I've been waiting to ride this HA680 foil for a while now. everything felt right today but I was nervous... 680!!! that's the smallest foil I've ever winged with!! is it really gonna be enough?? if one thing was off, this wasn't going to go my way... at least these really aren't conditions that I would be grabbing my v1 HA725 or my MA800. so it feels like a gamble.
fingers crossed it works out!!
gear ridden this sesh:
75L v1 Armie FG board
HA680 foil
795 HM mast, 11 in track
60 fuse
180 speed stab (red & blue shims)
5.5m v3 F-One STRIKE wing
5:4 Mahulu Stormrider wetsuit
Kaohi double coil grip leash & padded belt
Solite 8mm Custom 2.0 booties

Alright Jeremy! 🎉 It's good to see you so stoked, it makes me stoked! 😁 I'm glad you're loving the new Armie 680! I bought the HA1080 and HA880, but I haven't tried them yet. It'll be a few months before the lake ice thaws here in Minnesota. But seeing you frothing over the new foils makes me feel like putting down serious $$$ 💰 for the new foils will be a good a good investment! I can't wait to experience the latest & greatest foil gear from Armie! Thanks for your videos. I love seeing your enthusiasm and hearing your nonsponsored reviews & unfiltered thoughts! 👍 You're a wealth of knowledge. Keeping on rocking Wind Bro! 🫡

oh man I hope it's a warm winter for you... the groundhog says a shorter winter and that's science right there. you are gonna be stoked on the new foils. I ride the 880 s3 this past week, 2 for foil SUP surfing and one for wing... it's pretty sweet. I love the glide and the pump, and the turning... I love it all. I really wonder if I will use the 1080 much but I think I will when trying the downwinding and maybe for really light wind & wave situations. Keep me in the loop on all thaw rates, sessions, stoke and froth in the coming months! stoked for you!!

Hi Jérémie, thanks for the video! can't wait for your test of the 780...I have the 980 which glides like crazy...and I'm hesitant about purchasing the 680. like you I'm a little short of money for all these toys... good day to you

you are very welcome bud! I have had one quick sesh on the 780... it was right before this one. it's great. the 680 felt like it had as much lift as the 1000, so part of me is considering a quiver of 580/780/1080 but I think I'll prolly stick with the 680/880/1080. the 780 would be my one-foil quiver. kinda like that 925 was two years ago. but so far the 880 is a great glider and pumper, obvi similar to the 980. the wind is a funky direction this weekend and it's cold, but I hope to try at least two of these back-to-back, or at least rock the 780. more soon! I wish you an awesome weekend!

Hi Jeremy, thanks for the great video! Did you use any shims with the 680 and which stab did you use (140 or 180). How would you compare it to the MA 1000 in terms of glide. Does it overlap with the Ma1000 (or rather a good addition). BTW: did you try the new Armstrong boards already?
@OCEANBOUND1
@OCEANBOUND1 5 ай бұрын
sup bud!! I do use shims, I've been using the red and blue for both the 140 and the 180. I tried deviating a little and went back... I wanted to try things with as many of the same factors as possible. It's what I'm used to, it seems to be working well. comparing the 1000 with the 680... they are sooooo different. the 680 is so small. it does have pretty good glide but it def dropped out on me a few times in this session when going slow. I think the 1000 kinda sucks in the glide dept but it could be similar to the 680. really interesting thought about comparing the two. I'll look into doing that if I can, next flatwater sesh. And no, have not tried the new Armie boards. I don't have the money to purchase right now, and I bought the new foils with the thinking I do have a pretty good working board. I reached out to Armie asking if they'd send me a new one, they did respond with an offer for a discount but I can't event afford that so it's gonna have to wait a few months.

Hi late to this video- hope all going great! Im a 120lb gal. And im looking for wave set up that i can control pitch- you mention the 680 has lift even like the 1000 perhaps-- did you notice it wanting to rise ?esp gaining speed, turning, going down wave? Appreciate any insights as its allot $$ to throw at without trying first.
@OCEANBOUND1
@OCEANBOUND1 4 ай бұрын
heyo! all good. there are a lot of factors... but I do think I'll be riding the 680 as much as possible, given it's so fun to turn, comes up early and isn't that bad for jump recovery. so far I've only ridden it with the 140 and 180 tail. I'm really curious how that 205 will feel with it, that could be a great combo cause it will take away a little of the skatey-ness and give it more control. this particular sesh I was nosing down a lot but that was fixed by moving my mast forward. I seem to be riding these about 2cm more forward than any other Armie wing I've ridden. so once I've figured out the right mast placement, I'm personally not finding it unbalanced or rising at speeds. honestly I'm jealous of your size, I'd prolly be all over that 580 and I'm totally thinking about getting one but it'd be redundant with the 680. one cool thing about these, they really like the "up" pump IMP so you can use that to crank some tight turns if you are banking them right. I'm stoked to take this one out in more waves. more to come. but if you like the MA1000, you'd prolly really dig this foil the same if not more, but it depends on what you like to do. hope this helps, I wish you an awesome day wherever you are!

Do you just find that 95% time a 4.5 and 5.5 wing will cover most conditions. The 680 looked sweet nice flow of rail to rail going down the line awesome drop bro 😊
@OCEANBOUND1
@OCEANBOUND1 5 ай бұрын
I 'd say my 5.5 covers 90% or everything, but this year I think the smaller wings will be used more with the new board and new HA's. I have a 5m PPC M1 coming and I think that may even be too big (they seem pretty efficient). but best case scenario... the 4.5 is the new 5.5! thanks bud, and as always, I wish you and yr crew an awesome weekend!

@OCEANBOUND1
@OCEANBOUND1 5 ай бұрын
def the smallest I've ever been on! but has more lift than the 2 closest foils I've ridden that are slightly bigger (725 and 800). wind was 20-23mph, some gusts, some lulls. 5.5m STRIKE that's very bagged out.

Awesome video! Thanks for sharing the stoke! If you were to pick between the 780 and 680 for you one-wing quiver, which one would be? I spent a month on the 880 and seems to be too big for my 170 lbs as an every day driver. Any thoughts? Thanks again!
@OCEANBOUND1
@OCEANBOUND1 5 ай бұрын
yeah so far I really dig the 880 but more for light wind days. the 780 seems like the replacement for the 925 IMO... I'm 170ish too. BUT I'm gonna need to play with the 680 more. at this point I'd recommend the 780 but that 680 really surprised me with the low end lift. I will try to use that 680 as much as possible so to be continued! thanks bud, I wish you an awesome weekend!

Get the humm out of your foils. Don’t be scared of some 800 grit sandpaper. And just smooth out edges. It can also be your mast humming.

Yeah I’m lazy. I haven’t worked on my latest 2 stabs, I’ll get to that soon. And I need a few sessions on these to make sure I’m feeling/hearing what I think I’m feeling. I wasn’t getting it with the 880 but got it with both the 780 and 680. More research needed. I wish you a great day bud!
