I used to love this string with my pure strike 18-20. It was my go to. After switching to PS97 I simply cannot play with it. II cannot control it. It became extremely lively and the playability drops after the 1st hour. It notches quickly as well. So I think this one definitely is for more closed string patterns and for a rather flat hitter. Also I didn't like continental with the pure strike but it may be the complete opposite in the pro staff since I think pro staff prefers stiffer control oriented strings. That will be my new experiment.

Love your channel and content, thanks for doing what you do. My favorite new channel these past few months. I have a very similar game to yours, Pro Staff player since the 6.0, just got the new v13, LOVE THEM, played all the Fed 6 one's, having trouble getting into poly, more about the feeling than any arm issues as I've been a Syn Gut player forever. I have some Nat gut I'll be trying out soon, just curious if you could offer some advice for trying poly out in a set up that will feel good for an ex college player seeking soft plush comfort with modern snap back of poly in at least the crosses, with perhaps a nat/syn gut in the mains, or maybe multifil in mains. Thanks, keep the great content coming. I love some of the amazing courts you've been able to hit on and share with us! Inspiring hitting too, your game has come a long way in a couple of years, keep going!

Hey Mr. Nerd. Would you consider doing a string review of Dunlop Black Widow? I finally tried it and it seems to create a lot of spin with good feel. That being said, I'm not an expert on strings. Would love your opinion. Thanks!

Hi Jonas. I love your reviews. They’re great. I recently purchased the head extreme tour and as per your recommendation I tried tourbite soft 17. It felt too stiff so I went back to my fav string luxillon ace 18 gauge. The feel is great and I’ve never had an arm issue with them but the crisper feel and tension doesn’t last long. They don’t break but it gets a little trampoline like with less bite. I watched your review on the solinco confidential 16L. I tried them at 55lbs. Amazing string, feel was ok. Control was amazing. They didn’t feel super stiff when hitting. But lately my arm has been hurting with possible tennis elbow for my first tine ever. I’m thinking too stiff string at too high tension. I need a control string as I hit hard but I would love to know what you recommend for me in this racquet. String type, Gauge and pressure. Much appreciated.

Isospeed Black Fire S 1,25 , Yonex Poly Tour Pro 1,25 , Signum Pro X-Perience 1,24. All@50-52lbs. All are very Arm-Friendly Control-Strings IMO. Go generally Lower with the Tension or Hybrid with a Syngut or Multi in the Crosses like Head Velocity MLT 1,30. If you break those Polys in less than 4 hours try a thicker gauge and go lower in tension like around 48lbs. If you cannot break 1,25mm in 10-12 hours, try a lower Gauge at the same tension. The lower the better for your arm.

Do you also tried/know Signum Pro X-Perience? In my opinion very similar to regular Hyper-G and even Hyper-G soft. My personal favourite of the 3 (it's a bit cheaper). For my playing Style, X-Perience provides the same control as regular Hyper-G, but it is just a bit softer, I personally like the feeling of the SPXP more. During this year, it got very popular over here in Germany. great review, like always.
@kilmoretimmyg4 жыл бұрын
Pro X-perience is a great alternative to Hyper-G. Like you mentioned, slightly softer, bit more powerful, but a little less controlled. If you're in Germany, you could also check out Oehms Sonic Speed. Half the price, but a great string. Not as bright in colour and maybe a little stiffer , but excellent value.

I recently re-discovered Volkl's Cyclone Tour as a "soft" poly that has actually become my goto string. Any comparison to Hyper G-soft?
@DJDJ-qi6wr4 жыл бұрын
This one will lose tension way quicker, you will get more pocketing, spin and touch with cyclone tour. Use the 16g, that is the best version even if you like thinner, just use the 16g way better in every way
@ScottDreyfus2 жыл бұрын
Cyclone tour is the other end of the spectrum. It's a firm poly. If you like Cyclone you'll hate hyper g soft. Tour bite or outlast may be more up your alley. The benifit of hyper g soft is being able to play in a hybrid for some snap or really thin Guage for more bite. It's a short use string.

Thoughts about hyper g soft vs tour bite soft? I love the solinco strings, but have some golfers elbow issues. So I try to walk the line between softer polys in a hybrid setup. So I'd be curious about your thoughts on those two strings, or maybe even cross recommendations.

to put it in perspective, if you are using hyper g 1.15 at 48 lbs, would you use the "soft" version at 49 lbs? 50 lbs? etc. also, could you substitute the 1.20 guage of the "soft" instead of the 1.15 guage of the regular hyper-g? cheers :)

My first impression that it is way too soft. I strung it at 48 in ezone 98 and muted powerful racket + muted soft strings just doesn’t work. No feel, no control, extreme pocketing, very good for the arm though. I see several possible good usages: if you have to use really soft but poly strings having injuries history or maybe some juniors will love it too.
@a2casius4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the review Jonas. I have two sets of the 1.25 waiting to be strung and then Lockdown hit us ... My timing sucks :)) I will give you my thoughts next month but looking at TW String data, it's only slightly stiffer than Yonex PTP 1.25, so I will definitely be careful in stringing it low. But FYI, I could never play with with the OG Hyper G as I found it excruciatingly stiff ... I managed to play with the 1.15 a few times but frankly, ultra thin strings can only be used in very tight string beds otherwise they'll fly or give you arm issues so dead end for me. The Soft could be a game changer :)
