Really enjoyed listening to this. I loved the bit where he showed his rods set up and his back rests was 3 sticks. I really wish we fished in a less tackle tart era. We all take it to seriously now with the tackle we think we need. This man caught Mary on the most basic set up sleeping under the stars with no camo sleeping bag in sight.

What a brilliant film, so glad the old guard of anglers are all telling their stories, across many channels, it’s great hearing them all talk in depth about “ way back when “ I’ve read many of the books out already,, but never tire of hearing the accounts first hand. 💯🙏☮️

Bottom line....I enjoyed that!!!..... Well done Dave Lane! You tell a good story made me laugh im a pleasure angler, love fishing and i love the fact thats theres people out there that love it as much as i do, the dedication and passion thats shown by some carp anglers is unreal...... Angling is very special 😊

I've watched all the stories on here regarding wrasbury during lockdown but every time u talk about this lake it never fails impress me ,the fish way back that u caught at that time anglers could only dream of,49 lb back then was off the scale and the way u fished (no rules etc)again was exciting and only 20 fish! Most anglers wouldn't survive a venue like that nowadays lol...👌👍

Kevin maddox, lee jackson, dave lane all heros of fishing in my opinion. You all brought carp fishing to the masses and taught us things about watercraft we would never have thought about. It's not the rigs or the bait. If they ain't there you can't catch em. Good on ya laney

Those drone shots are breathtaking. I wonder if there are still places waiting to be discovered that will give some lucky angler a chance to experience that same wildness and mystery. I doubt it to be honest. Lakes have become much more managed and controlled than even a few decades ago. I'll keep scouring google earth for those patches of blue, you never know. ⭕

Your right, wild unspoilt lakes with mystery are very few and far between nowadays, the rivers are now the place if you want solitude and mystery .

Dave, listened to your COVID book reading sessions, great to hear the stories again from the actual swims that made the history and why we love carp fishing. Never fished there, I was fishing Kent, Darenth Valley complex’s. Very much the same history. Thanks Solar for the production.

I recall reading all this in Carp Talk and Carpworld as it happened, then got first edition of the book. The great pre internet days. Still, carp gossip moved as fast as electric back then. Sir Pete's, with Skidmore, Cumpstone, Ball and others. What fascinated me was the big leather and the 'odd uns'

i would love to know what originals are left in both pits now, including the stockies that rmc put in towards the end, and the last captures ? is king fungus still around ? heard a few bits from one or two i know fishing there on the last days, but never heard about any of the A team fish, or the odd'uns being found dead ? or even seen in the water, great film though dave, i really enjoy vids like this,

I think Chris Ball might have caught the leather in the mid eighties. If I remember right he caught 3 fish off the top one afternoon, cluster, Mallins and a leather all around mid twenties. Something like that anyway!

It's when I began carp fishing. Only a teenager at the time but it was simple, uncomplicated. I grew up fishing Linear Fisheries before anyone really knew about it. Fond memories.

@@johnnybegood9560 I loved it back then. Swims were all natural grassy spots, fishing uncomplicated, and really not very busy / known of. I don't really have the time to fish / carp fish much now but feel lucky to have had my time in that era 😊
@johnnybegood9560 Жыл бұрын
@@paulgeddert6125 yes I agree with you Paul, when I went there myself to st John's it was still like that - no labelled swims just grass 😃 Im still as keen today, there are plenty of lakes like that mainly on quiet local club tickets, I stick to them.. I don't see anyone and it's just angler vs fish albeit they are not huge but I love it that way, the original spirit of carping can still be found 😃
