Awesome 👌 video, Dee! Your vision and use of space, gear and furnishings is highly efficient. Feng shui is pleasing to the eye. I'm a new van lifer at five months and use many of your ideas to convert my GMC Savana 2500 cargo van. One idea was using Aootek solar lights for outside security and it thwarted a wannabe thief as I had left some gear outside my sliding door. I heard a distant sound of a vehicle (pickup) and it woke me so I peered out the window. A person approached but ran off when the Aootek light was activated...so thanks 😊 for the idea. I'm so glad you talked about safety and taking precautions! I see So Many videos where these people dress in very revealing clothes to do their van tours and they don't seem to realize how unsafe it could be as a woman in this time and space. Although you can go through vanlife not being afraid, we really need to stress how important it is to dress appropriately, because there are people out there that can and will take advantage of a solo woman if they have an opportunity. It is amazing how little you need, or anyone needs. It is amazing how far you can go when you let go of all the things we have. I hitched hiked across the USA with a small back pack, a tent and a credit card/travellers cheques years ago, loved the kind people I met. All I needed was to be company for a while and we swapped stories. I could fly or bus anywhere but meeting people was the best. I bought my own food and used Laundromats. Everybody was kind and always offered more, wonderful people. Australians love the USA. Great videos. Very generous insights, thank you.

Having a dog is my weapon although I have never had to use her as such in 12k miles. Very good breed of humanity in the travel world. Gun is a nice thought, but laws change state to state. Bear spray and a nightstck flashlight with a wristband. Just be aware of your surroundings at all times and never let your body language say victim. Tip: always carry your keys in-between your fingers. I sharpened the tip on one in between my index and middle finger. If I feel a threat, I kind of look straight in his face and scratch my nose with it. The look on a guy's face is priceless.
