Your bamboo roof is upside down. At the backside of your shelter put two stakes in the ground and tie a pole that parallels the top bar. Flip your bamboo over to create a natural rain catch. Use half a bamboo half that the slats all drain into and have one end lower than the other. Put your water bottle on that end. If you want a waterproof roof, put bamboo halves facing opposite to fill in the cracks. Your whole surface of the roof is going to catch your water.

Ive been a huge fan if him but theres certain things that ive noticed. 1. He always manages to find shoes, or whatever which is kinda weird considering the most garbage you usually find in nature are water bottles, plastics or fabrics, finding glass, cans or another thing is rare, most of time but not always. 2. At the 43:35 mark there was people in another rock far from him and he acted like there ws no one or he didnt mention it, so when he saw that mess in his shelter, he should have tought of someone destroying it, not the sea. so those people are highly probable to be a part of his production. 3. If you are supposedly without phone or anything else, how do you go out of the island like that when you get defeated? Does that mean, he can just leave whenever he wants to a certain directon and find people? or do he has a vehicle hidden somewhere? because whats the point on the survival if he can just go when feeling defeated?. I dont get that.

Matty you poor bastard. This is the only time in twelve months of watching your videos I've seen you defeated. And you still have a positive attitude and it seems you have already learnt your lessons.

I have seen over people boil water in plastic bottles,it's a matter of keeping it the right distance from the fire to boil and not melt.

hey there dawgie! being a distiller from way back, i would have used the tin as a reliable , fire sized , metal boiler with the lid on and a short piece of thick bamboo coming up out of the lid two inches or so and a second thinner piece , hollowed and two metres long , down hill flow after the short piece in the lid [ hole in side of thick piece and last bung section of the length blocking the top] down to a large glass bottle for condensation to flow to and escaping steam making it past the bamboo can be captured here with some coconut husk wetted with salt water for extra cooling in the bottle second stage cooling , place the tin on three rocks in a triangle and a small fire , wet the husk around the bottle and you will be suprised how much water you will get an hour, perhaps a litre an hour maybe? you have tried the bottle as the boiler method and found out about glasses hate for temprature changes and differences from the top of the bottle and the bottom in the fire , metal handles the stresses much better , BUT the glass bottles are much better suited to the cooiling /condensation part of the operation , maybe keep this in mind in future challenges if you find a gas cylinder or similar metal item and build a pro level still on a desert island , solving water problems early and permanently? look at the water purifier in the game "rust" [ google rust water purifyer] to get some idea of the design i am thinging of with a gas clyinder and such , happy new year matey!

Me too...but one question....why were the batteries not charged up in the first place? He should have a whole bunch all full right? Did he bring a plastic container of dead batteries with him or did he use them all up? I don't know the capacities of GoPro batteries, but I am fairly certain they would have lasted more than a day and a half....not being negative here, I absolutely love this guy...but I think he is trying to produce drama lol. Which is a good thing obviously. I'll be waiting for Sunday for sure eh?
@antisocialpenguin23983 жыл бұрын
@@flexopuppy also keep in mind that rechargeable batteries don't always hold charge that well, I don't have experience with those batteries either so I'm not sure if the discharge is enough to make a difference

Bamboo 101 , if you use bamboo as a roof material you alternate the slats one up one down( obviously you need to remove the walls inside the bamboo so the water runs down)) so they fit into each other, 100% water collection system if it rains, you just put an angled down piece of bamboo at the bottom of all of them you got a gutter to catch all the rain and feed it into bottles. The roof of your shelter was already built and 4 times bigger than your slip-and-slide.

There is another good way for collecting water also, if you put out a shirt or any kind of "clean" cloth in the rain, then you can squeeze out rain water from it :) Cheers from sweden! love what you do man! Keep it up! :)
