I ❤ you and all your teachings. Gravity has no other energy to balance it correct? The correct angles, toroidal, magnetics, and quantum physics will be the answer to gravity. Vera Ruben proved Newtonian Mechanics doesn't work. If I could spend a few hours with you, I could only imagine how much new discoveries would be found. Quantum tunneling, space time and time space. These concepts will play a huge piece in the future. Thank You.

Hello Walter Lewin, my physics teacher teaches us physics in a really bad way that we all get bored. At first I thought it was my problem but soon after some time I realised I am interested in physics when I study by my own. Nevertheless, our teacher expects our solution should match to his methods, he doesn't do any experiments, he doesn't proof any theorem and he just forces us to cram all the formulas for exam. I love to study physics but without knowing the logic of something I cannot understand it. At last, I may ask you that what should I do, Should I study by myself and your lectures 8.02, 8.03(already watched 8.01 and loved it) or should I just cram what my teacher says.

Sir I have a question - A nonconducting sheet of large surface area and thickness d contains uniform charge distribution of density p. Find the electric field at a point P inside the plate, at a distance x from the central plane.[ from prof. Verma's book] Two answers are coming when I choose Gaussian surface as vertical cyclinder I get px/2E° And when I choose Gaussian surface as horizontal cylinder I get px/E° Please help me to solve this problem [sorry for grammatical errors]

Woot! First! Btw, where is the inflection point inside the Earth? Certainly not at the surface.
@carultch22 күн бұрын
It is at the surface, if you assume uniform density. The GPE function of radius is quadratic, and has no inflection point. At the surface, there is an abrupt change from a parabola to a hyperbola, and at that abrupt change, there is an abrupt change from positive curvature to negative curvature. If you account for PREM data instead of uniform density, as I explored, I found that the GPE(r) function appears to be close to a parabolic within the Earth's core, and then it becomes very close to linear within the Earth's mantle, and is tangent to the GPE at the surface, where it abruptly switches to its 1/r behavior.
