The ssr40dd shown at 1:46 is a CMOS type fo DC control. Triac ssr type has a DA suffix instead of DD.

Right it's a DC relay. You don't use SCRs or Triacs for DC.

Thanks Lewis, So on the input of an SSR that reads 3-32vdc input, am I correct in assuming, that with a typical SSR, you do NOT have to use an input resistor...just applu 3v to 32 VDC directly with NO input resistor? (I will be using 12v to 24vDC to drive the input) I HAVE ALWAYS WONDERED ABOUT THIS!!!

how did you maintain 1.85V across the collector and excess current is not entring to the photo diode rather than going to the emmiter
