6:22 I believe you cannot actually use master tactician to change the order of the unit the Legate commander is in. See the wording: A Detachment that contains one or more models with this special rule may issue commands when it is activated. Any different friendly Detachment that has yet to be activated this round, and is within 6" of an activated model with this special rule, may discard their Order token and replace it with a different Order they are eligible to be issued.

For Malcador's I like the all lascannon build for the extra shot when overwatching flyers

Thanks for the upload fellah. I agree with a lot of what you say. I agree russes are the best point for point tank and i too run my commander in malcador builds (lascannon boats ftw). Couple of points i disagree on. I think lightning is the premier interceptor. It has 2x hellstrike/skystrike options plus lascannons. Min range is now 22", allowing you to snipe well before achieving air superiority, the cannons on the thunderbolt are too short range. Overwatch trumps interceptor; it occurs during the move where interceptor occurs at end of move. In a plane on plane duel, you want you plane down first unless you can outrange your oppenent (say 2x skystrike missiles for 4x rerollable shots vs fliers at 30") or expect to be able to tank their overwatch/them not to overwatch

Cheers mate, glad im not missing the mark by far Definitely more interplay in the flyer game, its so massive, my tactic up until now has been to almost flank with them but as you say AA is first so maybe a more central/covered by my own AA approach would be better!

I think its a coin flip between the lighting and the Tbolt. The Tbolt might have slightly more guns- but lighting gets double the external racks more movement and range. So a flight of 3 lightings kill at least one possible two marine fighters on intercept, and nuke pretty much any other flyer unit in one go. Head to head, the lightings will out range the Tbolts close in fire, and unless going last, only an idiot would move within 16 inches... negating 2/3 of the tbolts fire power.... the lightings firepower matches range with the marines.... so has more effective firepower. Win the airwar, then go tank hunting. point for point, the lighting kills twice the air then the tbolt. The skystrikes are 2/3 as good as the hellstrikes against armor, and twice as good against air. Primary job is air superiorty, secondary is ground support. Maybe 1/2-2/3 AS role and 1/3-1/2 air to ground?

yeah this is what I think was missed in the review too. The lightnings are worse bare, but the 2 slots allow them to really bring the pain missile wise, or if your fields have a lot of cover absolutely destroy units hiding within it. Those are 2 roles the thunderbolt can't fill as easily, especially not without exposing itself to danger. The real advantage the thunderbolt has over the lightning is the ability to fly in close to other fighters as a last activation and dump rounds in using interceptor. Meanwhile the lightning will either stay back the whole game launching missiles from its wing racks or pull a few aggressive bombing runs. Alternatively however the missile barge role can be EVEN BETTER filled by a marauder destroyer. Who will also punish any interceptor trying to take it out with it's nose guns.

Don’t know really: I think it’s massively been hampered atm by the push back to being released near ToW tbh, lots of people who would have been players round here have decided to go to that first and backtrack to LI far enough in the future that stock simply isn’t an issue

Marines are actually much better at WINNING games than Solar Auxilia with the stuff actually released right now. Their infantry is, no question, superior, and has transports. So they get on objectives first, start outscoring, and by the time the SA force clears them out (Which SA is just better at killing), it's too late.
