Hello and thank you for reaching out, so nice here and glad you found the channel. you are right Dumfries and Galloway is so vast and has so much to be discovered. Lots of little hidden gems of places to hide away and get the quiet time to relax. Many bothies and camping places down there. Some good decent car parking places and great cycle tracks so good for bikes. Done a few camps down that way and each one has been different so yes a great place to go. All the best Steve 👍

Thank you for the comment its a beautiful part of the country to visit and such a vast place, plenty to explore and some areas are pretty remote to so you can get the peace and quiet. Its a good place Simon, there are a few bothies i think so you could make a nice couple of days camping and in a bothy so always worth a search, plenty parking to in the forests. Thanks again Steve 👍

The Galloways is a place where I cut my teeth as a boy wild camping with two pals. Now after 50 years we have reconnected and we are planning a return in our old age. We have common ailments such as arthritis and I have had quadruple heart bypass surgery but we will sit around the campfire like the four Yorkshiremen in monty python and enjoy this wonderful part of Scotland once more

Aww James both good and some bad memories but i see the good outweighs the bad. Thats fantastic to rekindle the old ones and return i guess pretty emotional my friend. You have been some fighter which i take my hat off to you and with you the best of health thats a great story to hear, you are a hardy fella. It sure is a lovely part and in a way not to strenuous to get around, great roads and tracks all around and through the whole area. Keep up the good health James and wish you all a safe and pleasant catch up around that fire. Thanks for sharing your memories. Steve 👍

Beautiful place. Did enjoy that one. Big pinch of dried thyme and parsley will help the soup a lot.

Thank you for the video - beautiful location - I have subscribed. I'm from the Paisley area, looking for a spot to do another wild camp. I've done 1 solo wild camp back in 2019 in Clyde Muirshiel Country Park away up in the hills behind Lochwinnoch, hoping to do another 1 before the end of Autumn but somewhere different. I take it that you are not allowed to drive your car up the forest roads? I notice you didn't put any butter on your rolls, my goodness that would be too dry for me.

Thanks for the comment, glad you like the video and hope you find it useful. The Galloway forest park is pretty good for forest roads and have many forest car parks and you can just walk from the car in the the hills, woodlands and forests which are really good down that way. even up to Glencoe or down Glen Etive you can park your car at the side of the road and cap, in saying that not sure what the locals are doing as they have so many people leaving rubbish and partying in that area so probably worth finding somewhere better. I don't carry any butter etc when away wild camping i try just take the necessary things, i am used to cutting back in the luxury items and foods. Hope you manage to get out into the great outdoors and find a spot. Cheers for subscribing. Steve 👍

Looks beautiful. We are doing our very first ever bike pack in a couple of weeks and this spot looks perfect. Would it be accessible enough to get to the Loch Edge with our bikes. Dont mind a bit of a bumpy push for a view like that. 🙂

Hello thanks for getting in touch, yeah its lovely. absolutely you can get to it. I parked the car at Water of Fleet viaduct and the walked out but the tracks and roads are good for cycling on as are many of them in the Galloway Forest park. Loch Grannoch is a great place to go it has a little beach at the South end and its not far off the track. You can get to the water edge pretty well and are a couple of good spots to camp if needed or for a picnic. There were signs that other people had been there camping and had fires which was not good to see so i camped in the wooded area a bit further on. The beach looked really nice and easy to get to with the bikes. Hope that helps and you will enjoy the cycle in, very peaceful. Enjoy. Steve 👍

Thank you for the inspiring video! I live in Kirkcudbright and want to try your route. Is the car park easy to find if I get to the Fleet Viaduct? Thanks again!
@Campingonthewildsidescotland
@Campingonthewildsidescotland 9 ай бұрын
Hello, Thank you for the comment, yes absolutely, i parked at Fleet Viaduct right beside it, there is a little bit off the track and you will see it to park. The walk is all on the forest road so if you have a bike you could do it quicker but if not it really is a good walk to do. Worth google mapping so you know the tracks to take but its nothing major and nothing to difficult to walk. There is a nice sandy beach at the Loch that looked really nice to get some quiet time and then a wander in the wooded area where i camped is very peaceful. Hope you manage to get there its maybe an hours walk at a guess. from the Viaduct. Steve 👍

Hi, did you park in the Cairnsmore of Fleet national nature reserve car park?
@Campingonthewildsidescotland
@Campingonthewildsidescotland 8 ай бұрын
Hello thanks for getting in touch, No but you could use that car park. If you drive on just a little further like 200 yards from that car park you come to the Viaduct, i parked just there. i only parked there because i didn't know if i could park in the car park over night. Hope this helps Steve👍
