I look forward to these videos every week! Where are your display sound wall cards from? Thank you from a fellow first grade teacher.

I made them to align with the Fundatios images and sent them out as a freebie to my email list! Just send me an email (susanjonesteaching@gmail.com) and I can send them your way :)

Really helpful video on how you teach the ng, nk glued sounds. I work in Lawrence, Ma at a Charter school and we use Traditional Grades. I would really prefer to do Standards Based.

In Ontario, we have letter grades and the entire thing is comments. We have a progress report in Nov. and then two term reports Feb. and June. They take me about 40 hours each term. I'm so jealous of your report card system. Ours are so time consuming and stressful.

Wow! That must be VERY time consuming!!

Oh my word! It is so very gruelling. We’re in the midst of it all now. It uses up all of our weekends in January:(

Hi Susan! Your videos are my favorite Sunday morning routine.. :) This is our second year with standards based report cards. How and what do you use for data collection, specifically for reading... And do you have a place where you share the sticker collection sheets for a sub? I love that idea!! Thanks!
@SusanJonesTeaching8 ай бұрын
Hi Kristy! For phonics we use our Fundations aligned dictation and reading passages to see if students are able to accurately decode/encode "grade-level" words! The sticker sheets for the sub are from a store called "Natalie Lynn Kindergarten" and are from her emergency first grade sub plans bundle!

Hi Susan, we are just a little ahead of your class in FunDations, Unit 8. I have been using the sound wall you shared but didn’t see the R-controlled vowel sound cards. Do you think you will update it or should I make my own?

I will definitely add them!

@SusanJonesTeaching8 ай бұрын
That is by a seller on TPT named Kylie Barragan! She had a bunch of retell kits for fun stories!
@MelroseG3338 ай бұрын
Hi Susan! How would you adjust these activites for a first grader who is an advanced reader (reads at third grade level)? I homeschool my first grader and he's an excellent reader but I don't want to keep with lessons that are too easy for him but I don't want to do any lessons too advanced.

We do not have a standards based report card. In grades k-2, our report cards are numbers: 1 is 90-100%, 2 is 70-89% and 3 is below 70. The report cards do not give much info. The 2 is so broad. Terrible!

We used wonders for several years. I didn't like it. It was a lot, and was very lacking in phonics and phonemic awareness.
