That skiff handles the weather and chop really well. Little fishing tip is try fishing points and little creek mouths on outgoing tide and docks on incoming tides and also try taking off the popping cork those gulp shrimp are the bomb I have had so much success especially on new penny but gently jig it on the bottom and reel very slow. People tell me popping corks are great but never had much success may just be me through I may not be working them correctly.

One good way to fish the flats on a boat is drifting, letting the wind push your boat while casting ahead of you this way you can fish many dident areas at once this will help you find fish
@TripSmith3 жыл бұрын
Good tip! I will give that one a try.

Might be a good idea to clip a small float and line to the back side of that anchor, especially with that thin rode. If the rode breaks, you are out some money. Also, if the anchor fouls, you can get around and pull it loose from behind.
@davecfishing79073 жыл бұрын
try on the bottom when its cold, lose the cork unless its warm and sunny, the paddle tails you just crank slow and shrimp jig them

Hey trip. Thanks for the videos. Love the anchor bag idea . One addition I thought of is to run the end of the rode through a new hole in the bottom of the bag so you can tie off the end of the rode before throwing the anchor out of the other end of the bag. Just in case. (Yes I have forgotten to tie of the anchor rode, but was lucky the rode floated).
@TripSmith3 жыл бұрын
You're welcome, glad you enjoy them! I thought about that but I don't want the bag to be hanging around on deck. I like to keep things out of sight if possible.

Hey Trip, nice video. Lil tip that mite help on fishing. Watch for bait fish or schools, and diving birds, also where the wind and tide push water against a shoreline or especially points (hiding places). When the waters cold, work your lure slower, and live bait rules!

Im suprised u didnt get run over right there! Thats the main passage side of that bridge ALL the boats have to go thru that way. The other side close to Ono is where you should have been because there is a huge sandbar on the east side of the bridge that keeps boats from passing over that way.
@TripSmith3 жыл бұрын
No kidding? I donno, it was super shallow there, probably not even 2'. While I was there I saw two boats pass through (working barge and a charter sport fisher) both 2 or 3 sections over.

I was really hoping you’d hook up with something. You where trying so hard for yourself. Lol. Just don’t get discouraged. You will get it. The backwaters and bays can be tough sometimes. If you get a chance fish the surf of the gulf. The IWC is hard. Great adventure as usual even though the wishful weather app was just that. Stick to the one you know is most likely true and not what you expect. Weather has been crappy for the LA,panhandle area.

You really need to master fishing since youre surrounded by awesome fish. My useless 2¢ - Average person consumes over 10 times more nitrates from vegetables (yes vegetables) than they do processed meat... Even on carnivore/keto diet nitrates probably are not that big of an issue, as someone eating a vegan or plant-based diet is consuming way more nitrates. I think the carcinogens in the burnt/searing of meat are the bigger concern long-term.
@TripSmith3 жыл бұрын
What great info! Not useless... Now I know... So I probably don't need to worry so much about nitrates in jerky then huh?
