Not quite. You almost get two sponson sets. But a pair will be missing the plate that connects the front of the sponson to the side of the tank. Like... The armpit of the weapon mount I guess. It's a quick fix with some plasticard though.

I'm going to pick up a Dracosan to make an ork battlewagon. The resin version was roughly 23 cm long and 8cm wide making it a great base for a battlewagon with deffrolla and I like the silhouette of the its obviously of mini imperial in origin with big tracks its perfect.

take any GW plastic infantry kit that is basically human, done. give them 30k/40k guns. there are your imperial army guys. @@comrade_commissar3794 but guard look to have existed in gear. uniforms and such or certain 30k art is wrong. as is the armour type as flak has existed since year 1. maybe the art and the lore is wrong, maybe I am looking at art not legit and the lore from actual books is wrong. who knows.

I absolutely love these models, some of my favorites from recent times. I just can't commit to a new game and a new army. When I was a teen, we bought games all the time that we never ended up following through with. And GW are happy to help you do that. I'm just trying to be better as an adult!

I know this is subjective but $210 for me really is my limit on most box sets. That’s not to say I wouldn’t go higher if it’s a substantial deal like Leviathan or the Horus Heresy big box. But these release boxes they come out with now are really at my own personal limit for some reason. Knowing that I’d need 3 of these boxes to even start a tiny Solar Auxilia army in HH is also a big downer. That said I do like the models and most of them will pull double duty in HH and 40K. So it’s not like there isn’t value.

Yep, I’m having a really hard time justifying a lot of the new stuff that comes out. I didn’t pick up the scouts which I could field in my existing army; and I don’t know if I’ll pick up much else aside from one offs as I adjust my list and find I cannot backfill from existing collection for it. I really enjoy the game, but I’m feeling a bit choked now. Maybe I’ll change my tune later on if there’s something I’m super hyped for but I can be certain I have no excitement for starting a new 40k army

Every kit is an Ork kit if you build it wrong enough. That’s what makes building Orks so much fun. I currently have a Warboss made from a standard Ork boy, some bits from a GSC kit, and a Lastalon from a Space Marine Gladiator bashed together with a Big Shoota for his kombi-weapon, and that’s pretty mild for ork kitbashing. I’m also planning a Battlwagon build using one of the Drukhari boats, a cheap A-10 Warthog model, and some tires made from modeling clay.

Planning an army around these for 40k and here’s what I’m using each as: Infantry - scions Sentinel - armored sentinel or could work as Karamazov if you run melta and missiles maybe stick on a sword Russ - russ but you could have the sponsons be the pintle mounted flamer and such and the coaxial gun on the turret Dracosan - a bit small but as a crassus transport as it has the same durability profile as a malcador

It's somewhat unfortunate timing that just as we have an edition of 40k where things like sponsons, Heavy Weapon Teams and squad special weapons are 'free', along comes a box of potentially great alternative models which don't have any of those things. Unless you have a pretty well-stocked bits box or go the 3D printing route, adding the extra weapons to the infantry to not shoot yourself in the foot when you field them is going to be quite pricey. Admittedly, if they were my Guard, they'd miss their feet anyway.

To be fair, they're considered the elite of the Imperial Army. There were plenty of lesser regiments in the Imperial Army that are akin to the Imperial Guard, in terms of tactics and equipment

The Imperial Guard is literally as many as a million different sets of uniforms, weapons, and gear. The Guard Regiments are raised locally and armed locally, whereas the Solar Axuillia are raised from the heart of the Imperium and armed to the highest level a non-Astartes could be. If anything, their modern equivalent, Tempestus Scions, are actually better, since their Hotshot lasguns are more powerful than Lasrifles, and they have better access to special weapons and air power, not to mention the universal Grav-chutes.

Using solar auxilia as bodyguards for solar leontus sounds interesting, just stick a 10 man group with a command squad to make the classic supreme command blob. I wish they looked more like the resin solar auxilia though.

Im sure that compared to the cost of an Auxilia army in 1.0, when everything was resin, this is a good deal. But at $210, when you'd need a minimum of 2 to play a 1000+ point game, this is a bit of a joke imo. Especially if you still have to buy a rule book, army book, and any paints/supplies. You can get one box to 1000 points if you really really stretch the equipment (depending on how the heavy sentinel ends up being point-wise) but who's going to spend the poinys to do that when those 20 riflemen get chewed through like paper by heavy bolters, which are everywhere on HH2.0? This feels more like its aimed at players with existing armies, to entice them to add an allied detachment, rather than for a player hoping to start a fresh army. Maybe that's just me tho

The Dracosan is actually based on the Malcador frame, which is why it is bigger than the russ.

What kills it for me is that the tanks are two different sizes. Which im quessing means the basilisks will be on the larger vehicle to fit the detailed interior. That means it would be a really big basilisk for 40k. Too big for my tastes. Plus, I'd mangle them trying to remove the extra filagree along the tracks as I put the armor upgrade on all of my tanks.

Question is, will the 3rd party retailers get any / enough stock? And will they get them on time? Rumours flying around at the moment that GW are deliberately restricting supply to them and not guaranteeing they'll arrive in time for customers to get them on launch day. If you want them promptly, you need to jump thru GW hoops and pay GW prices. Don't know how true these rumours are, but the fact that I've heard them from a few different sources - combined with the Deathwing Assault allocation for 3rd party / LGS - shows how little many think of GW.

I like seeing the more old style pre-Guard human troops, and it is neat to see them with at least some superior kit, since the Heresy military could have better gear than current AMil forces. The void armor looks fine, but I'm not sold on the color scheme, and I DEFINITELY don't like their helmets. Painting faces can be a chore, but I just don't like an army of faceless guys. On the other hand, I agree that they could be REALLY good for Cultists. My personal gripe with GSC is their ugly appearance. These things were supposed to be infiltrating Humanity; a group already revered for noticing mutation, and killing the affected, and while I get that the model line should look distinct, and their battles are often end times, when EVERY Cultist crawls our of the shadows, I just wish more of them looked less like ridgy, purple, multi-armed monsters, and more like the humans they were impersonating. With those dumb helmets, though, that can hide their cosmetic differences, and blend well with their industrial theme.

And in the end its just my headcanon for my army. Some special engineers that got special armor because they fought in an extremly hazardeus battlezone and after that could keep it. They will be using scions rules. Probably. In the end they are cheaper and more available than the original engineer models snd the other vehicles have a perfect dkok style.
