She was quite good in that too. If Hollywood had any brains they would have used her in this time to take advantage of her popularity. Problem was they were going thru a very conservative period in the late 80s and Tawny didn't fit in. Actually there was one way that Hollywood took advantage of it. They started putting some movies of hers regularly on premium cable channels where Tawny's clothes would tend to come off more than what they could show in these videos.

You should check out the original from the 1982 album Saints & Sinners. Both Here I Go Again and Crying In The Rain from the 1987 Whitesnake album was actually re-recordings that the record company wanted. The two original versions was more bluesy. Back when Jon Lord and Ian Paice was still in the band. Mick Moody and Bernie Marsden RIP on guitars and Neil Murray on bass. When recording the 1987 version guitarist John Sykes didn't want to do Here I Go Again so it was recorded by Adrian Vandenburgh. Check out earlier Whitesnake from their 1979 album Love Hunter. The song Walking In The Shadow Of The Blues are a great one.

Whitesnake transitioned from a British heavy blues rock band with little success in the US, to a huge hard rock band globally with this self-titled album referred to generally as the ‘87 album. The previous album did have some single airplay on American rock radio with Slide It In (album and single of the same name), Slow ‘n Easy, and Love Ain’t No Stranger. You should check out those. More from the ‘87 album: the ballad Is This Is Love, fabulous guitar solo by John Sykes, the same for Crying in the Rain, the whole album is pretty much great: Give Me All Your Love Tonight, Bad Boys, Children of the Night, Looking For Love, another ballad Don’t Turn Away. After the recording of the ‘87 album Coverdale fired Sykes among others and hired the band you see in the videos. On paper an absolutely killer line up and they were good live but not the same as with Sykes. Adrian Vandenberg who was expected/intended to be not just the new guitarist, but also song-writing partner, came down with a strange ailment impacting his hands and ability to play guitar. Vivian Campbell left for Def Leppard as well, so in comes Steve Vai for the album Slip of the Tongue. Check out the tune Fool for your Lovin. Check out the original version from 1980’s Ready An’ Willing for an interesting comparison. Judgement Day and Sailing Ships are epic in different ways. From the later albums check out the acoustic ballad Til the End of Time. You should definitely also check out Deep Purple’s Coverdale years, especially with bassist Glenn Hughes contributing his funky soulfulness in the way of incredible vocal trade offs and harmony lines. Stormbringer, Burn and Mistreated are good starting choices here. 🔥
