highly informative. I've been waiting on this one, but I think the flashback is the one for me. I'm definitely a fan of a knife that disappears in an EDC role.

Back around 1966 or so, I had a black handled knife which had a white cougar or puma on the black. Basically the same take on the handle i.e., folded metal. Loved that knife as a kid. I think it had a lock back too, but not really sure.

Love mine. I took the lock off though it kept coming on when I took it out of the pocket. And I've yet to accidentally actuate the lock bar in use. Fits perfectly in my soft armor trauma plate pocket I wear under my uniform as a back up knife.

Bought one off ebay. LOVE it. The xl is a bit big for most needs but gonna be a utility/camp knife/tactical use IF needed would work. Love it so far. One of the sharpest knives ive ever felt. And the protectionist stuff should be ignored. Doesnt effect my use for the blade, and i believe you can take off the lock.
@PTExp11 жыл бұрын
Interesting. I had a look at one at a store after hearing about how slim they are. The demo knife was super hard to deploy. I have a good number of folders but never came across one that stiff before. Guy even adjusted the pivot and it was still locking up. Maybe it was just a lemon. I think I'll have another look.

I got the H1 Pacific Salt and delica4 wave/emerson. they are great for EDC and I got them for $50 ea slightly used. the slim jim is about $41 for the XL and it has Aus 8 vs VG10 and H1. I would only get the slim jim if you need the form factor
@usernameuser557310 жыл бұрын
H1 is an extreme dive steel, unless your name is Aquaman, that's not an EDC knife.

Paul B I still think it would be too compromising for me. It's not being submerged in saltwater water, it's being splashed with moisture. To me, the compromise of edge retention, durability, and hardness is too much for a land-based EDC.

To me, the is sort of in the same philosophy of a tactical knife as the Al Mar Eagle Ultralight. It's not going to be the best defensive knife in the world, but it's small enough and thin enough to where you can easily carry this knife every day. Cool knife, great review. Thanks nutn!

@juliusgonzo752711 жыл бұрын
Actually, a great looking light weight knife. BUT, I guess the slider for the lock-back issue is a problem for me, (assuming it's your only blade), because you never know when this or any knife MAY need to be for emergency tactical purposes. If I'm rollin' multiple knives though, this looks perfect.

hey nutn, I know that this is not related to the vid. But can you do a review of a black rain ordnance ar-15? They make really cool ar-15s and I also hear that there near indestructible.
@Mwaves785711 жыл бұрын
It's not for me but the Slim Jim concept would be a good conceal knife and a good light backpack knife. I still love the SOG Trident as my EDC though. I've had the Trident 4 years now and learned about it from Nutn. But it's about time for a new knife I think.

Great competitive options brings up a question I have for you. Kershaw is brining Emerson designs at a value price to the market. Do you thing that high end knife designers are finally noticing the pint up demand for their designs at lower price points? You have addressed this issue in the project in the past, was wondering what your thoughts are on the subject now. Enjoyed the review as always, the TNP knife clinic started my sickness....

@CallmeDaBreeze197111 жыл бұрын
Digging the SlimJim! I like the blade shape, and it's thin size and light weight would make this a very comfortable to carry blade for me. I like lock-backs and could live with the slide lock. Sold. BTW, I don't care for Spyderco's. I just don't like the looks of them.
@thedefinitive629611 жыл бұрын
Wow you really went to work on the blade reviews! I appreciate it! The knife show is what brought me to TNP in the first place. I agree with you on the Slim Jims. I'm really impressed with the thinness and if you just want a completely invisible knife, it's hard to beat. For me, I'm not sure I'd buy one. There are plenty of other blades I'd rather have for the money. Also, I'm not sure about the whole slide lock thing. I think it'd be ok as you just apply pressure in front of the pivot instead. To be honest, main the thing keeping me from buying are the looks lol. Just not feelin' this one. But I do think it's a very impressive blade and it's cool for what it does.
@jeracci11 жыл бұрын
hey nutn I am looking for a replacement to my skyline btw loved that knife. My problem is I work with a powder that can be a health hazard. I need a handle that does not attract grit or small particles. Would you say this would be the best steel handled pocket knife available for its EDC use and weight.
@AnthonieMusic11 жыл бұрын
Hi nut'n, I really need some advice. I need a new EDC knife but only have about $40. (South African economy blows) I'm definitely leaning towards assisted opening, and it has to be quite concealable. I really don't like that lock system on the SlimJim but so far its it. Thanks if you can help. Love your vids.

Nutn. You really need to check out the cold steel war craft tanto knifes they have a 7 inch and a 12 inch one that just came out. I know you're friends with the cool dudes at cold steel. Maybe they can send you one of each for testing. The really awesome thing about them is there made from 3V steel. With there zero° quenching. I would love to see how they preform before I buy one. You were so impressed with the 3V steel in the servive knifes that you reviewed that you put your name on a few. By the way your limited tanatious I think it was. Well one was sold on ebay for somewhere around 160 bucks. Anyways keep the awesome reviews coming and I'll keep watching. Thanks

I bought one of these when they were first available. I'm fairly good at working the thumb stud on most knives to open them one handed. This one was impossible for me. Also, if you try to open the knife manually by grabbing the blade….i would say it springs out toward your hand so fast it's scary. I sent it back to the seller for a refund. Sorry Nuttin!
