Dream theory was the original plan. That’s what Scott was implying when he said there were no random Easter eggs. All of it was eluding to the entire series being the dreams of the Crying Child.

The box most likely had either the masks (if we assume that "some things are best left forgotten, for now" refers to the incident at Fredbear's) or some of Evan's belongings (if we assume that "some things are best left forgotten" refers to forgetting about Evan) I'm leaning more towards it being the masks, as they reminded Michael of the bullying that he put his younger brother through. A third theory I had is that after the incident, the father scrapped Fredbear and Springbonnie and put their parts into the box.

The Mangle and toys in 4 might suggest that's why they're in Fnaf 2 because he saw them on the playground and imagined them in his dream, but the answer is much simpler - it's just merch. The original gang has stuffed animals, masks and toys. Due to the fact that the little toy Chica had a removable beak, FE took inspiration from their own merch and made the same function in the animatronic. But now you will probably say "but how can such an explanation solve fnaf 4?" Well, there are several possibilities - 1 Or it was supposed to be a common element between the HD and Fnaf 4 minigames that if Mangle breaks here, he'll fold back to 3. Long story short - in 3 we collect BV's memories to organize Happiest Day for him. 2 Perhaps this meant that the action takes place in 83. Yes, Toy Chica existed in 87, but note that she was an animatronic. However, in 4 he is just a toy. Why? Because the Toy animatronic must be based on the toy. 3 BV shares memories with MCI's children or his agony affects FE. As you can see, any of these explanations can work without the dream theory. Another thing 4 games 1 story doesn't necessarily mean all 4 games are BV dreams this could work as well as 4 just builds on what happened in Fredbears Family Dinner adds depth to Mike which is very important for the plot and introduces a new thread related to William, i.e. experiments on his children. last 3 things: If it was just BV's dream then the call with 1, hospital easter eggs and game 4 don't make sense + BV is afraid of Fredbear not Golden Freddy so where is that 1 in his dreams? Another thing - Sister Location does not introduce a new plot, but clarifies old threads. It's not like everything is real now and it was a dream before. No, it wasn't. One last thing - Scott's post on Steam doesn't say he's changing the plot and it's because of the fans, he just says he's not opening the box after all. And the box is not the whole story, because it's related to 4. The box is the parts put together, but not in the context that it's the whole story of each game, but the parts/elements of the 4 that together make up the whole of what's in the box.

I think that Fnaf 4 is both the bite victim's dreams and Mike's. In a world with ghosts I don't see the problem with a kid having dreams of the future.

I have a theory regarding CC inflicting the nightmares to Michael. So first of, I find it a bit hard to believe that his personality went from "a crying and scared child" to "oh actually no, I want revenge", so WHAT IF: What if CC made Michael have the nightmares not only to get revenge (I'm not discarding this either), but more to SHOW Michael exactly what William had done to him in the past, and this way to make Michael more motivated to find William and to stop him once and for all? To get revenge not only for his past (Michael's), but also for what his father had done to his little brother in the past? I think it would suit CC most to be honest, but what do you think?

I pretty considered FNAF 4 being Michael's final challenge of facing the nightmares, which is why there is no more "hallucination" (like Golden Freddy's "it's me") in FNAF 6. Remember, Scott even called it "the final chapter", more like.. its the final chapter for Mikey affliction with the nightmares.

The nightmare animatronics are real nor they're products with illusion discs, they are only nightmare since have reflections, Nightmare Fredbear is drawn Michael's logbooks by Evan when he is not home and they are only nightmare because Evan suffered from both Michael and friends.

Think about this what if fnaf 1-4 is still the crying child's dream after all in FNAF 1 the lore is on the walls of the place and on FNAF 2 we have weird scenes shown to us and in the third installment we have the mini games and you know what's in the fourth one, now everything that happen in the first 4 games happens in real life, however we the players can't figure out a good timeline because the crying child only has some info or incomplete info, and he only remembers bits and pieces of everything that happened and the reason you can hear the FNAF phone call in the background is because the crying child was there when it was being recorded, in the game it's kinda hard to hear it and you gotta listen to hear it play in the back ground, obviously this is because the crying child himself doesn't remember but his subconscious does after all dreams sometimes reveals stuff to us we forget about and like wise the crying child has heard a lot about what's happens and seen articles, didn't read them just seem them that's why we see the lore on the walls, and doesn't know the full story of the murders and we can only know what the crying child knows that's why I say it's all still the crying child's dream

Good theory but I think Scott was being over generous when he said all the pieces were in place for us. Because in the dawko interview he admitted he cast the net far too wide for interpretation. This debunks dream theory in itself. The contents in the box changed, but not because of dream theory. The pieces can't both be in place for us to find and at the same time the lore so incoherent it would be impossible for anyone to figure it out. It's one or the other not both. Scott only made fnaf 4 due to the fnaf 3 jumpscare. And he wanted 4 to be scary because fnaf 3 wasn't. You need to keep that in mind. The nightmares weren't on the table at all until fnaf 3 got a meh response by the community. This Scott pointed out in the livestream "I wasn't happy with the jumpscare" Now add fnaf 4 into it, keep it in mind he is creating the nightmares because of the meh response to fnaf 3. Scott said "similar to fnaf 3, there was something that just didn't sit well with me in fnaf 4, and the box ties into this, there in 3 I wasn't happy from a gameplay perspective, in 4 I wasn't happy from a lore perspective.....I cast the net too wide for interpretation" And yes he did. He told us we basically solved the first three games and then makes a fourth to be scary, yes to be scary, that wouldn't exist if springtrap had a good jumpscare. So Scott saying that we never solved 4 wasn't because of the community. He didn't even need to make fnaf 4, it was as he said "I made it because I wasn't happy with the jumpscare" You can't say 99% solved guys, here's fnaf 4, it's scary. Lots of jump scares, wait what nobody solved the game I only created because of the fnaf 3 jumpscare. It's frustrating. Even 4 games one story is a lie because there was only supposed to be 3 games. I don't believe dream theory but I do think he was absolutely thinking on sound illusion technology as you say with the high pitch sounds, but got into a pickle when he realised that everything would be seen as sound illusions. It's not "the pieces are in place for you, all you need to do is find them" and more "the lore is in pieces, and can't be interpreted, and my science fiction sound illusion technology won't be accepted by a community of fans who want horror" And Scott said that too in the interview "it's always my natural way to go science fiction....but every time I do the community are like "what are you doing, this is a horror game" and that guides me back. Just look at sister location. We need to believe that Mike has never seen any of the funtimes his father made, that afton had already created the remnant scooper since it hit Mike. That Mike has no idea how remnant works despite talking with his sister. They say "we need you so we can look like you, we have been out before but they always put us back" who is looking for them, who is putting them back, how long ago did afton make the scooper, are those really his rooms or experiment chambers. What remnant is in the funtimes, molten remnant or the sparkling stuff or dark remnant. Why does Mike question nothing. Who is running sister location if Mike needed directions. Why can't the funtimes just escape they obviously need to be shocked manually. Basically questions on questions
