Very pleasant sunny views. Looks like a lovely campsite. I'm familiar with 118 from many years ago and checked out that landing but never actually got around to putting my canoe in there. I used to spend a lot of time in the Minden-Gooderham-Buckhorn area. The snowfall in the Sault area was wicked to see last Sunday so it's good to see this reminder of those lost autumn days.

Yeah we got a lot of snow here. Even with all the rain we’ve had the last few days in the milder temperatures. I still have a good couple of feet. I actually got in one more canoe trip after this one and a fall camping trip before the snow. The videos are behind, but I need to spread them out for shoulder season and the spring shows. I need to start working on my presentations. Busy busy !! lol

Great video, so nice to see the beautiful fall scenery. Nice not to be looking at snow as we have been looking at for weeks now. I'm sure you have enjoyed the nice melting we have had lately.
@CamperChristina5 күн бұрын
Thank you so much. Yes it was great editing this while I was in the middle of receiving 4 feet of snow. We do have some melting, but it’s not making much of an impact. I still have at least 2 to 3 feet of snow on my lawn at my house. lol. Cheers !

I'm only 47 seconds in... but I can't help to recoil in horror when you said "just a 400m portage". I can't wait to actually hear your experience, because the last time I did that portage in February of 2022 it wasn't "just a 400m portage"... The elevation changes are what I would describe as challenging... in the summer. In the winter? ... ug.
@CamperChristina5 күн бұрын
I do a lot of remote trips in Temagami where sometimes you can’t even find the portages. Some of them are boulder gardens the entire way, or are going up and down steep cliffs, downed trees. Quite a few I’ve done went through forest fire burn areas that were really overgrown and looked like they hadn’t been used in years. I personally didn’t find any major issues with this portage, but we all have different experience levels and different viewpoints of what is tough and challenging. I’m just used to doing more difficult routes and portages that are far more strenuous. I hope you enjoyed the video regardless. 😊 I’m sorry if I took away from your experience somehow. The link below is a presentation I did on portaging at the toronto outdoor adventure show last spring. You can see some of the doozies I’ve done in here. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment. I hope to hear from you again. Cheers! kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqWVlGRtnNikf80si=a7aIzsqD9mM5YhpG

Your backpack always looks so incredibly huge and heavy.
@CamperChristina5 күн бұрын
I don’t weigh it often, but generally it is around 40 pounds. Maybe it looks big, compared to me, as I’m only 5’4” but I’ve seen much bigger packs. I’ve also seen smaller ones. I just bring what I need. This trip only had one small portage and I packed quickly and just brought whatever I wanted. Hope you enjoyed the video. Cheers !
