You nailed it my friend. Today there’s such a trend to over spend and over compensate we lose focus of the main objective. Adventures. This trend is also scaring away many people wanting to get out but can’t afford all these must have luxuries. By the way, that topper fits your truck and personality perfectly. Keep it up and stay safe!

First, best "camper" I owned was a 1966 Falcon wagon 289 AT, AC, with magicgate. Rear seats flat with a yard lounge pad, rear seats down flat =7 foot, 2 people easy. Tailgate down was the kitchen and dinner table, aluminum lawn chairs for seats. Camped all over the Sierra all type of weather, all types of roads. Never should have sold it.

Glad to see you posting again and really appreciate your current insight. It's not what you have, it's what you do with it! I own a few vehicles, which include a early Ford 7.3 4x4, a super basic 4cyl tacoma, and a couple more. They all have their uses. My little 2.7 Tacoma isn't perfect at any one task, but is darn good at a lot of things I want it to do! Over the years, that type of thinking has "thinned my herd" into what works for me. I'm happy with my current stable. The whole "overland" thing, has quite honestly started to annoy me. I'm in my 60's, and was born in the 60's. We called it truck camping / jeep camping / car camping.(fill in the blank)..? We didn't need a fancy title, nor a ton of overpriced equipment. Folks today think they need all this stuff on an already overpriced / overqualified vehicle, to go camping, or just adventuring, on forest service / BLM land. Hmm..? Some of my funnest / and funniest memories, are from when me and my buddies were dead ass broke / or just barely getting by, camping in the local backcounrty / or eastern sierra's, on the ground, in tents, or in the backs of our old 60's / 70's trucks. It makes me happy to see younger folks get back to the basics!!

I love the simplicity! It's a great example for people who are curious, but frozen with all the options. Also, it's a good example for people who are either limited on funds or simply don't want to invest a lot of money in order to get out there and explore.

My guy. I rock a Tundra and a “camper” shell. Got me a bed and a stove. There’s room for a cooler and clothes. Gets me lots of places and it looks like yours does too. Keep it up! “Leveled up” is the way you adventure, not the rig you roll up in.

Yup, i think you finally got it. The Slumber Queen would have been just fine.... it's the adventures that mattered. With the truck camper at least you had an inside space to film and cook your favorite meals. An older Lance Lite 835 would be a great rig.

Have fun and enjoy. :) The adventure, discovery and rig and good film work is essential, but the magic juice is your soul having a good time and that comes through your videos when you are on. Hope that makes sense. You know, many of us wish we could get away and enjoy the smell of the earth, the crips cool air, pine needles and camp fires. and the freedom of just doing it. Thank you

I keep getting stuck on what kind of camper I want. I keep coming back to my late dad's 2001 chevy silverado with 50k miles on it. Just a camper shell. It is simple. I can have a piece of him with me everywhere I go.
@josephdover198Ай бұрын
Then why are you getting stuck? A Chevy with 50k miles on it means it's not ready to roll over and quit on you. Or you could be like this guy and just piss money into the wind changing vehicles and "rigs" every 4 months.

Def show us the rig tho..we like to crawl into all of your spaces no matter how small..like a kid wishing they could fit inside the dollhouse n become the size of a doll. I agree 💯 about "KISS". I'm actually glad to see you returning to a minimal style of camping. It lets your camping and cooking skills really stand out more. Anyone can fire up an oven in a full-on RV Camper but real adventures call for real cooking skills like you have and you showcase them so perfectly too. The new rug is an excellent 👍 choice and the high dome and roof rack are perfectly suited for your current needs. Can't wait to see your next videos! I think you hit the bullseye 🎯... Adventure, Fish, Hike, Cook, and Camp comfortably. Yes!
