great review, lots of production info and player feedback. I found the weather impact description very useful. I practice a lot at night, cooler temps. However my competitive match’s are played during the day time hours and or high temps. Good to know in advance how to anticipate the playing characteristics of a string and how it can affect my playing on the court.

I wanted your suggestion on the best Solinco poly string set up for someone who puts a premium on pocketing and feel and still wants good spin and control. I am currently playing exclusively doubles with a Babolat Pure Aero - so a set-up that compliments that racquet string pattern and stiffness would be ideal. I am not opposed to using thinner gauge polys or poly hybrids to get the desired playability. I tend to like to play at lower tensions to open up the sweetspot and increase ball feel. I am currently bouncing back and forth between a full bed of Tour Bite Soft 18; Hyper-G 19; and Hyper-G soft 17 - all strung at 40 lbs. Is there another string or hybrid you think I should try? What would you personally recommend?

Low tension = Low control no longer applies to the new stiff polys. Since I have been stringing my own racquets I'm now at 30 lbs in my Clash 100 Pro with Hyper G in one and RPM Rough in the other. My shot accuracy is much better at low tension. Regular Hyper G still seems metallic at 30 lbs so I will never use it again. Hyper G Soft sounds like a good idea. I also love the RPM Rough at 30 lbs. It's my best set up now. I have Lux Smart in my Pure Aero at 30 lbs. It also feels great. Former college player.

@ptt39754 жыл бұрын
@@austinkim7124 Glad to hear! Can't argue with success! I haven't done 40 lbs. I tried 47 lbs. and it was not any better than my old 52 lbs. If you can find a way to string your own racquets it will make it easier and more fun to try out your favorite string at different tensions. You are probably like me in that we want the set up that makes us feel like we can smack the crap out of the ball! Even If you can't string your own, I would try minimum of 5 lb increments. Update: clash 100 tour with tour bite diamond rough at 40lbs and Clash 100 tour with Confidential at 40 lbs. Love them both. I could not hit short target whip shots at 30lbs but baseline accuracy was good. now I can do both Confidential is ripping the felt off the ball!

I think that when a poly softens after one hour or less is just the break in period (basically : the time for a non pre-stretched poly to settle in), not the tension maintenance... So to review it, you should have play more than you did dude. Not a serious review here.

Tour Bite Soft 17 is a good one too. It is thinner 1.2 mm compared to Hyper G Soft 16L which is 1.25. It is also a tad stiffer 186 lb/in compared to172 lb/in. Bite has a bit more spin potential. Both have tension loss of 29%.

Harry question to your coaches and you please. I have 4 priorties in this order for a new string. 1) GOOD pocketing and feel, 2) GOOD spin grip & stay put strings without* stringalings 3) GOOD power with* durability 4) It's going in a Yonex 105 racquet as my gold mine turns profitable so hybrid synthetic might be option say Hyper G Soft crosses with Fed's Wilson Synthetic Gut as an example what I'm musing could be good for all the above. Hey I'm hoping to get to Indian Wells this spring of course you'll be there to introduce me to Roger right? 👑

What about as part of a hybrid? I don't like full poly beds due to arm pain but really like them in Hybrids. Current hybrid on a PS Gen3 16x19 is RPMBlast and NXT Comfort. Have always liked Solinco strings. Thanks

Try this setup...it's what I use. Solinco Hyper-G Soft 17 in the Mains at 51 pounds and Dunlop S-Gut 17 (blue) in the crosses at 56 pounds. I'm a senior player...and this combination allows me to hit out and still keep the ball in the court and it's very responsive during volleying. Why did I choose Dunlop's S-Gut as crosses? I had tried Dunlop's S-Gut in the mains and crosses for a while and while I liked the feel, but they were too powerful and moved a lot causing broken strings from sliding them back into place, so I thought they might be a good choice for a softer hybrid setup...and it worked out. I added Hyper-G and crossed with Dunlop's S-Gut stings and surprisingly it has worked out rather well. My string bed is now stable...no movement. My new hybrid setup has a very nice feel, not to mention that it looks nice in your racquet. BTW...I'm using Babolat's 2015 Aero Pro 100 inch frame. So, string according to your racquet and playing style. If you're a higher level more energetic player...you may want string tighter or use something other than Dunlop S-Gut in the crosses. And try adjusting the string tension until it suits your style and arm comfort. I have no arm issues with this setup. (I once had to take off a year with a bad case of tennis elbow. Consequently, I've tried a lot of different strings and setups...and I find the above one of my favorites...if not my favorite. It's really allowed me to pickup my game and take it to the next level.) Hope this helps.

Would you recommend this to an 11 year old? He currently uses the Gamma OCHO. And if you think he should try it, what tension do you recommend? We usually do 50lbs with the OCHO. We also just tried the Babolat Natural gut (Blue). It lasted maybe about a week and the tension was at 50.

I LOVE my Gamma Electric X-stringer. (Blue one same as Frisco Tennis). Very solid, well built. about $1400. No problems or issues. If that's too pricey, start with a Gamma that you can add the electric part latter. Stringing my own has helped my game more than anything! Lots of people are playing with the racquet they were handed and have no idea what different tensions would do. Getting the right tension is more important than the string, IMO.

What did you string it at? I used RPM Blast. Sometimes a hybrid with Luxilon ALU Power and Gamma Professional. I find Hyper G to be easy on the arm for a poly. I remember a dozen years ago getting a reel of a poly at a low price and put it on several student's racquets. A few days later I cut them all off and restrung them. I gave the reel to a stranger who actually loved that string. After that I always hit with a string before putting it on someone else's racquet.
