Thanks for creating the template for hexcrawling in DW and for tying the use of your deck to it. This is a great example of what your deck is and how it can be used. The addition of the Hexcrawl template also shows how we can create auxiliary material to be used with the deck to make it even more useful (and fun). The NPC template is another great example. I had been on the fence with the deck for some time (because I really wanted a professionally printed deck, like from DriveThruRpg) but after watching this video, I finally decided to get the deck. I will be going somewhere to get it printed in color on cardstock and then sleeve it up and start playing around with it.

Thanks! Since I first created the Oracle Deck I've been working on ways to make it more usable. I spent a long time playing around with it (as you can see in some of the videos) before settling on the Hex Creator, and then another 8 months or so playtesting it in various iterations. But after all that time, I STILL have little tweaks I'm making to it. So I'm going to continue to work on it and when I have a substantial number of changes I'll release a new ruleset. I hope you are using the new card backs I created. The original "muddy brown" backs were an after thought and the new ones look really good (IMO lol).

@@SessionZero The new backs look very nice, but since I am going to sleeve them I may not print the backs. They remind me somewhat of the MECCG card backs (which is one of my favorite card games, and which make great inspirational material for RPGs).

@@captainnolan5062 Oh yeah... I'm so used to using clear sleeves that I forget that not everyone else does too LOL.

Thanks Christoph! I'm still tweaking it a bit here and there too, so I'll eventually upload an updated set of rules for it!

@Jonathan Rector I hope you enjoy it! Hoping to have the new Solo Character Creator video out this Friday, but I had a problem with my memory card and had to reshoot most of it. If not this Friday it will be next Wednesday.

Enjoy! I always intended to go back and tweak this more and add to it, but I never got around to it.

I bought the deck and it's super cool! My only wish is that it had maybe 3 monsters per card. Tier 1, 2,3 or however you would do that. If I'm making a 5RD for players 1-3, a lich would be a bit much. It seems a lot of the monsters are on the higher CR rating. Other than that, fantastic resource.

@Rathor Rath Thanks! I've actually toyed with the idea of making a 60 card version of this deck for 5E, which has a d20 in the corner instead of a d6, and instead of the Dungeon World page number that space would be the CR. I think I could probably make room for three monsters too if I eliminated their Instincts. And to be honest, I just grabbed some of my favorite monsters from the Dungeon World rulebook LOL. Also, you don't have to read a card literally when making encounters. When looking at that card (20 of 54) if the Lich is too powerful for your party, maybe they encounter Baldric, a murderous fighter seeking (or carrying) a powerful relic which is a lich's phylactery. What's his story? Is he murderous because of the voice in his head driving him to find the phylactery? Or because he's found it and it's taking over his soul?

I have the oracle deck already. Where can I get a copy of the hex crawl template that you're filling out?

@Al Nelson go to DriveThru RPG and find the Dungeon World Oracle Deck in your Library (or just go to its product page). I uploaded a ZIP folder yesterday that includes the Hex Map, Solo Hex Instructions and "game rules", updated Solo Character Creator Playmat, The "New Style" Character sheet, Faction Worksheet and a blank grid for printing 2.5 by 3.5 cards on cardstock.

Wish I had got the deck when it was in print. Can't print it, hope I can find something else.

The deck has never been in print, it's always been print-and-play! I wanted to make it available for POD but I lost the original files (my laptop was stolen) and I haven't had the drive to recreate them from scratch.

How do you know the predominant terrain type?
@SessionZero2 жыл бұрын
@Alberaan there's a d6 chart on the hex map: 1 for plains/grasslands, 2 for Islands/coastal, 3 for Swamps/lowlands, etc. You reference that chart when you draw the d6 for predominant terrain.

Trying to download the DTRPG files, but I keep getting an error.
@SessionZero2 жыл бұрын
@Christian Fasy what is the error message you're getting, and when did you purchase the deck? I haven't had any problems with the files, so it may be something I have to reach out to DTRPG about.
