Dude! One of the great things about your videos, is that you leave the crazy learning curve in when you can. You aren't a pro and don't pretend to be. Your a guy out there, living' the life and having a good time learning new things and taking us along. Won't say I don't enjoy when you actually land a catch, but the fact that you keep getting out and enjoying the process...thats everything.

Great camping spot. I'm very patient - I cook what other people catch! I've done a lot of potatoes in coals, but never meat on coals. I frequently skewer meat chunks on metal spits and prop them across the fire pit. I'll put them in marinade the night before. People can have their meat cooked to their preference. I continue to really like the new camper! Luck with your fishing skills!!!

Tips with something’s I saw. With a salmon fly hatch the fish will literally be 6 inches off shore. So when you wadded in you were likely spooking all the fish. You most likely want to be hanging right along the bank not really even getting in the water if you can help it. If I was floating I would be trying to land my fly on the bank and then lightly popping it off into the water. As a salmon fly hatches they crawl out from the slow water on the shore and up the leaves and grass on the bank untill their bodies are dry and then they fly away so if you can make your fly flop off some grass into the water like right on the bank you’ll kill it. So in summary just be very weary of where you’re wading and try to stay out of the water if possible.
@stuartforsyth42792 жыл бұрын
Hi Jonathan, I would try casting a shorter line and only fish for a few seconds then recast, that would put you more in touch with the fly and more likely too hook up ☺

Have you done a video explaining what you set up in your new shell? Bob Wells of Cheap RV Living has done some "no build" videos. One uses a cheap but sturdy bed frame where you can store things underneath, and he has easy ways to level the legs. Other people show no-build solutions, too.

When I was young I caught fish winging it all the time but not fly fishing. Nobody really taught me much. The major difference is I never fished fast flowing water like you seem to always do. I fished off rock cliffs, docks and with a paddle boat, often along rock cliffs. I used red devils and plugs and soft plastic lures. Sometimes I trolled with spinners if I recall. But often just hook, worm and sinker.

A tip for you after using your waders hang them upside down or feet up. That allows any moisture left inside from sweating to drain out and you can leave them hanging overnight to dry out completely.

I know it's cool and outdoor rustic roughing it, but be careful cooking in a fire pit. You never know what people before you put in there. Sometimes people put chemically coated trash, human or animal waste, petroleum products... Just saying some people suck and always keep that in mind when giving it a good look over. Maybe not your first choice of campsite but it's gotta be better than being surrounded by tons of other loud campers. Love the Bellaire camper. Tons of room in there for customizing it. Hoping you would do some buildout segments.

Great video! Camper is so awesome. Dm me if you would like to go out and fly fish. I live near Portland. I usually fish the coast. The fly you had on the camera was a golden stone. They would be a little smaller then the salmon fly but hatch around the same time. When I fish the deschutes. I will generally stay closer to the bank as to not spook anything and use cover. Then fish outwards. Don’t get discouraged it took me a long time to learn. I took a guy out last year and he fly fish for over 20+ years and never caught a fish.lol.
