Nice setup with the tires. Poirier used those hammer fists against Hooker recently. I'd never seen them outside of ground work before in UFC, but they were very effective. However, I think it worked despite his range being wrapped up in the clinch because he did it slightly differently. He couldn't reach back and drive forward because he had his back against the cage. He had to snap the elbow into the line laterally to crack them against Hooker's ear. If you have forward range and no clinch, seems to me that a palm strike to penetrate is good, but I wouldn't retract after that. I'd mark the range with fingers remaining on the face to be ready to stiff-arm a clinch, then replace with the elbow straight away and repeat. I think elbows are better than hammer fists if you have range... more damage for the same work. Just an opinion, but I worry about drilling specific combos. I think it builds muscle memory to recreate an exact pattern by rote, which could get you into a bad spot if the moment calls for some of those strikes but not others. When I work a dummy head, I try to improv every strike with intent to avoid letting certain types of strikes always follow certain others. Anyway, I'm rambling too much. Thanks for the great content!

What type of tyres are these? What dimensions are the tyre - if you know, (you may not bother with that type of detail ?). (A car tyre would have a steel belt in them and be less flexible and useful I guess).

Professor Mulder the progressive resistance training especially at the end when the practitioner snatches and simulates the attempt to throw the attacker down to the floor!!! This allows you to go ALL OUT without hurting anyone and develops the muscular development necessary to do sharpen such an useful tool in one's arsenal !!! JKD Sifu Mike Goldberg Fort Worth, Texas
