Well done. I work a lot with wood, modeling trusses and the like. I believe SolidWorks is always trying to align the grain of the wood with the "front" plane. Therefore I believe if you want the grain to go along the length of an item either make the sketch on the front plane or extrude along the right plane. But I am still trying to figure it all out. Thank you for sharing your modeling, much enjoyed.
