Solo flight in pattern :) Cessna 172 SP / KTIW

Able to solo in the pattern now! First time up after my sign off solo. Weather went from calm to too windy in the first 5 minutes so landed (not super gracefully) after one pattern. Brought GoPro to test blue tooth audio capture from the headset via phone (which is missing ATC, looking into that).

Elijah Phok There is ground school (you can do this online or in the classroom) and flight training in the airplane. Once you complete those, there is a written test, then a spoken and flying test with an examiner. After that you are all set. You can do the schools as quickly or as slowly as you want / schedule permits. Seems to be easier learning to fly the airplane if you fly a few times a week (keep the feel for it) but there are other students just flying weekly. You pay as you go, so no need to front all the money at once. Makes it much easier to work into the budget! :)

Cpt. Gavorn It is catchy! One of my coworkers had his and recently built himself a plane. Seemed like a lot of fun, and I always did want to fly... Turns out it is as fun as it looks :)

hondacrxrus Thanks! Wish the weather was better and an hour rental was cheaper :) Just saw your sim setup, nice! I really like that Saitek gear too. Haven't found better pedals or throttle set (that wasn't insanely expensive). There is a driver somebody wrote called Flightpanels that will let you use them with DCS and War Thunder too.

mdbuehler How much do they get you for the rental. Looks like brand new 172 skyhawk maybe a SP. I rent old 1970's 152's from my flight school $85 an hour including fuel. I haven't been able to get much flying in the last 3 months because crappy weather or just working. So close to my check ride too, I am getting sloppy without the practice.

hondacrxrus It is an SP. I think about $143 an hour. Myself and my instructor are tall (and not light) so the 152 ended up a bit cramped and would have weight issues on long flights :) I've read many a report of carb icing catching people out, so decided to pay the extra $15 an hour to get a fuel injected model. As a bonus it has a little GPS (can't get lost, emergency button for nearest airport among other useful things). The weather is getting me too. Only one lap last week before the weather hit, and it has been stormy / windy ever since. I like to get at least an hour a week to keep the "feel" for it. Forecast looking better next weekend, here's hoping we both get sun :)
