I was at the Colonel's Review. This guardsman was right at the front of the band facing the crowd so it was quite noticeable when he fainted. He got a roaring round of applause when he recovered so well. About another half a dozen had fainted before this happened, either being stretchered off or helped to walk off.

I don't understand why they can't modify their clothes for different weather conditions? Surely, there must be a design that is dignified but also practical. It doesn't need to be radically different, perhaps using other fabrics can make it more tolerable during heat. Respecting "tradition" doesn't mean accepting impracticality when it can easily be solved.

@@Darklord666123 yeah, I have. I was raised in humid areas. 5 years ago at 10th grade I was admitted into military school where weather was dry. Not a single time in my whole academic year I remember I fainted during 20 minute ground March wearing heavy outfit uniforms. It depends on how resilient you are to the environment. I understand your point @callum9999 but please know that these soldiers care a great deal about their comrades, they are like brothers and sisters to one another. It is simply that they must follow protocol. The medical team is the best team to assist him in that moment, and they get to him in seconds, to do everything that is needed to ensure he is safe. The others are not being cold or uncaring; they are doing their part of the jobs they have been enlisted to do. I am sure they were worried about this gentleman and checked up on him immediately afterwards.

Been at parades and ceremonies where stuff like this happens. A poor girl in the color guard and a saxophonist dropped out in a military ceremony in Boston I was in, heat is no joke.

Hoping for more seasonal uniforms. Praise for discipline, low marks for resilient tradition.

Guess they weren't up to the job , such a shame that colour parade will have to wait ...a valuable service they're performing there ..

Wearing the skin of a bear on your head when it's 30 degrees is possibly not the most sensible thing to do...
