Nothing fake about James. When I encountered him at the Como St location with a problem with a refurbished Growatt inverter he went to my car and got it himself. Just needed the settings back to factory setting. Later wanted some repair on other inverters and they just gave me 100% store credit so bought a 6000XP. Haven’t installed it yet but am impressed with the reviews from various DIYers who have. Signature Solar is the leader in recognizing what we need and getting it to market.

@@Hansen710 Growatt version is missing breakers, PV disconnect, battery disconnect, and customer service. When I was choosing for my RV, those factors weighed heavily. When researching the Growatt I found dozens of people posting issues that were not resolved by Growatt and they had to switch out to another brand. The documentation that comes with the EG4 is amazing. The build quality of the 6000XP is great. I am installing it in 2 weeks when some friends come to town to help me, but I unboxed it already and have been reading documentation. I've messed with some growatt products in the past, and unless something major changed, the EG4 stuff is leaps and bounds better in terms of documentation, build quality, and included features.

Thank you Joe, been waiting on more love for EG4 for a while and I mentioned it a couple of weeks ago if you remember. You're the first KZbinr with detailed info about the new Gridboss and Flexboss 21. One youtuber briefly went over it last week with a quick overview. Who would have thought it would be you coming out with all the details? Thanks for listening to your viewers. Now with the Gridboss and the Flexboss coming out. I'm going to forgo the original 2-EG4 18KPV Hybrid inverters and get the new stuff. Going to be cheaper to get it installed and more flexible features. I will hang the electric vehicle charger right off one of those smart ports instead of hanging it off of a sub panel. One thing that wasn't mentioned, the EG4 Hybrid Inverters and all of their current batteries are now certified EMP Hardened as of a couple of weeks ago. Not sure about the off-grid inverters. That includes all the ones that are currently selling so you don't have to buy new ones for that certification.

Welcome to the DIY market. Seen a few of your videos (all great coverage), but I do hope this helps educate more people in solar and what the utter scam is that most installer companies are with their insanely overinflated prices. Juts a little knowledge and time, home owners can build out systems at a fraction of the cost a traditional installer can. Maybe all they do is get help to do the install but purchase the equipment directly from Signature or other retailer.
@johnmonroe3147
@johnmonroe3147 Ай бұрын
Interesting set of assumptions in that statement. Where exactly are you seeing the solar installation companies ripping people off? If you want to get a permitted installation (which solar installers have to do) I'm seeing just about zero inflation in their costs. Lots of idiots look at panel, inverter, battery prices and think to themselves "Those thieves are ripping people off!!!" And meanwhile they neglect the permit package costs, solar racking, combiner box, disconnect switch, wiring, etc. If you want to DIY, that's awesome, but you're only really saving the cost of your own labor. Compare the number of hours you're going to spend on the install and what a certified electrician costs per hour and you're not saving anything.

I think that grid ties in the next few years will become less and less important. With the improvements in Battery storage, more and more people will be cutting the strings to the grid. I cut years ago, because of the problems with obtaining the grid for my rural home. It was definitely more expensive then. Now, it is closer and closer to being a wash and soon it will make more sense for people currently on the grid, to cut such ties. EG4 is a very competitive solution now, and it will only get better.

Wow, the Gridboss looks amazing....almost like the next logical progression step for this. For a grid tie hybrid whole house system the options seem interesting with the Gridboss... You could do a single 12kpv and then another when funds allow. You could have a Flexboss or a 18kpv. I am guessing you can't parallel multiple 6000xp in this scenario?

Excellent video. Excellent channel. A question (dumb I’m sure): A series string feeding directly into the mini split, what would the rapid shutdown system requirements be? What are the options? Panel mounted? Capable of operating without AC power? As a hobby level RV guy, if you or someone else had an introduction/comparison of panel level protection systems, and maybe an idea of where codes will go in the future…

Looks like I have some homework as I am a bit confused. They started with the EG4 Flexboss 21 & GridBoss + storage then ends with the new 1200 XP + storage. Which one am I supposed to use if I want to replace what I have now (solar and inverter) and expand to additional panels and storage in Ca. Especially if I want to do partial DIY and hire out electrical. They are right - the EG4 is very popular from what I've read so far.

[1] If you need to mount outdoors, go 18kPV/Flexboss/Gridboss. If you want to mount indoors, go 12000XP. [2] If you want to get a contract with PG&E and sell back to the grid, go with 18kPV/Flexboss/Gridboss. If you don't want to deal with the power company, go with 12000XP. [3] Either route can equally be done partial DIY. [4] Either route can equally use your existing solar panels directly as a string inverter -or- do "AC coupling" if your current panels use microinverters. [5] Either route provides a path for additional panels and storage. However, the new Flexboss/Gridboss approach provides the most flexibility

Great job EG4. I’ve talked to 3 installers and they cannot figure out how to configure my whole house system. However they are all asking well over $100k. My issue is I have a meter with box 50 feet from my house and 150 feet from my barn. The power is split at the meter into a 200 amp panel into the house and a separate 200 amp panel to the barn. I still don’t exactly know what to install but this system seems to be a solution. Could someone give me knowledge if this is the best solution for me. I want to run a 24 KWA solar system with backup battery power for atleast a 24 hour period. I’m going to build onto house and current 200 amp panel is full. The addition would be on the far side of the house approximately 150 feet from the meter box. Thanks

"Attaching" the battery takes about 5 minutes. "Installing" the Power Pro takes hours. If securing it to the wall mount, it's comparable to craning a V8 engine into a car. Very heavy and delicate. Takes two people, and dropping it is not an option. I have three of them and it took an engine hoist to lift and move. And the wall mount they give you has to be aligned within about 1/8 of an inch.
@darrenorange2982
@darrenorange2982 Ай бұрын
@@JamesFriedeck I would never wall mount it that would be a waste of effort for the battery. You can if you want to but its largely pointless to mount it on to the wall, you could just secure it to the wall which is what I would do. That said a simple dolly and straps allows you to move the batteries around very easily.

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times: If you want to sell solar to a Democrat, talk about saving the planet and reducing the carbon footprint. That's what most of them believe in. If you want to sell solar to a Republican, talk about energy independence and preparedness. That's what most of them believe in. Up until recently, the solar industry was a one trick pony. It depends on how many inverters you buy. 18kPV or Flexboss: at least 50 amps. 12000XP: at least 50 amps. 6000XP: 25 amps. (all of these should likely be at 80% for continuous usage over a couple hours)

Damn, I literally just ordered the Eg4 12k... Now I'm wondering if I should stop it before it ships and wait for the 12000xp `:\

This changes my plans. Not much. But the 18k is gone and the grid boss is in. The bypass alone will save me 1700

I just bought the EG4 18K, 3 EG4 Outdoor Batteries, and 20 540-650 Canadian Solar Panels for $19K out the door. Wish I could have waited for this, I have my install on Monday, but I am completely off grid and my current 25 year old battery died a month ago. Been running on a generator for a month now. Been a hard time for the wife but if it was up to me I would have waited for this. Can I pair the 18K with this system?

If EG4 is so great and cost competative why are all the solar sales guys pitching me power wall 3 or Enphase. Ive talked to 5 companies and I get the same product recommendation. Its almost like Tesla and Enphase are paying them.

Because the markup is higher on those, along with the margins.

cost competative... lol... good one Growatt SPF 6000ES PLUS off-grid inverter does the same for half the price and without american special parts in the rest of the world i need parts that cost the same as the inverter to install a eg4 inverter (same with enphase) and on top of that they cost double price installers want touch it where i live, so that part is not cheap either

Why? Commi$$ion. EG4 is thousands less than the 'brand' names every fly-by-night solar installer wants to sell you. Plus the other systems are proprietary - once you're in, you're in for life. EG4 is to Android as Tesla is to Apple - one is open/inexpensive/flexible, one is closed/expensive/limiting.

When will EG4 come out with a 'meter collar'? I would much rather go with EG4 than Tesla but without the meter collar it aint happening.

Very few electronics are made in America anymore. For over 40 years, U.S. companies have outsourced manufacturing, chasing profits and moving expertise overseas. While the Biden administration is attempting to reverse this trend with the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and CHIPS Act of 2022, it will still take years, if not decades, to see these products made in America again.

@@jamesshowalter6362 I've gone off-grid with 2 6000XPs and 3 PowerPro batteries. Very satisfied with the products and support with a few exceptions. What is the factory going to produce? How can we support your "Made here" efforts?
