im a firm believer that we need dont necissarily need 2 categories for loopstation battles. yes i recognise that a second device makes it alot easier to execute at the time during a battle, however the time put into sound design before hand that could give an advantage is also alot of work, and loopers such as robin, rythmind, and bizkit are showing that you can still compete with only an rc505 (yes i know rythmind now uses tc helicon vle 3, but he won gbb without it 🤷🏽♂️) that being said, what i would absolutely love to see, would be an event like gbb (no necissarily gbb but an event like it) have something like a beatbox producer showcase battle, where you have like an 8-16 minute long round, not exactly sure optimal time. the amount if devices you could use in this specific category would be unlimited, as long as all sounds are voice triggered. (im including SY-1000 sequencer and Line 6 Helix infinite delay as voice triggered) in this battle you could bring anything like a launchpad (already allowed in loop ik) or a drum pad like gene used, or a whole london underground network of cables and 10 different midi controllers and vocal processors like oxygenic has. i know this event would be more of just a crowd pleaser than an actual competition, however i feel like this would be great to help get new people interested into the beatbox scene, or at least for them to hwar about it. feel free to tell me your thoughts about this or anything you would want to add in the replies.

It’s an isomorphic keyboard (there are different brands and I’m not sure about the one in the video, maybe a linnstrument…) They can be considered keyboards but shaped in form scales are more visual (and programable) so understanding some patterns you will be in harmony all the time (not the real deal if you are into jazz… but great if you know few about how to play a regular piano/keyboard or instrument). Idk if these are alloweed at gbb but it should be a matter of time if not, in the end it’s all about the music… right?

Great question… people who use second devices (or whatever to achieve a goal) get these for a sound. So there are guitarrist doing looping and using second devices (in fact looping started with tape loops and frippertronics…) but these aren’t “loopers” as you expect (GBB) so look at the background/age of “musician segment” of “loopers” and why they enter looping in the first place. Beatboxing cames from HipHop andturntablist djs usually gone the breakbeat/jungle/dubstep route to get faster scratches, etc etc… if you want different “music” search into other genres or people outside competitions… said that, there are some loopers (I don’t remember their names because I’m not into this trend) who perform some kind of vocal folktronica (sounding like groups such explosions in the sky or massive attack, etc). I have seen them in previus videos from Brez, maybe you fit these into EDM?

@@lifeisoverrated7167 I mean, for example what if one day, one person arrives out of nowhere and beat people like Frosty, KBA, Kristoff, and many others with only "a single device", which means he/she can do much better productive sounds than what a 2 devices can do, with only a single device that person produces an EDM and a better track than what a 2 devices can do, as what if just like that, it could be some dilemma because that person can dominate GBB with only a single device, stomping 1 by 1 those next to battle, maybe that person as in legit dominated against Dice, against SoSo, against Josh O, against Bizkit, against Rythmind, there's the mindblown out there, because we already know beating 2 devices is very very hard if using only 1 device so if that person can do mich better than all of single devices users that person must be a master of looping..

about the comment on none voice triggered effects on line 6 helix, you may be confusing things a bit. For instance many people think that oxygenic does not use voice triggered effects for most of his songs, in reality all of his tracks are voice triggered . There is an effect on line 6 called Poly sustain, in simplistic terms what this does it carry a note that you sing into the microphone throughout snapshot changes (or note changes if you will for people that dont know what snapshots are). So i could understand why some people think that buttons are just being pressed and full harmonies are coming out. I know its especially confusing too when the loopers silent record the note there singing because it makes it look like its just out of no where. Trust me when i say 99 percent of loopers that are using line 6 are not using pre generated sounds.
@dummdummy73503 жыл бұрын
No, i think the point is that helix and second devices make easier for the looper to achieve the exact sound they need instead of using his own perfect harmonies , loopers who need second devices help it's because they cannot imite the exact sound even with loopstation effects. We know they use their sounds but those sounds are not perfect and helix help them to achieve the sound they need, that's why the hard job is because of the helix and not for human skill in harmonies. Also helix and second devices provide you more variety of sounds starting with a very simple sound(without you need to make those sounds for yourself) . I think the new loopstation is pretending to give that variety of sounds without the help of second devices but still you see Kristof or Frosty relying so much on their second devices so they really can't master one device as other loopers like psn or josh o, there is a reason why they need that more variety of sounds generated from that second device instead of using this new features of the new loopstation. All of them had the loopstation the same time but second device users are so use to rely most of their tracks on that benefits of second devices to sound exactly like they want, that even with all the new features they can't master only the loopstation, meanwhile one device users had developed many other skills to make them easy to do sick tracks without any other help. It's easier to learn how to use a machine which gonna help you in the hard part of achieving sounds rather than perfect your own skills to rock a track only with the simple loopstation features, they know that would take years, and to master a machine you just need weeks of practice or maybe months but it's not the rocket science you want to pretend it is.
