It's been a little bit since my last Solo Play Sunday but we're back at it again with the third game in the Azul series... Summer Pavilion! Today I'm using a solo mode I based off of Ricky Royal's solo mode for the original Azul which you can check out below! Hey Dave! Fantastic video I never have played this one solo so it's super cool to see how it works. I love how the AI plays clean,easy,and fast 😄 I also learned a lot from the presentation and quality of your video and definitely took some notes as I continue my KZbin journey. Unfortunately I don't have a text document for this solo variant! I just tweaked Ricky Royal's variant for the base Azul (found here: www.boxofdelights.net/azul) for this sequel but I never got around to making a document of the variant! Sorry!

And here it comes Azul back again! 😆 Which is not a bad thing at all for me, since I love abstract games. I gifted Summer Pavillion to a friend of mine (who is a fan of the original), played a couple times and I really enjoyed it. Very different mechanics, but I felt similar vibes. AND, I recently played Queen's Garden too 🌹 I remember commenting your solo play a while ago, and I confirm my previous impressions. Very thinky and it felt much less Azul-esque than the previous ones. I didn't like drawing the tiles little by little since it reduced the ability to program my moves. BUT, surprisingly, it was better than I expected. Probably not my favorite, but still a solid entry.

Yes, Azul again! 😆 But it'll be the last Azul playthrough... at least until they make the fifth Azul game! 🤣 I love abstract games too, especially for a relaxing two-player or solo experience! I was letting a friend borrow Queen's Garden for a while so it's been a while since the last time I played but I've been itching to get it back to the table with Hannah again! It is very different from the other Azuls but I really enjoy it! 💐 Glad you liked that one, too! (Which one is your favorite, then? Stained Glass?)

@@BoardGameDave Actually, Sintra is the only Azul I haven't played yet (though I've watched your solo game, and it seems to have some interesting ideas). My favorite? Good question... I guess it depends a lot on the mood and how much "crunch" I'm looking for. P.s. Forgot to say that I really enjoyed the jazzy vibes 🎶

@@marcodissa Sintra is really, really good... and maybe my favorite of the Azul quadrilogy, although it depends on my mood, too! (I'm glad you appreciated that! It was hard to find and then mix together enough copyright-free jazz tracks for this playthrough!) 🎵

Wow Dave! Excellent solo video, definitely. I had no idea you could solo Azul Summer Pavilion so easily! I will definitely try it out this weekend. Keep doing the solo sundays series please, I love them. I watched the video for Solo Sunday Azul Queens Garden and convinced me to buy it right away. Having the option to play it with my wife or solo is amazing! Which Azul do you prefer? I think Summer Pavilion is my favorite 😊

Thank you for your comment, Mario! Yeah, I just keep recycling the Ricky Royal variant for the base game and adding small changes for each sequel and I really like the simple solo approach! Did you get a chance to play Summer Pavilion solo? And have you played Queen’s Garden yet? If so, what did you think? 💐 After a lot of thought, I think Stained Glass of Sintra might be my favorite, but I need to play Queen’s Garden more!
