IT’S A LONG WAY TO THE TOP - A SoloDallas Cover for Bon Scott

The SoloDallas team returns once again to honour AC/DC and singer Bon Scott on the 45th anniversary of their album HIGH VOLTAGE.
JP and Kris travelled to The Warehouse Studio and completed tracking and filming with iconic AC/DC sound engineer and producer, Mike “Fraze” Fraser. We were honoured to be able to work along side him on such a project, and look forward to future projects.
The team strived to achieve sounds and performances close to the original (even using tape and Neve console actually used by AC/DC for the past 20 years) for Malcolm’s guitar sound and Bon’s bagpipes. The rest of the production and the mix down were attained with modern means and technology.
We hope you’ll love our work - we certainly loved each second of our involvement for the months it took to complete.

I was 11 years old in 1977 when Elvis died on 16th August. On the 17th I heard this track... 55 today and as I closed my eyes that track absolutely sounds like it was coming from the vinyl... SoloDallas, you and Michael Vincent can provide the answer to an age old question: what would AC/DC's later music have sounded like had Bon Scott survived?!! I have always tried to imagine iconic toons like Back n Black, For Those About to Rock, etc. with Bon on vocals. What a great experiment that would be! Please do it!

@@SoloDallas The thing is that you can get a soundalike to sing 'Back In Black', but you can't predict how Mr. Scott's songwriting input might have affected the lyrics themselves. The songs themselves would have been different, and there would have been other songs in addition because he wasn't just a vocalist but also a songwriter. I enjoyed this cover however, so more power to you and the group whatever you decide to do.

I was lucky enough to see Bon and the boys play this live back in 1975 at the local footy oval in Castlemaine, central Victoria Australia. The stage was a couple of truck trailers and Angus was on Bons shoulders ripping it up. Cool as fuck. You guys absolutely nailed it.
