@ 11:06 if it is a natural fibre then you can use Lanolin (from sheep's wool) and dissolve it in a a solvent such and a high proof alcohol like Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) and brush it on as it will seep into the material and lanolin manages to keep the sheep dry.

As you say Dave, you don't always get the lovely weather, however an engaging film non the less. Your location on Christianbury crag, would had been a commanding view point for observing Comet Neowise (lowish NW from 11pm). Naked eye, very fine in binoculars. Will still be visible for a few days, perhaps on the next wild camp, look up the trackers on-line.

@@BorderRambler Hope you get a chance Dave. Could I make a mention, with your wild camping proximity to Kielder, to perhaps pass a message on, for the benefit of northern / border wild campers. There has been an outright ban imposed by Kielder Water, Border Forest Park on all wild camping in the area. This might also apply to the use of the bothies (which were currently still closed). This is because of what is now referred to as a bunch of 'dirty campers' at Deadwater. Recently went to Kielder Village for a wild camp across the border. Frosty reception by some villagers, I did not know about the incident then and was only concerned about midges not hostile villagers. The ban came about a few days later on Facebook. Groups such as Wild Camping UK, Backpacking Club UK, Bikepacking World have strongly responded. Comparing these scumbags to dedicated wild campers. In this instance, they were caught, amongst the pop up tents, rubbish, beer bottles, laughing gas cannisters, was a credit card and phone. The concern is you cannot leave your car overnight in the area without causing suspicion. Ban to last until next year at least for now.
@BorderRambler4 жыл бұрын
Iain Sharples thanks Iain I did see this and will pass on the info but I am always on the cumbria side (parking/camping) the border is literally within touching distance depending where you are ie Christianbury is about 1/4 mile from the border luckily with Glendhu hill right on the border . It’s a pity a certain few have gave us bad press ! It’s easy to carry in and out all our gear but they can’t seem to manage that .atb Dave

@@BorderRambler Thanks Dave, there may be a few that may watch your channel and will not be aware of this circumstance and I haven't gotten round to establishing my own channel. Our rights are sensitive enough, the recent anti social behaviour demonstrated by some is a concern. Yes certainly where you are is fine and across the border has less restrictions and substantially good locations for backpacking.

Wow Dave - where did July go? That was an awesome camp considering. I do like the wild misty moors and although a few views broke through it would have been nice for something more sustained.
